Brandon Ivey it’s loud. You might just get there with the 22, but the 40 will definitely do it. What’s ‘shocking’ is that because this thing is running in stereo the speaker size almost becomes irrelevant. I rarely go past ten o’clock with this and it’s loud. Loads of headroom. I didn’t believe it myself until I owned one. Whack a stereo pedal board through it and you’re done.
Jason, thanks for your description, I was doubting whether I could be used for rehearsals with a band, but I got the impression that that is possible too. The fact that is stereo is a winner I think. Thnx👍
Have to wonder if Roland is some using a different formula for coming up with the power ratings. A good comparison between the JC-22 and the older JC-55 would be interesting. Size and weight are very close.
They all have that unmistakably jazz chorus clean tone. The 120 is VERY loud, so if you're planning to use it at home, go with the 40 or 22. All take pedals really well and all sound very good, so the main difference between them is volume. Also the distortion is slightly improved in the JC40 compared to the JC120.
Or perhaps two (2) Fender Champion 20's. lets see that would be 40 watts total, 2 of 8" speakers, reverb, reverb+chorus, delay, vibrato, tremolo, distortion and 8 choices of modelled amps. etc and at $99 each that would only cost $198 for two amps. Best part, you can separate them any distance you want in order to get the stereo effect best suited for the room. Yes you need to purchase a $29 Galaxy Audio JIB/S 4 way splitter so you can run 1, 2, 3 or 4 different amps from a single guitar. Total cost $227. I already have one Fender Champion 20 and the Galaxy Audio JIB/S 4-way splitter, so it's only another$98 for me to have such a rig. Right now I am using a Fender Frontman 15G as the second amp, or sometimes my Fender Vibro Champ tube amp with tube tremolo/vibrato with adjustable speed. I make those jazz feelings "faces" as well!
@@JCBigCat I posted here 11 months ago and whatever it was that I was replying to is gone so I have no context as to what you're replying to me about. Anyway, yes it's really two amplifiers in one. Ok, so I watched the video again and surmised that I was responding to the guy in the video saying "It's a single channel amplifier." which, as you and I have both pointed out, it is not. If anything it is a TRUE 2 channel amplifier in that each channel has its own power amp.
Gene Nery the chorus is a fixed affect, can't be modified, only on the jc-40 it can be modified. but on the 120,22, and 55 the two knobs only function for the vibrato channel, the amp runs in stereo, one speaker is clean, and another speaker has the vibrato running, giving it the chorus sound, when on the vibrato mode both speaker have vibrato, only then the 2 knobs work.
@@albert1908, I see what you're saying but honestly, I believe that most people really only care about the chorus effect on this amp - me included. You might miss the vibrato feature but I don't think anyone else will. I loved the JC-120 but there are 2 things I don't miss about it; its weight and the vibrato effect. Also, technically, the chorus isn't "fixed" since it does in fact have speed and depth controls. It's just missing the vibrato effect. That doesn't make it a fixed chorus effect because a true "fixed" chorus would not have speed and depth controls and nobody would want a fixed chorus effect. Nobody.
Here is a fun fact. It's a 30w amp but Roland could not call it a JC-30 because it sounds to much like AC30.
totally wondered why it was "22"
meanwhile orange : lol ad30
I had a Marshall stereo chorus 212 that sounded amazing!
At least he acknowledges the lack of a second mic... with only one speaker you’re getting vibrato, not chorus.
You need two mics, all we're getting is the detuned right channel...
Yep. They managed to make the amp sound bad....and it's a great sounding amp.
Certainly sounds great but folks you're right, they just did not record it properly, shame!!
Is that why it sounded so very, very bad! I didn't want to say anything because I thought that it was him, I'm relieved that he does not suck so bad.
They recorded it fine, moron.
Yeah this guy is a dope
Seriously a failure not to include a second microphone for stereo sound.
Makes it sound like a Jazz Vibrato rather than Jazz Chorus.
The "after dinner theater" version of "Appetite for Destruction" makes this video. Thanks, Dagan!
The BEST S/S practice amp. Just BYO favourite OD/Distortion/Fuzz pedal.
It is actually a 30W amp.

@@tonakkie635 not sure about this one in particular, but I used to rehearse with the JC-40 and I could never set the volume higher than 9/10 o'clock.
@@JCBigCat Great, thanks, Ton
Brandon Ivey it’s pretty loud, seriously. I played one and would have sweared the speakers sounded like 2x10
You only put a mic on the modulated speaker. You need both to get the awesome chorus effect! 😀
Hey guys, is it 30 Watts? I want really sure, in reading all the comments...
"now listen to that fabulous stereo chorus kids!" Only puts mic on one speaker
Not going to lie i loved the vibrato effect and i wish the JC22 had the option to kill the dry like the JC40 has
You can sorta dial it in tbf
i dig your reviews 😎

Good review, but you need two mics.
I love you Dagen.... but I so need to hear this amp in stereo with a hollow body guitar.. fingerstyle!!!
Can it do Rock & Metal with some pedals ?
It’s 30 Watts
Sounds great with a Pro Rat pedal
Hey Roland: Add the distortion control to the JC-22s. It is past time.
It’d be nice to have the option but if they’re gonna leave something out, I’m fine with it being that buzzy distortion
So is this a jazz amp? Thank you.
This is a jazz chorus amp
yes only for jazz
Use chorus in jazz? I don't think so
So it's not only a jazz amp😊
It’s 30 watts
Is it actually worth the money?
Like, is there a difference in quality between the jc120, 40, and 22? Or is it just a difference in size and volume?

This guy can play without distortion?
Give this guy some cake and ten Red Bulls 😂
For home.use only. I cant decide which to go for, the jc22 or jc40. Help anyone??
Jc 22 is Enough. Same size speaker.as the jc40 and 30 watts instead of 40. Plenty of.power for home.
@@dnipllr4057 The JC-22 has 6,5" speakers, the JC-40 has 10" speakers
Shure SM57 made all Amplifiers =.
I don't like the "If you're a beginner" line. This seems like a worthy amp for any level. Just sayin...
nice review!
I don’t know why but my Japanese wife won’t stop laughing at your reactions. I think you have gift for making people happy.
It's not a 22 watt amp..
Uhh... it clearly has 2 channels.
Exactly!
No. It has two amplifiers, it's very different.

What model ibanez is that you are playing?
This is stereo and you recorded it in mono. Terrible
Recording one speaker on a stereo amp... lol
the chorus is fixed
NOPE.
JCBigCat YUP.

too pricey for a small solid state amp. get two micro cubes and run em in stereo for cheaper.
At this price point, at least make it a 1x12...
Whyaye man
U need to put a mulity effects processor for heavy rock they sound fantastic. But U need to no how to set up a good sound.and above all no how to play
Legen dree
Lol stereo recorded with one mic
Terrible review
Puny god!!
he is no sense... he can only foolish rock
:(
Its out of tune
No, they just recorded one speaker so that's why it sounds like that
Guitar is out of tune -__-
Nah, they just mic'd one speaker instead of two
🤮
