Good Friday morning Mike! Currently cloudy and 28 degrees in southeast Iowa this morning. It should get up to 34 here today. We had just barely a dusting of snow and it’s mostly all melted away now! Nice to see Number 5 made its station stop at a reasonable hour this morning! A broken rail near Roggin? Okay. Have a great Friday out your way Sir! I am here in the Heartland! Mark in Iowa.
Good morning, Mark; I thank you for dropping by and the comments. We are at 12 F. at 0943 MST. May reach 30 this afternoon for about 3 minutes. LOL! Yep. I chatted with a BNSF signal maintainer that was called out for that break. Wasn't out of alignment and they were able to walk two trains across the break. One of those was the Zephyr. That has been repaired, and the line is back to full use. I didn't see any snow via the cams at Burlington yet there was snow on the east side of the river at Galesburg. Anyway, have a great Friday back there. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
Good morning, Mike. Cold morning in Fort Morgan. F/C is for some snow & rain here on the coast in SC. Let's hope the warmer ocean & salt air make it a no-show. Stay safe, be careful and keep those mittens on!!
Good morning, Jim; I thank you for tuning in along with the comments. At least the winds from yesterday have subsided. It is on the cool side and the thermometer is acting as though it is frozen. LOL! With luck, the ocean and proximity to it may help tame that weather back there. Have a Great Friday. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
Good morning, David; Thanks for dialing in and the comments. I had a chance to chat with a maintainer who was called out on the break. It was in a not too friendly of an area to get to, but the signals did go red around that break. He was still there as they walked two trains over the spot. The Zephyr was one of those two. Anyway, that was repaired, and the line is back in full operational mode. Have a great Friday up there. Plese take care, stay warm, and safe!
hi Mike well we got above 32 today for the first time in a week. but starting Monday we will go back down again, thanks for the catch of #5 also nice to hear the update about the broken rail. have a great rest of your day and be safe.
Good afternoon, Ken; Thanks for dialing in along with the comments. We may get close to that magic number but not for long. The prognosticators are saying that we will return to the upper 30s and low 40s in the middle of next week. I'd rather have more snow. Oh well. Have a great Friday afternoon and evening back there. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
Good morning, Jeb; Thank you for dialing in and the comments today. I will keep tabs on that game. I did see the cores from last night's game. Didn't watch as the Avalanche were skating in a game that they won. No hockey tonight but will keep tabs on that game. Hope that you have a great Friday. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning, Norman; Thanks for dropping by and the comments. It is that time of year out here. Listening to the rails creak and groan as the trains approach is something else. The rails at the station were really barking this morning. I know the maintainer who responded to that break. He told me they walked two trains over the break. On was the Zephyr. His signals worked as advertised. I used to work out in weather like this. Now, I want inside ASAP! LOL! Have a great Friday. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
Good Morning Mike we are getting more snow today in Worden Illinois. Had 10 inch over weekend and maybe another 5 today. But it is winter time. stay warm Mike have a great day.
Good morning, Kenny; Thaks for dropping by and the comments. I watched the V/R camera at Galesburg this morning and saw the snow there. Meanwhile there are clear skies here in eastern Colorado. With the cold temperatures just in time for the start of the National Western Stock Show in Denver tomorrow. Almost never fails to be frigid for the stock show. Not much snow here but more along the front range and Denver metro area. Have a great Friday back there. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
Good morning and thanks for stopping by along with the comments. No snow blowing around today. At least the wind has laid down. Maybe the sun can warm is a bit today. LOL! Have a great Friday. Please take care and stay safe!
Good Mike: Looks cold there this morning. Nice quick stop this morning. Feeling a little better today. Go get that coffee and get warm. 25 in ABQ this morning.😊😊😊😊😊
Good morning, Gerald; Thank you for stopping by and the comments. Yep. It was on the chilly side of COLD! My fingers were near numb by the rime I shut the camera off. Almost had them warmed up by the time I got my first coffee today. We may see 30 F. this afternoon for about 3 minutes. Nice to read that you are feeling better! I hope that continues. Have a great Friday down there. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
Good morning Mike from 27 mid Tenn with 2-3 inches snow & continuing to late afternoon with 4-6 inches projected. High of 32 this afternoon for 2 hours then back below freezing. Sounds like FM weather almost. What's the situation on broken rail? Does #5 hold at FM west or continue to broken site awaiting repair? Definitely a coffee/ fireplace day if you have it.
Good morning, Ben; I thank you for dialing in and the comments. We are 14 F at 1000 MST. Might see 30 F for a short time this afternoon. I'd like to have that snow for more coverage on the ground. There was a lot of drifting of the powdery snow out here. #5 continued west and was walked over the break by the repair team that was on scene to mend the break. A signal maintainer filled me in on the tasking over coffee this morning. They had walked two trains over the break. One was the Zephyr. All of his signals worked as advertised. It was interesting to listen to the notification over the radio this morning. No fireplace but plenty of hot coffee. Have a great Friday back there. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
Good morning, Damien; Thanks for stopping by and the comments. Yep. It was a short stop and back on the main rails. Have a great Friday down there. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!

American trains look so cold and disgusting - something out of crime shows.
