It's amazing how we go through life taking things like pens for granted, not really giving any thought to the science and manufacturing process behind it. Thanks for this fascinating and informative video.
An extremely informative video. I love BIC pens and my favourite is the 4 Colour Fluo of which i have around 200 as I'm a diarist. BIC will always be the best.
I actually have 2 Bic pens that miraculously have stayed with me (?!) that are completely out of ink. They are now in a position of honor in my office - in a picture frame on the wall. What are the odds?
My last comment got deleted (!). I have 2 Bic pens that miraculously stayed with me their entire serviceable life. They are now in a picture frame in my office. Weird, I know. But unique.
Fountain pens didn't all run $70. I used them through middle school, and I probably paid $5 apiece. As for ballpoints being smooth or reliable, they make tiny skips and blots, which is why I've switched to gel ink pens.
Totally false. Marcel Bich did NOT invent the ball point pen. The ball point pen was invented by a Hungarian man named László Jósef Bíró and his brothers György, a chemist (pardon any typos-Hungarian is very complicated with lots of accent marks). László was a journalist, and who in writing hastily for deadlines, admired the ink used to print newspaper dried much more quickly than fountain paper ink. He tried using that ink in a fountain pen, but it was too thick. He and his brother invented the ball point pen, and made a few prototypes, then Hitler and WWII came along. The brothers somehow escaped from Germany and ended up in Argentina, and made their first production pens there. To this day, ball point pens in Argentina (and a few other countries) are still called Biro’s. The first big user of ball point pens was the UK’s Royal Air Force. Navigators and radio operators in bombers had to make lots of calculations and notes while flying. Fountain pens were unusable, because the ink would freeze. Pencils worked, but were much harder to read in dim light (all that was allowed in a plane, so the enemy would not spot the planes). Ball point pens solved the problem. Bich paid Biro for the rights to sell pens in certain countries, including the US. Bich dropped the h to make his name more marketable, and the rest is history.
I understand that ballpoint pens are cheap and easy to use for most, but in hindsight, they're also a significant cause of plastic littering, as tons of them end up in landfills every single year (if they make it that far). It's a shame they are still being sold in such enormous quantities when there are so many better alternatives that can be used over and over again.
@@MrPLC999 So, you're saying that because one industry creates plastic waste, it's okay for others to do it too? I'm not saying lowering the use of disposable pens alone will solve the entire world's problem with plastic, but at least there exists an alternative for that, unlike for the healthcare industry. Since you 'seem' to be all-knowing, why don't you tell the world how we should solve the issue of disposable plastic?
Watching this video makes you wonder just how many disposable pens have gone to landfill since their invention. Perhaps more effort should now be made to make the bodies at least recyclable, maybe using compostable bamboo.
Hmmmm maybe if you watch and listen to the video you would understand how they are made, I did and I understand now, I fail to see how you don’t or how you think that insulting the people presenting the story is the right thing to do and will give you any sort of understanding
@@philipbyrnes7501That's because most people find it hard to understand the most simple things. I'm sure it's not their fault that they're a little bit slow.
It's been said, to make a Bic lighter, it cost .002 cents, not in dollars and this was 15 years ago, to produce a lighter. I'm sure they also have a high overhead cost but still!
The problem with this world is that people had no respect for pioneers and they profit of invention by other people mercilessly and that discourage innovation led to mire costly and high inflation
Many of the clips in this video have been taken from another older video, the narrative and words are similar too. Is this channel just ai generated junk or stilen videos?
Thanks for this fascinating and informative video

Thanks for this fascinating and informative video.
My man just omitted Lazlo Biro from the story from whom Louis Bich bought the patent for $2 millions. Bravo!
Amazing process!!!! Thanks for the vid.
Can you do Bic lighters next?
Razors too
Amazing idea 💡
absolutely not
It's a very good pen. But my preferred one is papermate, which is in decline.

Excellent factory.
Can't believe its been 73 years and they still make the bic cristal
Who haven’t had a BIC pen 🖊️🥹🤓 amazing video
Xprocess, Subscribed because your videos always make me smile!
Thank You so much!
People keep buying them, because they keep disappearing 😂

My first comment is BAAACK!
@@Colorado_Native I've had that experience too, a glitch in YT.
Great video 💯
Thank YOU!
1:28 yes, the factory is in my city. I live in Daman, India.
Does the factory have working toilets?

Bic also produces hi-fi speakers. I have a set and they work very well.
I'll never look at a bic pen the same way again
2:40 nice work stealing videos from other creators like demolition ranch…. 🙄
That pen ruined my Boss suit and my silk shirt, just because a lady gave me a soft hug.
Bic lighter haven't killed me yet but I wait for it.

The Health Care Industry is by far the biggest user of disposable plastic products. And how would you ever change that?

How about just enjoy the video and save the agenda for a college campus?
Ok Karen
R hi didn’t know until a week ago that big pens were that popular
I particularly enjoy your commentary! Thanks!
I have 3 kittens and their mom asleep on me right now. Wont be cute for long, but it sure is right now.

How do they even make bic pens 🖊️

I have a new Forged in Fire idea...
you might try showing how the pens are made rather than just jabbering on and on.

low attention span
So a ballpoint pen is essentially a scaled-down roll-on deodorant
🤘
Is it weird that pens and lighters ....two of the most stolen things in the world are made by the same company. I think so. This was very interesting.

Sounds like an ad.
This has almost the exact same script as a couple other videos....
i knew the BIC pens in our country are not original because what is produced is not what we buy, or do BIC recycle them and package for resale?
The ball were first of fission nuclear research

0:25 actually allah (swt) did
Hahah, sell your clothes ay!
Did he plan the venturi that made the ink flow faster into the nub, or was that just an accident? It's pretty ingenious as a design.
It is Allah the almighty magnificent who taught man how to use the pen
nope it was the spaghetti monster
@@ronblack7870 That's the Great Spaghetti Monster, GSM.
@user-lj7jk5lv5f We taught each other how to use them.
