@@velim3967 I did 3 months OTR at Schneider for the experience. As soon as I found a local job I left Schneider. I think any of the mega carriers are a good start to learn and get some experience and then you can decide where to go from there. Look for a company that has a terminal close to you. The only downside is the money is not gonna be great. It’ll be good but not great. I’m currently a local route driver for McLane and the money here is great.

Really digging these videos. My grandfather was a trucker. He used to pick up the hay bales somewhere out near Blythe and brought them back to some yard that served a bunch of ranches in the Riverside area.
I used to go with him on his drives chilling with the dog, helping with what I could as I was just a kid. The best part was the TA truck stop and getting those breakfast platters late at night.

Lordy, that thing sounds fantastic!! I've been running trucks for years (and some REALLY nice ones) but none sounded like that!! I've run a 2017, 2018, and 2019 Western Star quint axle dump truck with the DD13. While amazingly capable, reliable, nice, they lack the soul of a truck like this. My new truck (to me) next month will be a 2001 KW that's been rebuild from the frame up. It has a Cummins ISM, Eaton 13 speed, with a PDI turbo, has been tuned, EGR deleted, diesel freak harness and twin 6 inch stacks. It's basically a brand new 2001!! I'll be hauling sand for a local asphalt plant all season and I can't wait to get started. My current truck at my current company is a bone stock 2013 International with the MaxxForce, a Eaton 10 speed, on a short haul drop gate delivery run. The crazy part is my current company can't figure out why I'm leaving?? Sometimes life throws you a bone!

I moved out of California about 3 yrs ago. It was home and friends but living there had become a negative. I wanted more for my kids, by more I mean, real people, not people keeping up with the Jones but real people. Picked up and moved to Oklahoma where my mom moved around 88' my stepdad worked for Sooner Freight, retired, missed the road Went to Knight. Think he wanted that last load. Anyway I don't blame you for wanting put of Cali. I just found your channel and you have an approach that my dad did, my stepdad and my brother. You'd think I'd drive as much as I was surrounded by it and parents owning trucks and leasing them out to Kern's Food in back in the day. I chose a boxing life but man I cought your video and talking about the Jake brake, for me, there's no better sound.. thanks for your videos, and helping me take a trip back in time..

It always amazes me these younger guys with tricked out trucks and everything....I drove some tricked out rigs but man I would have loved to own my own. Guess it just works out for some better than others. Nice ride.

My dad hated driving trucks in California. He said Highway Patrol had vendetta against truckers and this was back in the late 80s early 90s. After that he started taking loads cross country. He liked that better.
