7:22 and onward is so good. And not just by Ayoade, either. The others seriously going along with it made it possible for Ayoade to keep the bit going.
Little Luna Well, in France we do have a saying that basically goes like "a laughing woman is half-way in your bed" so you're probably on the receiving hand of that feeling haha
See if you can dig up an old Never Mind The Buzzcocks that he hosted, he starts it off by telling everyone he refuses to stoop to the level of 'jokes', and proceeds to be the funniest person there for the duration nonetheless. s26e07 I think.
Sean Meehan He's also really good in "was it something I said" The first episode especially is brilliant, Jimmy Carr and David Ayoade on one team with David Mitchell as host, really can't go wrong
I wonder what Jimmy was thinking when Richard looked straight at him and out of nowhere mentioned "tax dodging." I imagine it was something like "Oh, shit. Does he know?"
Mr Duke Silver yeah. I do find there is a sense of politics entering it now, but for a long time, the humour has felt more raw than American quiz, political comedy shows. Like, there was a time when they use to make jokes about Islam and racist jokes, and now its kind of filtering away. There use to be no barriers to any of it. Political Correctness is ruining everything
Can't remember which season it's in, but there's an episode of The IT Crowd where he tries to pass for a manly man (learns football hooligan speak and stuff) and he uses that voice then too.
Noel and Richard completely fit their characters from the I.T Room. Noel is odd, yet compassionate, like Richmond. Richard is pedantic and logical, lacking real compassion like moss. (Btw: I'm talking about the personas that Richard and Noel use on these chat shows.)
Best Ayoade moment for me was on "as yet untitled" when I think it was alan that said "who could possibly dislike Richard Ayoade" and the only person raising his hand was … Richard Ayoade :)
One of my favorite, underrated moments in this quiz Richard did was he was in a team with Gabby Logan and they did the question about what Susan Boyle had as a bad hashtag: # BeMoreRacist. Always kills me.

Rich and Noel acting like school kids makes me lose it everytime
phoenixsplash135 was it your mum?
No seriously was it your mum?
your mum buys bargain garden furniture tho innit ?
She buys the cheap garden furniture as well.
she's gettin the real cheap shit as well
it confuses me how complementary noel and richard are as a team next to one another, its strangely natural
H M I mean they're both sort of weirdo outsider characters.
They were also on it crowd together
Always Mad Dont forget The Mighty Boosh!
@@alwaysmad3016 I swear Richard was a wizard of weird on it crowd. One day I'll have to track him down and become his apprentice lol.

I love the fact that Richard usually has such a great poker face but a your mum jokes makes him burst into laughter
I'm delighted that that's his level of humour

That's because your mum jokes are, and forever will be hilarious

@andrew chase She's dead.
The water pressure discussion is legendary.
Right?? I've never been so delighted to watch someone take a panel show on such a mundane tangent. The man's got skills.
and noel's face made it even better
How he says “That might be the problem” is fucking hilarious
luedog4life 'a Welsh one! I live in London lol
I genuinely have this problem in my flat right now
Richard Ayoade is a national icon. This isn't even debatable. He is a legend
International*
Depends who you ask. So it can be debated.
@@projekt1_FK gotta admit I can't stand him
@Ivan Clements Depends. For Richard Ayoade I might have to rethink that question.
Not a national icon. He's very funny but he's also part Norwegian or something for a start.
i swear half of being a comedian is keeping a straight face.
how he didn't start laughing when talking about the water pressure is beyond me
Why would he laugh, it was a serious discussion.
I love how the mum joke broke him 😂
@@JamesForster1123 It's the only joke I've seen him crack for 😂
The trick is to not think you're funny. Then it's a game of who will laugh first :)
Half of it is the material, half of it is execution/the character
I love that bit about Jimmy's mom
because it is the closest you ever see Ayoade to cracking up
JackDManheim he cracks up when he jokes about some comedians DVD.. cant remember which year it was of bfq.
Watch it crowd bloopers. He fully cracks up and it’s glorious
Agreed! The IT Crowd bloopers will have you giggling with glee because he actually laughs!!
He was cracking up every time he is with Bob Mortimer.
He cracked up for Bad Dong
can we agree that Richard and noel are the best teaming ever?
It's them or Sean and Corden!
i prefer noel and russell, but i do understand this being a good team
Nah man. Russel just isn't funny.... at all... to me.
I'd vote either noel and Richard or Sean and corden.
Only one team could beat this one - Noel and Ju

Anon Nymous they are perfect together! Such a weird duo whose comedic stylings pair so well!
I love when he and David Mitchell are paired
classic stuff, the jokester and the straight man(not sexuality, comedic terminology)
I'd love to see him with brand, did that ever happen?
+Fari they paired up at least twice, the Goth Detectives was their team name once

His poker face is stone cold
Stone face killer

Richard’s Nightmare: The Gunge Tank
Every time Noel says "she was getting the real cheap shit as well", I scream-laugh.
5:57 holy shit. I don't think I've ever seen Richard show facial expressions like that! He even laughed! What is happening???
Takes some high brow comedy to break his deadpan demeanour.
I do believe this is the only time I've seen him break character. Did you notice his voice got a bit deeper as well? It's a little sexy.
He had to put his "bully" voice on.
Watch IT crowd bloopers. He properly cracks up.
He broke his public persona.

Sean Meehan Try 'Man to Man with Dean Lerner' or 'Garth Marenghi's Darkplace'. Both made before The IT crowd and he's hilarious in both
