My most useful shortcut is a very basic one that tells my wife I am on my way to pick her up and the time she should expect me to arrive. The time is almost spot on. Now, instead of my wife coming out of her office whenever she felt she had given me enough time to arrive, we both arrive at the office door at more or less the same time. I no longer have to wait for her and she knows exactly when to expect me.
Suggested addition: in Find Friends, click the “Me” icon in the lower left corner, then click “Notify Friends,” and add a permanent notification to automatically notify her when you’re within a specified radius of her office
When I first saw this shortcut thing I thought it was so gimmicky and pretty much just what it was: shortcuts. But then looking into it I realized it's basically a simplified powerful programming tool that they just called "shortcuts", probably to make users that are not so familiar with programming more willing to try it out. I remember Scratch from MIT being my first ever experience with programming back in school, and Shortcuts is like a more beautiful and practical version of that and is custom-made for iOS. Amazing.
Agreed. I felt the same way at first. I am not a programmer, but I saw some similarity between Short cuts and Swift's approach to programming, both very visual.... Am I correct in this observation?
Im switching to IOS from android for the first time...ever! This is one thing im really looking forward to getting my hands on! I don't think people fully understand the power this app truly has. I think this is the missing piece needed to give Siri proper functionality.
Have you ever heard off Tasker for Android it's way more capable than siri shortcuts plus it's a true automation app because it's let's you have triggers based on time, location, state etc which siri shortcuts can't do.
chad billy I’ve used Tasker for years now on my personal device but have never found a comparable iOS application. Whilst Shortcuts is quite capable I agree that it lacks the dynamic range of automation offered by Tasker and its ability to commence the automation process via complex triggers.
Brandon Farley Tasker is an Android only app at present. Even with an “un rooted” device, it’s far more capable than Shortcuts presently is, albeit as complex to master...

Rene, Thank you for excellent videos. Can you do more on shortcuts. Short and concise for advanced how to... can you include the screenshots for how to do it or just the scripting? I know you can appreciate people wanting to build them and themselves versus downloading something from the Internet. As always thank you!
If anybody is having trouble getting the latitude and longitude share cut to work, you have to add something for the text box to show up. Here’s how: Scroll to the bottom, search for “show alert”> in the “title” text field customize it (I put “here’s your latitude and longitude”)> in the body of text field below [insert title], tap on the body> tap on the small blue variant that says “lat”> place semi colon> then select “lng” (LNG). That should make it work how it was intended.
Now what I want is (aside from more commands) triggers. Like at 4:20 when he has the shortcut to show the clipboard, to have that be automatic any time he copies something. In case anyone is wondering it’s just “show result” and the clipboard variable in the text field.
Only just realized I needed to download the shortcuts app to my iPhone X, I inspected shortcuts after installing iOS 12 but had no reason to suspect that there was more to it than shown in settings.app until you mentioned the app
I’ve been playing around with it and so far I love it. I made a calculator to give me the total of my purchase and the tax included. Helps me alot among other shortcuts I’ve been creating.

I would like to adress an issue with sharecuts: I can't add shortcuts from the website into my shortscuts application as it says it is only possible through icloud. Anyone else having this issue?
Rene, any idea how to slow down Siri and add pauses between a question and options to choose ? I have a Shortcut for translation and Siri rattles off without pausing and it’s hard to hear. I tried adding a wait command for 1 or 2 secs but it doesn’t make any difference. I’m one of these people who slows down RUclips videos to .75 or .5% to listen to them. 😅😢
I’ve delved a lot into the Shortcuts app back when it was called Workflow. And I’ve got a LOT of cool Shortcuts! One big example is being able to quickly erase my universal clipboard. And another is the ability to compile a Minecraft Bedrock Edition resource pack on an iPad. And that is groundbreaking, because you’ve never been able to do something like that before!
Quick question, I routinely paste a specific set of URLs into SMS. Every time I have to copy the links from somewhere else then paste it into SMS. Is there a way to create a shortcut for more of a push button solution?
One of the best Apple...urrr... nope...scratch that. One of the best instructional/introduction videos on anything. I 'thought' I understood Siri Shortcuts. Even after watching your previous videos I 'thought' I grasped the power and convenience, but I was wrong. This video made things much much clearer. My wife is very reluctant to update her iOS. No matter what she doesn't update out of fear of bugs, issues, kinks etc. No matter how much I try to convince her she simply won't update to iOS 12. THIS video will be the one that convinces her. You can actually incorporate your own custom-made sounds inside the script. All you gotta do (..) is mime64 encode an audio file, then copy that to clipboard (these you can probably best do on a computer), slam that into a Text -action in Shortcuts, then add the action called "Base64 Encode" (but switch it to Decode) and then add the "Play Sound" action right after that. Hey presto, custom sound. Pretty cool.
My favourite shortcut is to download RUclips videos to VLC to watch on the bus. We don’t have RUclips red here or download for later unlike neighbouring countries. Another one is to find a specific gas station in the next 5km. Because I have an app for that brand of gas station. So I pay from the app and I get discount plus members point right in the app. Not stepping out of the car. I got one that finds photos I’ve imported from my mirrorless to make into a grid. Resize the photos too. I used to share it to Instagram but I deleted most of Facebook apps so only whatsapp remaining. Now I share that in between and flickr. I got one that works right in the widget and not requiring any unlocking of the phone. It finds me restaurant nearby to make a reservation. Select one and it calls out to the restaurant.
I use open in app VLC. I use a lot of open in app. Same for Snapseed. Somehow Snapseed decides to remove their sharesheet, so I use open in Snapseed. I guess it works from websites too.
I subscribed to curiosity. Look good, but I can’t find Nebula. In Safari or their App, I search for your name or Nebula, and no result is found. Let me know How can I get to it. Best regard
I don't use Siri shortcuts. I'm not sure if it could help me. I have no smart lights or other homekit products. I think if I did have those things, it would probably be more helpful. I have no HomePod. But I have to prioritize the tech devices that I need, My husband and I don't not own a house, so many Home it or Smart devices couldn't be used in our apartment as violation of the terms of our lease. I still really enjoyed your video very much!
Anyone know how to make a Shortcut that gives me an overview of my calendar and the temperate outside? And have Siri read that out loud? Any suggestions?
Nice video, I did try the Reddit web site, but every time I try to download a Shortcut, it bring me to the app store (to download shorcuts) even if I already have the app. Is it because I am in Canada? Thanks for your help!
Shortcuts has great potential but there are a few things that don’t work well yet. First, it needs more 3rd party app support. Then you need to unlock the screen for some shortcuts to finish which makes them less useful. Also, shortcuts take long to work sometimes and much worse if triggered from the Apple Watch. The ultimate way to use shortcuts would be to raise your wrist and only say the shortcut name to the Apple Watch. But unfortunately, series 4 takes forever to get them to run.
The 3rd party app support is actually the other way around. Spotify, Facebook Messenger etc devteams need to implement Shortcuts support. This ain't a "Apple/Shortcuts team didn't do it" thing, this is a "3rd party devs were too busy developing to actually add cool new features into their apps". Shame that Apple is getting the flack for that.
LacklusterOfficial I agree partly. 3rd party developers should implement shortcuts and most will probably do. The problem with Apple part is what they did to the Apple Watch. They removed the shortcuts app in the watch and make shortcuts run in the phone. That takes FOREVER. Completely impractical. I hope they will fix that. Still, first world problems
danteyoutu lets have some patience. The Shortcuts 2.1 already introduces some missing functions and fixes some bugs. Here’s to hoping 2.2 will introduce even more cool hooks. Iterative updates is the name of the game here.
LacklusterOfficial I’m willing to have some patience for sure. I also hope they work those things out. The intention of my comment was to raise those minor concerns because I don’t see them mentioned elsewhere and it’s important to point bugs out so Apple works on them.
Does anyone know about any equivalent app to the discontinued DeskConnect by Ari Weinstein regrettably discontinued on Feb 20 2017? It used to be such a incredible fast easy friendly communication versatile tool between iMac iPhone iPad directly linking them together. Used to work also on iOS6. I.e. I.E. iPhone 3GS onward and up to iOS9 I believe. God knows why such an incredible app was discontinued. Forget about * AirDrop * Handoff * Instashare * Universal Clipboard * Workflow * Shortcuts I wish I can have DeskConnect back. I ❤️ DeskConnect
Rene Ritchie that’s it! Plenty will claim Apple haven’t been innovative since the early iPhone days but with the likes of all screen displays becoming the norm then the only real differentiators will be software and applications, thanks again, learning an awful lot with your videos
chad billy perhaps but I hadn’t ever heard of that app, whereas now it’s been brought right into the spotlight(kind of, although before a couple of these videos I had no idea whereas now I’m starting to play with them a bit) I think they should take this a stage further and actually root this into the OS, I didn’t even realise there was an app for this and I feel like that is a limiting factor for its discovery
I’m trying to find a use for shortcuts but, no matter how much I dabble or browse, I can’t find anything that Siri can’t already do. I already use Siri to control lights, play music and playlists, tell my wife my eta, add things to lists, calendar and reminders. So, shortcuts, rather upsettingly, doesn’t bring me anything new. I don’t understand why the above functions/tasks are listed in the things to try in shortcuts. Siri has been able to do that stuff for years.
Most of those shortcuts aren’t necessary since Siri can perform most of the music shortcuts talked about here or scenes via the Home app. I love using the Play one and shuffle
look, the really customised shortcuts, used as examples, would be really useless for everyone else apart from the person making them. Besides, this whole "play this kinda music to wake up to" also has multiple other functions in it, or can have them added. I'm a big fan of putting Low Power Mode everywhere, so I'd be adding more stuff into the shortcuts by keeping them in "my favorite environment/settings".
You can send data over to Google Maps or Waze and plot a course but the apps themselves don’t support Shortcuts, so you can’t get arrival times or search for things. It’s not an easy app to use, so I don’t think it’s ever going to get very big, unfortunately. Wasted opportunity. I hope I’m wrong.
What do you want it to do? I have a couple of routines that in the end will use google maps for directions. I have go home which turns on bluetooth turn up volume play some jazz get direction home in google maps.
How could Apple make Siri Shortcuts more accessible? Let me voice trigger from Siri on my Apple Watch!! I’ve tried multiple times with multiple shortcuts (even one that just reads out text as it’s output) and it just doesn’t work. How in God’s name is that possible?
"Intimidating" is that they removed Workflow from Apple watch. Now you NEED to use SIRI to activate them (now "shortcuts"). I do not want to talk to any AI, so they just RUINED something I was using before.
Hyghner Boyd you’re thinking about routines right. This is beyond routines, think tasker. You can use this to run find photos from last month that you’ve imported from your camera resize the photos make them into a grid make it into pdf zip it up save it into drop box and attach it to an email to send to a friend. I haven’t played with tasker or automate enough to know whether they can do the things shortcuts can do.
They’re all robots, language is too proprietary, this coming from a person loved writing filemaker scripts. I prefer a video from you, you have a way of clearing the muck of obfuscated concepts that are truly innovative but turn average users off with tmi. Gonna go check Chris out too, @dailytekk is clear too
Sam Zaq ifttt yes much better than on android than on ios. Shortcuts is beyond routines and ifttt. Its more like tasker or automate. Think about running a trigger to find photos from last month. Imported from your mirrorless. Resize the photos. Make it into a grid. Make it into a pdf. Zip it up. Save it in drop box. Attach the zip to a email to send to a friend. Yup. More like that.
I love you Rene but I worry your hyperbole alienates you from many, “it’s like leaving orbit and looking down ...” etc., I say this because it comes across as romaticizing it in stark contrast to a subtle “Microsoft trying to cram down windows into touch (or mobile)” diss that I heard you say the other day, I can’t ask you to change this your monologues are beautifully prepared really, but it does at times make me question if there’s not more bias than not. Anyway take that fwiw, if anything.
Fee Yeah, imagery is more powerful than 25 words could ever be, so I guess that’s why he does it. It could be off putting if you’re coming in without any prior knowledge (I guess) or those who prefer it straight up, but for those who have a general understanding of the subject matter (meaning me ONLY) it is enjoyable. Eh, to each their own...
That’s fair, and good criticism. I have a soft spot for things that try to make coding more Accessible to more people, and tend to go a little overboard. Much appreciated!
Of course there’s bias. It’s important to have good reasons for that biasness. Oops not a word. Apple got a lot of little things right from the beginning. In short they got input lag right. Retina lcd right. Privacy focus right. Sandboxing right. Then they work from there to work out the inconvenience. Rene might sound aloof but I’m sure he’s good evil.
TankQ getting things objectively right vs. “of course there’s biasness” can be the difference between what’s perceived as right/wrong at all, hence the constant effort to fight our very human tendency to develop bias, or be transparent about it at least and not pretend /let yourself be deluded into believing you’re being objective if you’re not I’m not talking about Rene there, just responding to your first statement. I agree entirely about things they got right initially actually, to the end that many of those things were lost in moving to iOS 7 and beyond is still a hard pill to swallow for me, especially knowing many of them were there ONLY because Steve Jobs demanded it/can’t do so anymore
Calvin Green so again I find his monologues to be delightful, but I’m just saying it’s a tool to be wielded carefully/consciously when presenting objective analysis of pros/cons of...well, just about anything, and since it struck me in two consecutive videos it felt worth mentioning Then again as you pointed out it could simply be that I’m struggling to grasp a subject matter that only you fully understand. :P
The problem is hey Siri doesn’t work unless the phone is really close to you. With echo devices you can say Alexa and the device will hear you across the room .. and with Ifttt the possibilities are endless
Echo, like HomePod, is plugged in and has far-field beam forming mic arrays to hear whispers in noisy rooms. But, Shortcuts you make on iOS can be run on HomePod as well.
Different. Amazon or google home works with full ac power. Your phone have to save battery. And IFTTT is not shortcuts. It’s a mini routine maybe. Shortcuts is more like tasker with strings of ongoing command chains. Maybe like bixby but more complex.
This is nice, but Apple are really late to the AI game. If they had put more love and money into Siri it could have done those shortcuts automatically on it's own. I would really like to program shortcuts on my iPhone, but like you said, who has time for that? And I think that's a feature that is very unlike Apple.
I think Siri should analyse patterns of behavior or daily routine like Google Now does and than program the shortcuts that are most relevant to you. It can be done. Apple should really up their Siri game.
"Very unlike Apple", you say? Remember when Steve Jobs demoed the brand new MacOSX feature "Automator"? Oh, you've never used Automator? Automator is pure Apple. An easy to use predecessor of Shortcuts, but for MacOSX, and with way more features. Shortcuts is basically Automator for iOS. There's nothing "unlike Apple" about Shortcuts. Who has time for building shortcuts with Shortcuts? Well, I suppose people who want to save time. Or you could, you know, pay someone (hint hint) to build custom Shortcuts for you.
After watching the whole video and reading a bunch of the comments,I still have no idea what shortcuts are,how to set them up,or what I would use them for. I guess I’m officially retarded. Maybe it’s because I don’t like to dance first thing in the morning.
the first few shortcuts i made were: 1. Weight: Widget in Today-screen for logging weight into Apple Health's Weight-segment. I click on a button in the Widget, input numbers and press okay -> that number is input into Health. 2. Sleepytimes: again in the Widget, press it, Wi-Fi Off, Bluetooth Off, Low Battery Mode:On, Brightness:Low, Do Not Disturb: On ("Until I Leave"), AirPlane Mode: On, edit BedTime. So, one button press, and I'm setting my BedTime, flip a slider a bit to set wakeuptime at whenever, then lock the phone and slam it on the nightstand. 3. OMWHome: checks my current location (fetches address), checks distance to home (stores kilometer details), checks time it takes to get home from there by car (stores timeByCar), time to get there by walk (stores timeByWalk), then fetches all that data and texts my wife. "I'm at (address), (kmFromHome)km from home, it'll take me (timeByCar) to get there by car, or (timeByWalk) to get there by walking, see you soon". all that data, one click. I could modify it to say that "I'll be there in "current time + timeByCar"" if I took the time. 4. Next Location: checks all my calendars, fetches a list of events with an address in them, I tap on that list, and am dumped into Apple Maps with Public Transit mode on, and because our gorram poxy Helsinki Public Transport (HSL) does not provide direct Apple Maps integration, I instead click "Route" and then select "Reittiopas" (app of choice for public transport over in HKI) -> and get presented with how to get there and when. 5. VLC Downloader: uses X-Callback-URLs to take the URL I provide (direct URL to a direct MP3 or a video) and sends it to VLC Player for downloading -> excellent for having videos for offline viewing, in case am on a long flight f.ex. 6. Faves: this is on the "yeah but it's so simple" -tip, but this sets volume to a preferred setting, and starts Podcasts playback of my Faves (Playlist created with music only). Oh and Low Power Mode. Once Shortcuts 2.1 gets released, I'll add "check weather" with "if sunny, set brightness to max".. because when it's sunny over here, I can't see a thing. 7: Where Wifey?: Just uses the Siri suggested "Find on Find my Friends" hook, so one click and Find My Friends tells me what's going on. 8: FaceTime Wifey: One Click -> FaceTiming wife 9: Record: One click: Voice Memos is launched and recording starts automatically. So one-stop recording. 10. Add to Trello: shows an input box, I type something, and it is added as a new card into a shared Trello board. 11. Word to Define: Asks for input with a "Word to define", when input, Shows definition. 12. Days till Paycheck: calculates how many days left till 1st of next month, then shows a notification going "x days till paycheck, hang in there, it's coming" 13. iDevice Informant: grabs every single thing I can think of (external/local IPv4&IPv6, iDevice name, Wi-Fi connection name, Cellular data, Brightness, Volume, Battery perecentages, device Model, Screen Resolution.. and shows all that with option to copy it to clipboard) 14. Remind Me When I Get Home: adds input to Reminder with "on Location" set to home address. Still working on this, cos Reminders shoots an error if I'm not connected to the interwebs, so would then prefer to just write a notification without location 15. Wi-Fi QR Code: asks for Wi-Fi name, asks for Wi-Fi password, and then creates a QR code that you can either share with a friend or just show to a friend, they scan it with their lock-screen camera and connect to the Wi-Fi of your choice, without you having to spell out super-ultra-complex passwords. There's a couple more but I'm happy with these. I start none of these by voice commands, just using the widget buttons.

It’s not custom made. It’s workflow new reincarnate.

Shortcut might be one of Apple's most powerful app. I need to take a good sunday to dig in
My favourite shortcut is to download RUclips videos to VLC to watch on the bus.
Select one and it calls out to the restaurant.
these were cool. So, how does one download to VLC, do you use the x-callback-url, after using like a ytdownloader url to get a MP4 link?
I use open in app VLC.
I use a lot of open in app. Same for Snapseed. Somehow Snapseed decides to remove their sharesheet, so I use open in Snapseed. I guess it works from websites too.
It’s using get contents from the shortcuts app. Does not work for all videos. Mostly music videos does not work. However reviews and others works.
Connor Duffus that ones kind of complicated so I made you one you can play with www.icloud.com/shortcuts/761df32db8834e36a5dd485103f409ef
Anyone can get the clipboard shortcut by macstories? Can’t find it.
Sharecurs isn’t working for me, it says the address is invalid
Nice video, I did try the Reddit web site, but every time I try to download a Shortcut, it bring me to the app store (to download shorcuts) even if I already have the app. Is it because I am in Canada? Thanks for your help!
Hey Rene I really like your channel very solid information thanks :) Keep up the great work!
Where do I get verticci health shortcuts?
Get in touch with Viticci at twitter.com/viticci
THANK YOU, I needed this today.
I never knew shortcuts could show results in the widget. That’s cool.
yeah really cool that they do, too!
Love your explanation and content. Subbed
Forget about
* AirDrop
* Handoff
* Instashare
* Universal Clipboard
* Workflow
* Shortcuts
I wish I can have DeskConnect back. I ❤️ DeskConnect
I didn’t realise how powerful Siri shortcuts was, thanks for sharing, think my health app will be much easier to use now
It's amazing. Every time I think I've seen the limits, creative people blow them away.
Rene Ritchie that’s it! Plenty will claim Apple haven’t been innovative since the early iPhone days but with the likes of all screen displays becoming the norm then the only real differentiators will be software and applications, thanks again, learning an awful lot with your videos
@@randombloke10 apple didn't create shortcuts they bought the app workflow and renamed it siri shorcuts.
chad billy perhaps but I hadn’t ever heard of that app, whereas now it’s been brought right into the spotlight(kind of, although before a couple of these videos I had no idea whereas now I’m starting to play with them a bit) I think they should take this a stage further and actually root this into the OS, I didn’t even realise there was an app for this and I feel like that is a limiting factor for its discovery
Loved the video, thanks!
finally someone who used more FACTS than OPINIONS in their video
I tried to get shortcuts to give me a traffic update via google maps... failed! Completely. Gave up !!!
EMKWAN REVIEWS Do you have Apple Maps (I know you aren’t in the states) have you tried it? Just curious...
I have apple maps. But out here in Dubai it won’t show traffic. But there’s no option to chose only Google Maps which does show traffic.
EMKWAN REVIEWS Gotcha...enjoy your channel.
If the app you want to automate doesn’t say it “Supports” Siri on its App Store page, the app developers haven’t allowed Shortcuts to work with it yet
What do you mean? You want shortcuts the app to open google maps? Or you want siri to get you updates in google maps?
What is vector??
Thank you for you video. I've recently started using shortcuts and let me say to anyone out there, dive in, you will not be disappointed..
The only thing I’m missing is the way to automatically start shortcuts. It’s pretty limiting to always have to start them manually...
Agreed, but it's a start in the right direction for sure.
When creating or editing a shortcut you have the option of "Add to Siri"
Most of those shortcuts aren’t necessary since Siri can perform most of the music shortcuts talked about here or scenes via the Home app. I love using the Play one and shuffle
look, the really customised shortcuts, used as examples, would be really useless for everyone else apart from the person making them. Besides, this whole "play this kinda music to wake up to" also has multiple other functions in it, or can have them added. I'm a big fan of putting Low Power Mode everywhere, so I'd be adding more stuff into the shortcuts by keeping them in "my favorite environment/settings".
Can’t use shortcuts with WAZE or google maps so what’s the point.
Pablo Salazar I can almost imagine an update is in the works, but of course Apple Maps is going to get first dibs.
“Hey, Siri, play latest video from René Ritchie.”
Lol Rene pulls the avengers of tech reviewers/commenters in this video in secret.
Siri Shortcuts + Airtable API = Ultimate Productivity!!!!!!! Goodbye Microsoft Office!!!
How could Apple make Siri Shortcuts more accessible? Let me voice trigger from Siri on my Apple Watch!! I’ve tried multiple times with multiple shortcuts (even one that just reads out text as it’s output) and it just doesn’t work. How in God’s name is that possible?
tonysimpleman works for me on my series 1 though it’s painfully slow to execute
Daremachina interesting. It doesn’t work on my series 2 (updated to watchOS 5). Siri just responds “I do not recognize that command”
tonysimpleman same
Works on my Series 4.
Thank you
Shortcuts is the best ios12 app!
I'm here so early only 360p is uploaded
Shortcut Avengers 😂 Love it.
You pronounced "primer" as the paint, not a book for teaching. The different pronunciation is the same for Canadian, American, and British English.
Best tech reviewer on RUclips, lets go for 1 million subs and above! You deserve it!
Ha! Thank you! Tell a friend! (Kidding!)
Rene Ritchie More like kidding (not kidding!). 😆
"Intimidating" is that they removed Workflow from Apple watch. Now you NEED to use SIRI to activate them (now "shortcuts"). I do not want to talk to any AI, so they just RUINED something I was using before.
Nice work 👍🇬🇧
I made one today that had my friends face on an app and then when you open it, it would give you a text box saying *”you like memes little boi*”
This is some good dope Mr. Ritchie.
Appreciated, thank you!
I don't get this. Google Assistant does this without all this work...
Yeah Hyghner, tell me how this is useless to someone who needs this kind of workflow?
Who gets a 40 minute break?
I do, every day, well, Monday through Friday that is. I don't work weekends like a little BITCH!
Iphone 6.....
They’re all robots, language is too proprietary, this coming from a person loved writing filemaker scripts. I prefer a video from you, you have a way of clearing the muck of obfuscated concepts that are truly innovative but turn average users off with tmi. Gonna go check Chris out too, @dailytekk is clear too
this video was very disjointed and confusing. can you do a 101 just with yourself? I'm not interested in any other channels. Thanks.
It's not SIRI shortcuts just shortcuts!
Iftt much more developed and especially on android
“of course there’s biasness” can be the difference between what’s perceived as right/wrong at all, hence the constant effort to fight our very human tendency to develop bias, or be transparent about it at least and not pretend /let yourself be deluded into believing you’re being objective if you’re not
I’m not talking about Rene there, just responding to your first statement.
I agree entirely about things they got right initially actually, to the end that many of those things were lost in moving to iOS 7 and beyond is still a hard pill to swallow for me, especially knowing many of them were there ONLY because Steve Jobs demanded it/can’t do so anymore
Calvin Green so again I find his monologues to be delightful, but I’m just saying it’s a tool to be wielded carefully/consciously when presenting objective analysis of pros/cons of...well, just about anything, and since it struck me in two consecutive videos it felt worth mentioning
Then again as you pointed out it could simply be that I’m struggling to grasp a subject matter that only you fully understand. :P
This is considered coding?
this is considered scripting.
360p YAY 😁😎🤭
projectmmwsfz try 144p 👁
RUclips wants you to come back for the 4K!
Rene Ritchie Sure will come back for your intelligent and insightful videos. Mad respect for you! Keep it up, sir!
YAAS
☹️
❤️❤️❤️
Shortcuts sucks in portuguese. Siri is the worst assistant in the realm of assistants, by far.
After watching the whole video and reading a bunch of the comments,I still have no idea what shortcuts are,how to set them up,or what I would use them for. I guess I’m officially retarded. Maybe it’s because I don’t like to dance first thing in the morning.
Yup. It's official.
the first few shortcuts i made were:
8: FaceTime Wifey: One Click -> FaceTiming wife
9: Record: One click: Voice Memos is launched and recording starts automatically. So one-stop recording.
10. Add to Trello: shows an input box, I type something, and it is added as a new card into a shared Trello board.
11. Word to Define: Asks for input with a "Word to define", when input, Shows definition.
12. Days till Paycheck: calculates how many days left till 1st of next month, then shows a notification going "x days till paycheck, hang in there, it's coming"
13. iDevice Informant: grabs every single thing I can think of (external/local IPv4&IPv6, iDevice name, Wi-Fi connection name, Cellular data, Brightness, Volume, Battery perecentages, device Model, Screen Resolution.. and shows all that with option to copy it to clipboard)
14. Remind Me When I Get Home: adds input to Reminder with "on Location" set to home address. Still working on this, cos Reminders shoots an error if I'm not connected to the interwebs, so would then prefer to just write a notification without location
Shortcuts ... solutions to problems only self obsessed narcissists think they have.
Explain how Shortcuts is useless to you and therefore everyone :)
This is so sad.
This is worthless info

WIN!
Loving these shortcuts, Rene! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
