Good afternoon, Cheryl; Yep. You found the right place. I am still posting the same exact video to both the old and new channels. My decrepit old laptop is cobbled together to post to the old channel. I do not know how much longer I can keep it operating. I turned off the comments on that channel in hopes that viewers would come find this one and make a comment or two. Plus the keyboard on the laptop is not functioning as it should so have an external keyboard hooked up to it. Anyway, that was #5 leading #5 today. I was in hopes of recording one of the new engines in revenue service today, but that engine was taken off the train back east. Oh well. maybe another time. Good afternoon, Rich; Thank you for stopping by and the comments/question. I am usually awake around 0330 in the mornings. A quick check of the AMTRAK tracker maps gives me an idea how much time I have to lollygag and mess around before going to the depot. On days like today, the routine stays the same, but I can do more online crosswords or other time killers. That didn't happen today as my PU was slated for the shop and some much-needed maintenance. That shop is about a block from the depot and once I checked it in, I grabbed my gear and used my feet. After the Zephyr departed, I made the 3 block walk to Zazzy's for coffee and chat with Marne and the guys. I wear a heavy parka with gloves /mittens and those are equipped with hand warmer packets which do help in keeping my hands warm. The rest of me seems to be unaffected by the cold. Today, the exercise of the walking helped a lot. Plus the coffee. Having grown up here and working here for over 20 years at the Western Sugar Refinery, I am somewhat used to the weather. Good morning, David; I thank you for dropping by and the comments. The scenic view included snow on the east face of the Rockies. I like that. Beautiful clear skies and low humidity made that view possible. I as on foot this morning having dropped the PU off for some maintenance. That shop is about a block away from the depot and the timing for the late Zephyr worked out. Zazzy's is a 3 block or so walk and got there in time to have a shot of coffee with the group including Marne. Then the 8 blocks to the house in the sunshine. Just returned from getting the PU back with a return for more service work on Friday. I do like Gordon Lightfoot's song of the railroad across Canada. Have a CD with that on it. Good afternoon, Ben; Thanks for dialing in and the comments. I thought that AMTRAK may be trying our modifications to the new motors by running that engine thru as part of the Zephyr. I have no idea why it was taken off. The #6 train last night already had a freight motor added and tonight's #6 has the same from Roseville, CA. hat ALC may also be in Lincoln as part of a training program. I rather grasping at straws on that. The morning worked out well timewise. I had an appointment for the PU at my local shop for some maintenance work. That shop is located about a block from the depot, so I checked it in and walked the distance to the depot then the 3 blocks north to Zazz'y for coffee and then theb8 blocks home. It goes back on Friday for some more work once the new parts arrive. That was "Plan B". The original plan was to take the video, bring it all home and then turn the truck over to them followed by the walks. The brilliant sunshine and no winds made the walking a bit more bearable. Hello, mrvwbug; I thank you for tuning in and the comments. On the face of it, they exceeded warp factor 8. LOL In reality, there is a padded schedule between Fort Morgan and Denver. I used to be 32 minutes but about a year or so back that changed with the scheduled times in station at several rural stations including Ft. Morgan. That padded schedule also comes into play between Creston, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska and again between Glenwood Springs and Grand Junction, Colorado. As I recall there are a couple other padded time areas as well farther west. I was made aware of those areas by a former AMTRAK / BNSF engineer. Running time from Ft. Morgan to Denver is about 1.5 hours. With the padding they have nearly 2 full hours to cover 85 miles at 80 mph. Anyway, have a great evening. Please take care and stay safe!

Good afternoon, Lester; I thank you for tuning in and the comments. I have really enjoyed being on the platform for the Zephyr as it is a major part of my retirement routine. It gets me up and moving on a daily basis. Although I have not lived in or very near the Amish, I did visit Lancaster County, PA on a regular basis while I was stationed at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia. I always enjoyed the food that was sold there by the Amish. And that goes along with the neat and tidy appearing farmsteads. There is a large and growing Amish presence in far northwestern Nebraska and the nearest AMTRAK station is the one here in Fort Morgan. It is interesting to me the numbers that detrain here and head for the enclave up there. It is also interesting the numbers who return thru here going ease on the #6 train in the evenings. Good evening, Mark; I thank you for dialing in and the comments. I have had the honor of meeting 3 survivors of Pearl Harbor at state VFW conventions. They along with many of the participants in actions during WWII have passed away and I feel that we all need to remember what they did for this nation. They were the "Greatest Generation". My father was a Korean vet. They served in some of the harshest environments. My Windows 10/11 desktop stopped me from editing over 2 years ago. The new desktop seems to have that ability restored. They also have an editing program called "Clip Champ". Itis installed on both of the desktops. I have not used it but did get into the learning program it contains. I'm not too hip on those yet. The issue I had with RUclips was not length but format in M as I was shooting in ultra 2160 and not the 1080 format. Once I reverted to the 1080 format with the new camera, I have not had an issue in uploading. The Sony camera (AX100) was shooting in 2160 and RUclips accepted that then all at once stopped without prior notice. They still will not accept any upload from the Sony cameras I own. Anyway, what leaves my Canon is in MP4 1080 format and goes directly from the SD card to RUclips. Good luck figuring your issues out. Please take care and stay safe!

Something not seen too many times here. I have noticed the ALCs stumbling on the flatland trains up and down the east coast. Have not heard of many issues but that info is kept under wraps. It activated again just as the train was reaching the crossing and can be arms can be seen dropping into final down position and they depart. That horn music was really crisp this morning.
