They weren't pioneers by any stretch of the imagination. Dolls, Stooges, Ramones, etc. were pioneers. However, Ness carried the torch far longer and enjoyed more overall success than any of his forebearers or successors for that matter. While all the others have come and gone for the most part, Ness is still standing. He's universally respected in both the punk scene and among more mainstream rock 'n' rollers. No easy feat!
He's tuned down half a step to Eb. The song in this rendition is in Bb. It's a VII IV I progression. He is doing some palm muting which you almost have to do when you're playing open chords like he is.
Some people like to gamble, But you, you always lose. Some people like to rock 'n' roll, You're always singin' the blues You gotta nasty disposition, No one really knows the reason why, You gotta bad, bad reputation, Gonna hang your head down and cry You got bad, bad luck Bad, bad luck You got bad, bad luck Bad, bad luck Thirteen's my lucky number, To you it means stay inside. Black cat done crossed my path, No reason to run and hide. You're looking through a cracked mirror, No one really knows the reason why. Your enemies are gettin' nearer, Gonna hang down your head and cry You got bad, bad luck Bad, bad luck You got bad, bad luck Bad, bad luck Some people go to church on Sundays, Others they pray at home. You tell them that there ain't no God, That they're better off standin' alone. You're always scratchin' at the eight ball, No one really knows the reason why. You get to the top and then you fall, Gonna hang down your head and cry.
Sad, I love Social Distorion. But as a musician I know a lot of musicians that won't ever even get a chance because of circumstance and etc.. It's all politics. That's why we as listeners are being robed of good music.. It's all set up. It has nothing to do with talent or work ethic.. It's all about who supports you..
It's all vapid, soulless POP music filtered thru vapid POP media to mindless, unthinking and unthinkable POP devours of nothingness. Original thought or sound is no longer allowed. All which Social D #1 public enemy since NO ONE looks, sounds or creates like Mike D! The defiance starts here and now!
What are you talking about? Lol social d is fucking huge.! They just choose not to go stadium mainstream platform. They aren’t sellouts. They are millionaires because of their music and the can and have support their families. That’s the important thing. They don’t need or want mainstream stardom. They are true pink rockers
Mike Ness often tunes to an Eb and capos first fret. He does this because he nearly cut off his pointer finger Yeats ago (check out Mike Ness In Search of Tone.") No capo here, but he might be tuned half step down.
I agree. In a normal studio recorded song he kicks ass with backup vocals. But as far as acoustic bathroom recordings go.. hes better of staying quiet and holding the camera. :D
Pioneers of punk. I grew up in Orange County.

Is he playing A E B5? I think so and it sounds ok but not sure
Matthew Guzek G D A with some palm muting, easy song. I play in standard tuning but he might be a tuned a half step down

Is Mike Ness palm-muting while playing?
yes in verses
Lil bit

This has been slowed down for who knows what reason. It should be played somewhere between 1.25 and 1.5 speed.
damn, who left the seat up?
Never mess aroung with mr 2 bags! That's simply a bad audio recording!
Mike should really keep that guitar away from the toilet. Please.
Sick! except that guy in the corner yelling kind of ruins it.
ProFab pretty sure it’s just some real bad audio issues
That’s what makes it better fool
