- Abandoned Sheetz - Plum, PA. It's not often Sheetz closes down locations without the intention of demolishing and building a new store to today's specifications. In this case, this one closed for a new location just up the road giving us a rare chance to take a look at this older and outdated location.

Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever seen an abandoned Sheetz before
they built a new sheetz up the street from this location
I love how clean the inside is for an "abandoned" location. I think that I would use the term, closed instead.
As a fellow yinzer I have never seen this old style of sheetz. It’s crazy how successful they are, they usually only close one down to put a new one up the road as they did up in McCandless years ago with the tiny sheetz.
There’s an old Sheetz still active in Belington, WV. Probably won’t be around much longer but it’s still really neat. Even still has the old 24 hour after hours window.
Have never seen an old Sheetz like this one; glad you filmed it, Wallie.
The craziest thing about it is, this is actually one that was re done within the last 25 years. If I remember correctly, there is a real old one up in Emporium that is still in service though
@WallieB26 You are awesome, I love the respect you have for the properties you show and also for neighboring businesses! Keep up the great content, and safe travels as well!
Thats a cool looking design
I drove past this Sheetz recently. Was surprised to find out they closed and moved down the road.
surprised they didnt take off the sign. they dont even put them up on new locations until they are fully built. they are super protective
Well they're getting lazy and resting on their laurels
I used to drive past this sheetz visiting my paternal grandparents when they lived in Murrysville
i cant wait for the one in my town to open, they are finished, just hiring and maybe doing inside. also thanks for making a video in my town at the Rax here in Lancaster, Ohio. we welcome you back!
The one in Berkeley Springs, WV sat empty for a long while, then someone bought it and renovated it into an insurance office / pediatricians office. The pediatricians office has since left, but still an active insurance company.
There’s an abandoned sheetz in Roanoke, Virginia to 0:06
Thanks for uploading this evening I’m sick
Feel better
I can’t remember if this location was updated from an original or they closed the old location and then opened this one?
It was crazy seeing “old school” sheetz locations in some of the run down areas around Pittsburgh and then pulling up on the new fancy locations.
I went out to one of the biggest Sheetz in Altoona years ago when Sheetz started expanding like crazy with the big seating area that looked like a real restaurant setup.
An abandoned Sheetz in PA is wild to me. Also I never guessed there was something named Presque Isle anything that far south.
Next to one of our Sheetz up in Meadville is an abandoned Kings building after they closed down. It's sorta fenced off and where it's located they might do something with it but it's been almost a year. 🤷♂️
Awesome good finds abandoned sheetz what a Awesome way to start out with.
Love your shows
I remember being in college in Clarion before Sheetz had the touch screens. I used to buy 2 big dogz and marked every topping on the paper. I can still see the facial expressions of the person who took it up. I really was a jag, I guess. Oh, and the .99 cent Jacks. Good video. You hardly ever see an abandoned Sheetz.
I live in Plum. Pretty cool for you doing this!
I think they should open this place as a coffee shop and call it “Diesel’s” (fuel for your brain)😏
I bet the reason the doors are chained shut is because since they were open 24/7/365 nobody ever locked the door and the key has since been misplaced.
They probably never had a key because there wasn’t a reason to lock the doors.
@@exploring_unleashed Convenience store etiquette is to always lock the doors after a robbery, should one happen. That's an insurance thing.
Wow that is something you don’t see to often thanks for sharing this amazing video wallie
They reopened a sheetz right at the former Kings location
Neville island? because i believe they have one right by the Kings and speedway
An abandoned Sheetz must be extremely rare to find.
Definitely a bit out of the ordinary for Sheetz, both in design and the fact that it was closed and not immediately demolished. Probably the closest one in design to this one that I've been to was the old one on Broughton Road a few miles from Century III. It's been re-done and has their newest design with a more industrial style canopy. That location has also added EV Quick chargers.
Another location that was closed and not demolished was Somerset, Pa. I believe GetGo took it over for a while, and last I saw, it was a cigarette store.
The only other sheetz I know that has been abandoned is in kittaning and the new sheetz was built right across the street. The old sheetz was a restaurant but I think has since closed down. I think there’s an old sheetz in butler too where they built the new once across the street and the old one is a dollar tree or dollar general
I am looking forward to Sheetz coming to Michigan
I had never heard of this chain until this video!
When this location opened you had to fill out a paper order form with a pencil and hand it to them. This location was land-locked and expansion was denied. The new location is now where the former King's was just a few miles up the road. I wouldn't be surprised if this became a Par-Mar Sunoco or BP location just like Springdale.
Another good abandoned video! Never seen a place like this before!
The same thing was done to the Sheetz in Exeter Twp. near Birdsboro. They moved about three miles up the near Reifton on the site of the old Bowl-a-rama bowling alley, a bowling alley my son who bowled when he was in high school loved. I heard that the reason Sheetz moved from the Birdsboro location was due to the store being built on unstable ground.
Yes and there’s another store in there now at that location, but I don’t remember what it is.
@@exploring_unleashedit's called the "Birdsboro Mart"
There is an abandoned one in Coudersport PA has well. Similar story, they built a bigger one just up the street.
I used to work for sheetz with a third party inspection company. Alot of the times when they wanted to update the stores or in most cases add the Beer cave and didnt have the land they would build locally and close up the old location. Remove tanks and pumps and even paint the building flat gray after a while. They usually never get rid of said property either to keep any chance of people moving in unless its leased. They just built one directly next to there old location in Clarks summit PA and my northern PA route had a few recently closed locations like such. Very weird and eerie usually lol.
The Sheetz on route 272 and route 30 in Manheim Township Lancaster County was closed and rebuilt. They went down to the bear skeleton of the building and expanded it and rebuilt it and it’s still operating today.
I don’t think NJ doesn’t have sheetz but there is definitely Wawa like crazy in NJ haha
holy old school sheetz. thanks for the upload
Watching this while eating sheetz
There's a Sheetz literally on every corner in Hagerstown!
Sure seems like that, doesn’t it?
Been going to this sheets for over 20 some years. Still remember when you could only get a mto hoagie
There is one in Hagerstown along with 4 others that are being used for other stores
There are 2 of them within 15 miles from me, one in my town with the relocated store less than half a mile from the old one, less than 1/4 mile in the next town down
The one where I live wanted to move a block away..but they tore the old one down and in 2 months we had a new one with the same nasty employees....
The one in Bethlehem, PA was only 18 years old and they leveled it to build a new location. Not a remodel, a total leveled and new footprint and different design. New tanks, Pumps, and car wash.
They did the same in Morgantown, WV. There are 2 Sheetz within 2/10 of a mile of each other.
Use to go to this Sheetz all the time
Ha I was going to mention the one in Berkley springs but you mentioned it
Calcutta sheets also got demolished last I seen couple weeks ago was still in progress for the rebuild
Good find wallie there is a abandoned sheetz four miles from me. Keep up the good work 💯
Ive never seen a modern abandoned sheetz just the one he covered on his channel in PA I think. That one shit down to build their modern jumbo size.
Great video Wally any chance of you doing a store tour of an open Sheetz???
I didnt have any plans to do so at this time but never say never!
The older one here in Monongahela shut down and is getting rebuilt from the ground up
They are a abandoned Walgreens in small town in Southwest Virginia called Coeburn Virginia.
BOUT TO BE A BUNCH MORE TOO
Great video 😊 no horn this time :-( can’t wait for the next one 😊
There's an abandoned Sheetz in Halifax PA, an older style one, although the signage and such had been removed, they moved a little down the road.
Had a good buddy out in New Ken, this was my late-night stop for a few long years, because that McDonald's at the Murrysville 4-way would always cheat me on items in the witching hour. They wouldn't cheat me on the receipt, just the food, and I'd have to roll back through the line, ha. Good times, nice on doing this one.
Still looked like a nice modern store. It's smaller for Sheetz. I always see a bunch of these in NC but like you said none here in SC.
Awesome 👌 video man
There's soon to be 3 sheetz locations in strongsville ohio
I live in Altoona pa where they started there are several of the old locations that are other businesses now
Sheetz just opened by me, they are a pretty cool gas station however their food isn’t the best. Maybe it was just that location. Quiktrip just opened in Dayton and that’s very similar to Sheetz and it’s a pretty cool gas station.
Sheetz is okay. I'm very very familiar with QT. They're all over DFW and Texas in general. And NC and SC. Their food is okay. Honestly not any better than Sheetz.
@@WallieB26 Overall, the only gas station nobody can beat is Buc-ee’s. I love that place. I still need to make a trip down to Richmond again to visit.
Hi Wallie you should come to airport road here in Allentown Pennsylvania and check out the abandoned friendly s restaurant
Holy sheetz
If you happen to pass through Hagerstown, md in your travels off of exit 5B on 81 behind the Valley Mall is a abandoned Golden corral, back story is the people who own the mall property apparently own the same property had raised the lease so high the Golden Corral company decided to bail...
For the life of me I don't know why Sheetz stopped making the canopies go to the door. When it's pouring id always go to sheetz to get gas and food and stay dry
As always great video 👍
quality content as always
That Sheetz was a pain to get through the lot. Sheetz claims they don't have any keys because they never close.
Amazing how they totally rebuild these every 10 years or so. Seems like a waste of money.
Bc of the tank
I wonder if its being sold because all the utilities are still on. That might be a question for the employees at the new location. And yes the one in cheswick moved for more space . enjoyed watching. Thank you
They tore down the Sheetz at Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania on 422. They are currently building a updated version. The current version is soon done. Sinking Spring is West of Reading in Berks County.
There was abandoned sheetz in Keyser WV but its now a pawn shop. The new sheetz is a couple miles up the road
They did something similar in Weirton WV they built a bigger one closer to route 22 and the old one sat empty for a awhile and now it's another gas station.
I drove past this location when me and my buddy was out driving around he lives up in Pittsburgh pa
I want to stop and take a look myself but we were running late myself but we were running out of time
my aunt's town in rural NC just got a sheetz in november last year
My hometown in NC just got one too last November! Does your aunt happen to live in Granite Falls, NC?
@@gmanandhislady she lives in Miller's Creek
Home sweet home
I know in johnstown pa is a small old sheetz building in dale. It was sheets, then sunco, then some small crappy store and has been boarded up for years now.
Keep up the Good work and the videos
Wow! What the heck is going on in Plum? Too much unnecessary change.
Theres an abandoned Sheetz in Roanoke VA thats boarded up they relocated down the road 5 years ago and the building and punps etc is still there
Wallie there's one in Halifax on PA 147.
There's Sheetz in FL! When I was in Melbourne I saw a few along 95. I prefer Wawa or Rutter's 😂😅
They did redo the building somewhat in the last 10 years, and the inside does look updated a bit too. Strange how they just took SOME, but not all signs.
An abandoned Sheetz? 🤔🤯
They are building like crazy here in Ohio. We have Bucee's coming in. Heard Wawa is trying to expand into Ohio as well.
There was an abandoned Sheetz in Slippery Rock for the longest time (a really old one), as they built a brand new one a couple of blocks away. But the old one became a Dunkin Donuts in recent years.
Not sure why they would take the hose for the airpump i mean the thing still has power going to it and if you didnt want people using it just cut power to it and take the entire machine because you know even with the barriers people have seen the giant "air" sign on it and pulled in waiting to fill their tires only to discover there's no hose to it.
wow this location is ANCIENT
Hay wallie don't for get the one you did in cranberry twp ya did the old sheetz there
Yep. That was a long time ago. That, and the one in Berkeley Springs, WV.
Not really abandoned. They just moved further down the street. The building was just older and they needed a bigger building.
I CAN REMEMBER WHEN THEY FIRST STARTED, OUT OF ALTOONA PA , THEY WOULD TAKE OVER OLD STORES SUCH AS OPEN PANTRY, OR DUTCH PANTRY AND STARTED WITH THE FIRST 2 HOT DOGS FOR 99 CENTS W/ FREE TOPPINGS AND JUST KEPT GROWING WHO WOULD OF THUNK IT
Live in a small town sheetz is the only gas station in town got 2 of them
They had one like that at the bottom of the hill going into Meadville Pa. Don't know if it's still there, haven't been able to get back up there in 10 years.
No Sheetz bro! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Doesn't surprise me. They have opened about 25 or more in Columbus, Ohio , they are nice but they are over doing it, there is a lot of competition there
Don’t Forget About The Abandoned Sheetz You Filmed In Cranberry Township Pa, Wallie lol
Sheetz has built 8 locations in the last two years within 20 miles of my house. They have started construction on 4 more. It's crazy how many they've built around here. A very rare find for sure.
Interesting I don't think I was ever in a Sheetz until they came into the Columbus area a few years ago (maybe I did when I was with an ex visiting her family stopping for gas in WV but this would have been almost 30 years ago so I honestly don't remember). Was this their usual, or one of their usual layouts? Definitely small compared to the locations open
today.
That was very interesting
Wallie! Is the Original Hot Dog Shop building still there in Plum? I remember when it was open when we lived out there and then it maybe closed about a decade ago.
I think when Sheetz started in Hagerstown Maryland area they used old esso gas stations... The one in Williamsport Maryland next to the new one was definitely an old esso station. One up the road on Virginia Ave across from dominos shut down due to crime... One on eastern Blvd shut down due to crime, on on Potomac ave was really bad with crime shut down.. They were definitely old gas stations or 7 elevens also.... They have two new ones on Sharpsburg pike about a mile apart. And another new one on downsville pike.. One on dual highway across from McDonald's another crime area has a really old Sheetz use to go to in my younger years. Fence around it not sure it's shut down being tore down or remodeling.... Criminals love a Sheetz at night time at least around here .
I'm willing to bet someone else other then Sheetz took that sign.
There was a sheetz in green i'd stop at on my way to hartville that was recently demolished i believe it was demolished to expand the road
