Noel knows his place in British music history, both his and Oasis are guaranteed. And quite rightly.

Such a humble guy. In 1997 I was in a music equipment store in birmingham and walked into a demo room by mistake. I said sorry to a guy who sat at a mixing console in front of me and in the corner of my vision was noel, he sat on a amp arched over a white electric guitar with price tags handing off it. I turned to noel and said, sorry, I didnt know there was someone in here. Noel said, its ok come in. I said oh I dont want to disturb you, and i turned round to walk out. I heard noel say, do us a favour pal, close the door behind ya, nice one. I remember him smiling as he spoke, and that he appeared to be really small. Nice guy.

Then I got tickets to their first U.S. tour in Dallas and it blew me away. After that I learned guitar and learned how to play Talk Tonight. My first song I ever learned all the way through singing and playing. Recorded it on a shitty little tape recorder with one Radio Shack microphone. Saw them on the Moring Glory tour and learned all those songs as well. Met one of my best mates that year and the first song we played together the night we met was Don't Look Back in Anger. Let's just say I've been a fan since the beginning in 1994. I'm 51 now.

Great interview. Very glad Gibson put Noel in their Icon series of videos. I know he has had tons of success and made millions, and people love his music. But specifically as a Guitarist, he is truly underrated. I don't think even he has an understanding of how good he is. Fine, he's not gonna shred like a metal guy or write these intricate parts, but if the criteria of a great guitarist is their unique SOUND, a tone that grabs you and won't let go, then, yeah, the man's one of the greats.
The classic era, with Bonehead playing the barre chords, Noel wailing on his semi-hollow, that gigantic friggin sound, put on any of those tracks and you know instantly who it is. It literally could not be anyone else, even before Liam starts singing. That's a band, and a guitarist, with a SOUND.
