  • There are so many rumours about how much it costs to run a classic Ferrari, so I thought it might be useful to have an owner's perspective on just how much it costs to run a Ferrari F355 Spider for a year. Let me know what you think in the comments!

Great video. I bought mine almost 6 years ago and love every minute behind the wheel. The sound and the looks are to die for. BTW, I have the Hyperflow cats and a Tubi muffler. I just can't seem to part with it. It's an addiction.

Good useful information, delivered well. I am seriously considering one now, and I have begun doing some research. I think there are cars that required 5-10k spent on them, its just that they tend to be neglected ones that you have to watch out for. The rumors are not entirely false then, however as you say though, it is important to get one that has been used (but not abused!) and these astronomical costs can be better managed and avoided. Cheers

I had my F355 now for 11 years. Two or three thousand Euro (or Dollar or Pound) per year is totally unrealistic. These are old cars. To fit only, for example, the suspension or the sticky parts will cost you some 3 to 5 thousand Euro. Can belt, water pump and electric devices will add massively. My average costs from 11 years owning my Ferrari F355 GTS are 5000 Euro maintenance, 1500 Euro insurance and 500 tax per year - in summa 7000 Euro per Year. And I have no issus about valves or manifold. Btw. the F355 is a gorgeous car - one of the greatast cars you can buy - only a little bit sensible...

Owning an F355 pininfarina is more of a statement about yourself.

As always, the F355 is a mixed bag. I got away with only a few hundred pounds in maintenance last year, partly because I was able to do everything myself. I did start buying spare parts for the future (before they are no longer available).
Of course there will be bad years., but it's a beautiful car and totally worth it.

The engine-out belt service is the big one. If you can’t afford $10,000 to do this every 5 years, you can’t afford this car. Ferrari designed it this way to increase their “maintenance revenues”...

@@ny6u My local independent ex-Ferrari tech charges U$2000 for labour on an engine out service. Belts, filters, spark plugs, fluids, etc, are not that expensive. Even Ferrari dealers in the UK (if you're there) are not much more expensive. Sure, if you don't keep up with maintenance and let the problems build up over the years, you are going to get some horror bills. My next 5 year service won't be over $3k (parts and labour).
I hear a lot of RUclipsrs saying the same thing as you, but only horror stories get the click/likess. Maybe they forgot to tell you that they also took the opportunity to change the half the exhaust system and the clutch during that service. Go to a website like FerrariChat (348/355) and see how well your comment is received.

Here where I live it costs 230 pound each year for a 355 bcoz its a veteran and very little accident and none registered stolen Ferrari......and I have seen a video on RUclips that he changed the time belt from under the car with out pulling the Hole engine out.
