I love the prequels because they made the Star Wars universe much bigger. Without them we would never have received Bane, Plagueis, Revan and many other characters and stories.
Wasn't Kotor an idea when before TPM?
Traj Nope, the release was 2003, TPM was 1999.
But didn't BioWare had plans to make this game few years prior? Like in 1997?
Traj That was 2000. Google is your friend 😁
The idea of a pre-Clone Wars era story has been around since Exar Kun appeared in the Jedi Academy trilogy. His character was expanded upon in the Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Sith comics and radio plays. But by then, Lucas had already begun working on the prequels. But The Phantom Menace not only opened the door to so much new material, it also linked the movies to the Expanded Universe content by including the planet Coruscant and a lot of other things that so far had only appeared in the books. Hell, Palpatine's name never even appeared in the original trilogy but was frequently mentioned in the Thrawn trilogy.
The prequels despite all their flaws, at their core have one of the most heartbreaking, and sobering stories I can think of. The grandness of it all, the history. I can't even put it into words. It's just so incredible
They actually have original, creative and interesting plots unlike the wannabe original trilogy that is the sequel trilogy. They have really cool and interesting plots but are flawed by cringe worthy moments. But their action scenes are some of the greatest in cinematic history in my opinion.
They are every bit as good as the original trilogy.
Stop badmouthing great films!
@@fundhund62 indes the greatest Part of the Prequels are the politic decisions that Lead to the empire
Ineveeaso why soem fans hae the orequels i because ey tought is was going to have a good ending but no so they just had the wrong expectation
There is also the whole thing about the greatest finale in the last 30 years.
Thanks man. Sometimes I feel alone out there defending the prequels.
Your not alone! :)
The Prequels certainly have their flaws, but I personally believe that Revenge of the Sith is superior to any of the current Sequel films. I also consider the Prequels to have contributed more to the lore and mythology of Star Wars than the Sequels or even the Originals.
Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones were brilliant from a purely creative standpoint
George Lucas made a mistake by trying to show too much in too little time. He should have made the Phantom Menace as a fun little stand alone film, and then made three, not two, films about the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker.
The Prequels are OK, but when you watch the Clone Wars animated series, you can see how the characters are expanded, and have time to grow. It makes them great.
Grubnar my thoughts exactly
Even Attack of the Clone and the Phantom Menace were more original, creative, and more meaningful than the entire sequel trilogy combined.
@@Obi-Wan_Kenobi IKR, Master of The High Ground
"It is a story of the blurred line between our best, and our worst."
That is the true core, the true heart of what Star Wars is.
Prequels like uncut diamond in Star Wars. They are diamonds, but they were not cuted in proper form so people might like them.
Spirit of Nature Thats a very good way of describing it in my opinion
They are perfect the way they are!
@@fundhund62 agreed
Prequels is how I found about Old republic which is my favorite era now.
Prequels gave us this meme called Jar-Jar
ROTS was my absolute favorite star wars movie
Without prequels star wars would be so empty just imagine if prequels never happened and the sequels were movies made after it... imagine how different and weird star wars universe would be
Mlg Sty prequels also gave us The Clone Wars and also gave us Natalie Portman ♡
'This meme called Jar Jar' is really funny. He's not bad in the films, he's a bit annoying in the books because you have to read like him, and he's just absolutely the worst in the Clone Wars. Film Jar Jar is like Obi-Wan if you compare film Jar Jar to Clone Wars Jar Jar, in my opinion.
@@Miguel-yx9zg back to the future is really cliche'd and doesn't challenge the audience to think critically or change their views. The prequels force you to have sympathy for a future villain, to understand the complications, lost opportunities, disgusting seduction, and hardship that led him down the dark path he followed.
@@Miguel-yx9zg Your view is extremely biaised I have never seen anyone in this millennia watch A New Hope and say I want to watch more of it, the movie aged terribly and cannot even compete with what's on the table these days, most people I know directly judged star wars to be bad and boring after watching ep 4 because everyone keeps saying watch them on release order, but in the OT the only one that is still watchable is ESB, ANH is literally a casual " knight saving a princess" movie, nothing original about it a part from the setting, the prequels on the other hand while they are not better movies than the originals can still do the work of introducing fans into star wars, hell I usually tell people to watch a summary of TPM and AOTC and directly watch ROTS, this tactic has never failed so far. But strip away the nostalgia and all, both trilogies have old decaying special effects, cheesy acting and cheesy dialogue.
I love the prequels, because they indeed make you understand more about the undertones. They make you think of the flaws but also qualities of the Jedi Order & Anakin as an intrinsically good person. It makes you understand that he’s a genuine tragic character, who only fell down the dark path for wanting to do good
Lucas is a genius. The prequels are great. Now with the sequel trilogy, I reconfirmed it.
Thanks
Oh my god... 20 seconds in and I'm weeping.
So incredibly well put. Thank you for making this, I'm just speechless
nothing will beat the prequels for me.
Jake Owers same
Right with ya buddy.
Same - the Prequels are SW at its best.
@@gustavramirez2891 Absolutely!
I'm glad to see someone who ignores the flaws and sees the prequels as the glorious diamonds of Star Wars that they are
That was beautiful. Thank you. I'm of the generation that's supposed to love the OT and hate the Prequels, but to be honest, I think I prefer the Prequels most days. They're tragic and thought-provoking.
The sequels will never have the same charm as the prequels did.
Perhaps not, but I remember people saying the same thing about the prequels compared to the original trilogy. :) While all have flaws, some more obvious than others, I feel it would be a mistake to dismiss something out of hand. While I would not have made the sequels as they are, there are some interesting ideas and characters in the two films we've gotten so far. I'm not saying that your wrong (because I wouldn't know if you are or not) only that I see more and more criticism levied against TFA and TLJ (which is fair) and less and less praise for the good aspects of said films (which I feel is a real shame).
All the same, at the end of the day, a made-up fantasy universe is what you make of it. Be that a young farm boy racing down the trenches of a planet-destroying super-weapon, two former brothers dueling to the death on a world of fire and brimstone, or a lost child striking down his father and falling into the darkness. Perhaps I'm to easy on such things, but I don't think so. I love Star Wars and I take it as it is. Good, bad, old, and new.
@@onenerd9573 The issue we have with the Sequels is that those films hold no identity. With the OT, it was like watching Flash Gordon, it was an epic, an adventure where we got to watch this person become a hero and save the galaxy. The prequels are the equivalent of a Shakespearean tragedy, one that focuses on corruption, betrayal, the war between brothers, the failure of love, the ideology of putting too much faith into a system while that system betrays you, the manipulation of a father figure. It allowed for us to see why the old republic feel, why this galaxy filled with trillions of life forms could allow a tyrannical government to thrive. Because the sequels are trying too hard to be like the OT, it doesn't have it's own identity, it doesn't have it's own presence that would allow for it to stand on its own, and as such are extremely forgettable.
@@jish55 Your allowed to have your own opinions. I respectfully disagree. :)
@@onenerd9573 Interesting ideas in the sequels? Must have missed that part..
@@fundhund62 probably something about the force being female, etc
Long live the prequels !
The Prequels are underrated af. Also, I have a suggestion, make a video around/about the time travel thing in Rebels.
Especially Revenge of The Sith .
@@DuduFilm I love the prequels. Idc what those haters have to say.
@@DuduFilm I also think Hayden Christensen played his role perfectly.
I dont't understand why people prefer the interior of an spaceship than all the magnificent places of the prequels!
Beautiful 💛 the prequels were the first Star Wars films I saw and The Clone Wars was the first show I ever really followed for it's time running. The Clone Wars era is the most tragic part in the Star Wars universe and these films changed Star Wars forever whether it be good or bad. These films aren't the best and are executed, yes even I who is a big prequel groopie see's that but the story is so depth-defying and heartbreaking if you can look pass along it's flaws. And its like you said at the beginning of the video... These characters choices and stories are done and nothing can go back in time and change what happened to everyone who either died, was manipulated, or walked away from it all... These films are masterpieces and only people with a good eye for films can truly see that.
I grew up on the prequels, they have their flaws but I love them. Revenge of the Sith is still my favorite of the whole series, the way it portrayed Anikin's fall and Vader's rise, it's such a drastic tone shift compared to the other movies, I love it.
They don't have any more flaws than the original trilogy.
And I grew up with the OT.
@@fundhund62 Yes they do. The prequels do not sport the same charming camraderie of lead characters as in the original trilogy, which is an important reason behind why they were less well received at debut. And yet, the prequels conclude majestically with episode III, making them the equal of the original trilogy thanks to that movie being a storytelling powerhouse. The sequels are of course trash and to be ignored.
@@KarakNornClansman And how is that a flaw? 😅 It's just a different story.
@@fundhund62 Personally I agree, and it is important to tell a different story. But lots of other viewers didn't agree. There is some video series around on RUclips which explore an alternative script for the Prequels.
While I don't agree with that much in said series (in fact I think Lucas made a lot of right decisions even at points where criticism has been leveled in particular), the point made about camaraderie and including the future uncle Owen as one of the main characters is a sound one.
Now, the garbage sequels reinforce the point that the stories need to be different, be their own thing, and this has put the prequels in a better light than ever. Even so, something seems to be lacking at times. Especially in Episode II.
That said, the prequels tell a more powerful story than the original trilogy, and the overarching whole story of Episodes 1-6 is truly spectacular.
@@KarakNornClansman Why would you make an uninteresting side character like Owen a main character? That would have been a terrible decision 😅
Waiting for The Last Jedi DvD release to start making tributes again.
Meanwhile this . I'm so tired hearing all the hate around prequels .
ROTS has always been my favorite SW movie . Which one is yours?
May the force Serve you well
DuduFilm RotJ is my fav. Empire and TLJ are next for me.
The prequels for me are basically the CW tv show plus the Darth Plagueis novel.
Can't wait to see what will you do with TLJ ;)
ROTS is a masterpiece 😍
DuduFilm My favourite is Revenge of the Sith my 2nd is The Empire Strikes Back
totally agree, they should have merged the plots of episode 1 and 2 in to one movie to set the stage of the war, had the second be midway through the war with Anakin gaining fame and falling in love; and then done the third basically as it was.
RotS is the best
The novelization of the prequels are amazing to read. The passages found in the Revenge of the Sith are truly powerful. Great video!
I am so glad there's still other prequel fans out there. Makes me feel less alone in this god damned Star Wars fandom. The haters have never shut up since the films first came out.
While the OT was more like Flash Gordon, the PT is like a Shakespearean tragedy, where it delves into the darkest aspects of this galaxy, where there is no happy ending, and is built upon the fact that, in the end, many will be betrayed and killed for corruption.
The prequels may not be perfect, but at least they told a story that was timeless
IMO there are really only two people who can truly do Star Wars justice on screen: George Lucas and Dave Filoni. I still somewhat enjoy the sequels, but to me they don't feel quite the same: they don't really feel like Star Wars, and more like fanfiction. This is not me hating on the new films, it just feels like without the vision of George Lucas behind it (or Dave Filoni, who was sort of mentored by Lucas so I would include him too) all these things just seem kind of underwhelming and a bit out of place in the franchise. The prequels are not perfect, but they managed to be unique and tell their own story, all while still feeling like part of the same universe as they were all made by the same George Lucas with the same vision for Star Wars. I enjoyed them because they went to completely new territory exploring new themes and plots, and gaving us some of the most memorable moments in the franchise, all while feeling so quintessentially Star Wars. I always thought Lucas got too much hate over the years: without him we would never even have Star Wars in the first place so it doesn't really make much sense to me.
I didn't even want an Episode 7 before it came out, because to me the story of Star Wars had already been told, and that story was the tragedy and redemption of Anakin Skywalker. That was the story Lucas wanted to tell, and to me it seemed fitting that the last movie end on that note. Now with the sequels out, it sort of takes away from the gravity of Return of the Jedi for me as we end up learning that that is not the end and that the fight of Luke and the Rebellion, as well as Vader's redemption, were all in vain.
The prequels on the other hand, had a deep sense of grandeur and profundity to them, almost like epic poetry at times, while still not detracring from the originals. They expanded the universe in ways the originals just could not, and as a result made them even richer. I also appreciate how they expanded upon Vader as a tragic character rather than a monolithic villain, thereby making his redemption even more gratifying as we see all the pain and suffering that he had to overcome. You just don't get that in the new films, despite how enjoyable they may be.
Anyway, that's my two cents. I really enjoyed the video and sorry for rambling on like that!
Couldn't agree more. Spot on.
now I really want to rewatch RotS.....
One thing I noticed growing up is most people who hated the prequels were the ones who greq up on the originals
And those who loved the prequels grew up on them
The same is happening today with the sequel trilogy
Daniel Mann I guess elitism doesn’t go away no matter how many trilogies exist.
I think this line of thought is a massive problem though because the sequel trilogy does not have the same problems as the prequel trilogy.
Aurious Yeah the sequels have way worse problems
Like forcing political messages. The prequels has political messages, heck Palpatine is the Senate. But in the prequels it fit the narrative and whenever there was a political message to be brought it would be done in a more natural way. The sequels however, they bring political messages with them that make you go: “Why?”, messages such as those of Rose “we don’t fight what we hate, but protect what we love” would be a good message, only if it fit the narrative at the time, but it didn’t and it felt so forced. My point is that politics will always be a part of the media, but they must come natural and fit the narrative. And this is but one of the many problems the sequels have
The politics of the prequels were evil exists and Republics are fragile and they only collapse on the outside after they have completely rotted on the inside. Those are universal and timeless messages that anyone of any political persuasion can agree with. The sequels push Fallopian Force Powers and "capitalism is evil."
Wonderful video, bub! One of the only good things about the ST is how much of love and appreciation the PT is now getting. Thank you, DuduFilms.... Thank you, George Lucas.
I have always loved the prequels! George Lucas made great films and his vision for star wars was great....I sometimes wonder what the people who hate the prequels see? Was it only the cgi ? Was it jar jar? Jar jar is no worse than ewoks ....I saw the emotion I saw the pain in Vader the love in Obi Wan and the cunning in the Emperor.
Thank u George
Well said. the prequels were amazing.. they did have a different tone than the originals.. but they were still awesome as well.
I love the prequels man it's what I grew up on and yeah the movies do have flaws but the story is what always makes me go back to them it's what made me love the movies and really appreciate Star Wars great job on this!
Seeing The Phantom Menace with my parents and grandparents as a four year old is what got me interested in Star Wars as a kid. Sure, I was mainly into it because of the duel of the fates, the epic John Williams score, the podracing and the starfighter dogfights, but it made me immediately want to watch Attack of the Clones and when my dad bought the 2004 DVD release of the original trilogy, I was the first one to watch them. Then when Revenge of the Sith came out, I was fully in love with Star Wars.
As I got older, I came to dismiss The Phantom Menace and certain parts of AotC, until I found the Expanded Universe (and both Clone Wars shows) and started reading those books and comics, which added a lot more context to the story. I learned the tale of Darth Plagueis the Wise, poor Darth Maul who was raised to be a patsy for his master, the Outbound Flight, Thrawn...
Then I discovered KOTOR and the Old Republic and I realized there was even more to the story than I ever would have dreamed of as a four year old watching my uncle's new DVD at my grandparents house.
Star Wars is perhaps one of the most complicated stories you could think of when you put everything together. Those who only watch the movies might think it's all "good guys vs bad guys", but there's so much more to it than that. There are Jedi who act selfishly and cruelly yet never really betray the Jedi Code, there are Sith who act heroically while still holding to their fundamental beliefs, the Republic invaded worlds during the Clone Wars and its Clone Army mercilessly gunned down any resistance (noticed that when I rewatched the Umbara arc), the Confederacy gave many planets the kind of hope that the neglectful Republic could never do, the Rebels often used terrorist tactics and many felt more safe with the Empire than with any other government.
This is why I love Star Wars.
Such a very good comment refletive indeed.
Great work! Prequel Trilogy is awesome - I remember I saw Phantom Menace on its original release inn 1999 - I was blown away by it and became a Star Wars fan after it! I don't get the critique for the movies - usually its some arrogant whining. These are beautiful movies, with beautiful story!
With all the love the Prequels have been receiving these last few years it's hard to imagine people hated them so much.
Now only at the end, do people realize the true value of the prequels.
Even with all its flaws and misgivings, the prequels are a masterpiece that should and will be remembered for generations to come.
I believe the future of Star Wars, at least in its current state, is grim, and I can only hope that Episode 9 can fix the horrendous mistake of a movie, that they call The Last Jedi.
It didn't fix The Last Jedi...
This brought me to tears, like I’m genuinely crying
Absolutely agree. I have a hard time believing that people actually can not like something about these movies. Okay, there might be a bit much CGI at the first episode. There might be sand at the second one. And the might be a meme factory at the third one. But they're just the best movies ever created. When I think of the original and prequel trilogy, I'd describe them as a tragedy of Anakin Skywalker. How it began and how it ended. The new movies have no place there.
Beautiful.
Awesome!!! I absolutely LOVE the PT! I grew up with the OT, I 4 in 1977 been a fan since the beginning. And i love the entire saga, episodes 1-6! But I prefer the PT over the OT. There's just so much more deepth to them. I find the story and characters are far more interesting and intriguing. Thank you Google for following your vision!!!
nicely put. I actually enjoy the prequels equal to the original trilogy. though I enjoy the animated series more then the live action movies
Other that Revenge of the Sith I was never a huge prequels fan but then with The Clone Wars, Rebels, Rogue One and the Darth Vader comics I've grown to love them and sympathise with the characters.
Thank you for this video!
And I 100% agree with you!
ROTS and ESB are my favourite films! :D Too hard to pick between them, but if I had to I prob would go with ROTS!
Holy shit- that's sad
Revenge of the Sith have best galaxy shattering ending and show fall of democracy and rise of empire. End of the Age as video say. TESB was important for Luke's story but had nothing galaxy wide so Revenge of the Sith is Win 4sure
@@michaelstark8720 The amazing achievements wear off with awful CGI, awful scripts and actors who weren't able to perform to the best of their abilities because of moronic writers.
@@fishboymanshark CGI was awesome, Actors were awesome and entire PT is awesome.
Revenge of the Sith is best star wars movie and entire PT is great.
Prequels are great and have everything perfectly connected
Main plots of prequels are:
Ep 1 showing how republic has fallen into corruption and scenes of politics serve as rise of Palpatine so that is good. Also it is fun to see when Jedi get stranded on Tatooine and have to play on their terms because republic money don't have worth there.
Podracers were fun and saw Tatooine from more then one angle so we saw how their society works etc... Queen believe that Republic will be there for her and then realize that she need to fight for her people alone.
Duel of the Fates. Not just sountrack but whole movie actually have that theme because evil of Siths return and duel between dark and light started.
Ep2 Since Palpatine is in office, republic is like dictatorship and Palpatine said that he won't allow that republic split into two making fertile groung for war. Separatist build their army and Palpatine and Dooku created Clone army and hide locfation of Kamino till time come when Jedi won't have option and will have to use clone army Dooku created. Jedi didn't have reason to be suspicious to Clone army too much because as Obi Wan told them, Jedi master Sifo Dyas ordered that army for republic and that army was only thing that could help them to won against separatist. Also Jedi went on Geonsis to stop Dooku and separatist alliance. Dooku ordered Tusken raiders to kidnapp Anakin's mother so that Anakin have his premonitions and knowsomething is wrong and Jedi didn't allow him to see what is wrong.Jedi are responsible for Anakin first step into darkness when he killed entire tribe of tuskens.
Ep 3 Most people think that this is great movie and only thing that they have problem with is Anakin quick turn but Palpatine worked on anakin turning since ep2 when he was put as bodyguard for Padme and having premonitions of his mother dying. Also Palpatine constantly undermined jedi infront of Anakin and Jedi never trust Anakin.
Jedi have fallen so bad that they are no different from Siths using same lines that he was too dangerous to be left alive etc... Anakin disarmed Windu not planning to kill him, bu Palpatina saw oppening and use it to kill windu. After Anakin being part of killing leading member of Jedi council, life he knew was over and he went with side that can maybe save his wife. If he didn't turn to Palpatine side, he would be killed by clones also.
Also High Ground actually have sence because Obi Wan postion himself in place from where he can react faster if anakin land on that side of lava river. Only thing Anakin could do was to go on other side and found way to obi Wan again but then he would loose momentum he build entire duel making obi wan tired. Force push wouldn't work because it would backfre lie in control room few minutes ago.
Also Palpatine probably used life force of Padme to save Vader. Dash Star have theory about that and he is right that droids cannot sense force and Jedi are fallen to hard to felt also. Those who worked on that scene said that life signals of Anakin and Padme syncronized so they both died to give life to Vader and Palpatine knew that Padme died moment she died. Dark Side was on all time high that day and Palpatine knew that Vader is in danger from Coruscant.
Prequels are actually good and even great films. And they explore more adult themes like rise of empire step by step and destruction od democracy. Also show fall of the Jedi and destruction.
PT have hundred layers and all come around for spectacular finale.
RotS perfectly portray corruption and fall of the Jedi with their plan to remove democraticly elected Palpatine from office before they even know he is sith. Also show how Jedi have fallen and are not even different from the Siths because both deals in absolutes and both looking for their own interests
Writing was excellent and film structure was excellent.
Sequence of scenes and developing story was excellent.
Acting was also excellent from everyone.
Lian Neeson as different Jedi master and rogue in his own way.
Ewan Mcgregor as young angry Obi wan who looks down on other spicies to wise master.
Ian Mcdiarmid as Palpatine was master of puppets controling everything..
Natalie Portman as young queen who fight for her people and later was senator and among first starting to talk about rebellion.
Hayden Christensen was only one on planet who could portray Anakin and he portray tortured mind individual with arrogance for more power and being overconfident perfectly.
Christopher Lee as Dooku preformed elegant diplomatic way of uniting powerful financial players trade federation, techno union, banking clan, commercs guilds, corporate alliance etc... into entity that rival republic forcing republic into war while also getting rid of his master Syfo Dias making clone army in his name using Jango as template to making sure that Sith are in both side and reform republic into empire plus destroying jedi portraying them as traitors so that no one would try to rebuild them.
Samuel L Jackson as brooding leader of Jedi Council who was suspicious of everyone fearing loosing power after Jedi becomed generals in Clone War.
Everyone was great.
Each character was well written having right reason for their actions.
Prequel trilogy is great and can stand alone unlike OT movies that never explain anything about universe or anything except that empire rule and rebels fight it.
CGI is faaaar better then in moder movies and that can be seen in bluray and flatscreen with surround sound, unique expirience
You believe that stone age teddy bears defeated strongest imperial legion like in ep VI? That was comedy. Rebels could when arrive with fleet send soldiers down and that would be realistic while what ep VI done was joke. Ep I made better fight Gungans vs Droids and gungans had chance because they had some technology. How Rebel fleet even survive against Imperial fleet that had more and better ships on their side.
And Leia being Skywalkwer was comic and put last minute so that Luke had more to fight for.
Entire OT is just comedy repeat destroying death star in IV and Vi, great villians like Boba Fett was never used unlike Jango Fett and his battle strenght vs Obi Wan plus his excellent ship.
Prequels:
Ep. 1
We saw master student relationship with Obi Wan and Qui Gon
What mean to be Jedi and their powers,
Corruption in democracy which eventually led to rise of the Siths.
Better look at Tatooine and their customs and their way of life
Qui Gon gambling.
Jedi and Sith and their prime
Arrogance of Jedi council about Sith
Queen that actually fights for her people
Podracers
The Chosen One
Duel of the Fates
Rise of Palpatine
Ep. 2
Civil war in Republic. Separatist with leader Count Dooku which is one of best characters in prequels. Palpatine started his scheme to bring close Anakin and Padme to make him that eventuale choose between Jedi and Her making him susceptible to dark side. Palpatine worked on turning Anakin from Ep II asking for him and Obi Wan to protect her knowing how Anakin feels toward Padme..
Also on note that in Ep II Anakin was creepy in his approach toward Padme is easily understood because Anakin as Jedi should never be in position to make advance toward girls because Jedi lives in celibate and he was teen who didn't know better.
Jedi is huge numbers.
Creation of Clone Army and their first battle where they had many Jedi, control over air with those gunships and Capital ships.
Ep. 3
Great space battle at beginning, great swordfight soon after.
Palpatine started to pull strings to show that jedi planning something against democracy while he worked on Anakin to show him that he need to look force from all angles if he want to be most powerful to save life of his wife. We realize that clone army was trap because they was created by Sidious and Count Dooku to create conflict and had army loyal to Palpatine/Sidious.
Killing of Jedies under cover of their rebellion against Republic
Palpatine play with Anakin emotions and leading to moment where he choose between Jedi Order that doesn't trust him and Sidious who claim that can save his wife from death.
Anakin chooses side that would I because he had no reason to be loyal to jedies because they don't trust him.
While Palpatine put Galaxy under his control in senat, Anakin started to kill potential enemies to bring peace to his new empire.
Leading to this Fight on Mustafar where Obi Wan won and didn't kill him because he still was The Chosen One and sooner or later Obi Wan knew that he would destroy Emperor.
Before mask he wasnt full on dark side which show that he cried after he killed everyone on Mustafar.
He just went on dark side to find way to save Padme from death.
After cutting Mace Windu hand he didn't have any other option anyhow.
Prequels develop cast and story in remarkable way.
Just from beginning how Sidious become Chancelor, his manipulation of senate, both side of war and Anakin and ultimatly leading to Anakin cut hand of Mace Windu to stop him to kill Sidious because Palpatine had knowledge how to save his wife.
After being part of killing Windu, Anakin choosed his side and he cannot go back so he accepted, otherwise he would be also killed by Clones and his wife would die certanly.
Great story connect prequels, and that is story of rise of Dark Side while story of OT is boring except Vader, Emperor and Luke final clash.
Obi Wan from young angry padawan grew to one of the best jedi, Anakin from Teen with long crush toward Padme and having no control of emotion because Jedi teachings that emotions don't exist to great warrior, Padme becomed senator later and among first started to talk about rebelion which can be seen in deleted scenes.
Haters like to joke about line I don't like Sand which is not bad as they make it to be because why would Anakin have any good feelings about Tatooine where he was slave.
Still he return despite all that sand to try to save his mother.
Luke's story was brilliant and I like him very much because of his point of view. He was last real Jedi after Qui Gon that followed what Force told him and not what Yoda and Obi want who told Luke that he must kill Vader. Luke went his own way and redemed his father.
Anakin story was darker and was forbidden for him to see if feelings and premonitions that he had about his mother suffering and dying making Jedi guilty for his fall in darkness.
Later when he had same premonitions about Padme, he knew that this will come to pass so he acted.
Palpatine played him from ep 2 asking for Obi Wan and Anakin to protect Padme from hitman knowing how Anakin feels toward Padme because Palpatine was only one who Anakin consider as father and he told him how he like Padme even before he saw her again in ep 2.
Palpatine when he revealed that was Sith lord told Anakin that he can save his wife from dying and when Mace was ready to kill Palpatine, Anakin disarm him, didn't mean to kill him, but Palpatine used oppening and killed Mace and after that Anakin choosed his side because he played part in killing leading member of Jedi council so life he knew was over so he went with side that had possibility to save Padme and Jedi constantly undermined Anakin not giving him recognition he deserved and was obvious that Obi Wan was jealous of Anakin power holding him back.
Also love story between Padme and Anakin wasn't bad because we can see how Padme changed toward him when they went alone on Naboo making him jealous, starting to know him better and see how he care for others. When Anakin was in pain of loosing mother and murder entire tribe of Tusken raiders, he was in real pain claiming that he will become more powerful so that can save others from death at same time he was in horrible grief because killing Tuskens although they they were monsters, tortured his mother for month and killed majority of peoples that went search for her. Padme saw that he was good but made bad choice.
Only funny part was Anakin aproach to Padme at beginning of Ep 2, but he had crush on her 10 years and Jedi don't teach about that kind of fellings so he was just teen that didn't knew playing cool.
And he was slave on Tatooine and later slave to Jedi order while Padme being Queen and later senator also having no relationship as she said that last crush was when she had 12 years. Also in extended scenes this was also mention.
So they were both kids falling in love not having prior expirience while their civilization was falling apart around them.
As Dooku said in extended editions to Padme and Anakin:
Republic cannot be saved.
Prequels gave us better story of Fall, they explained universe better and had better action scenes.
Loved the video. I also grew up with the prequels. They are great films.
The Prequels gave us great light-novels, Star Wars The Clone Wars Series and so much more...
The prequels are truly amazing I don't care what the haters say
I can't stop watching this
It even gives me an idea
I like the prequels because they show a realistic grey (unlike the sequels), it can be hard to see through the awkward script but it's there. This contrasts the original trilogy is the same way Game of Thrones contrasts the Lord of the Rings, they are two very different types of stories.
Glad to see I'm not alone, and that much of the hate is relegated to people who can't get out of their own perception that somehow the originals are literally perfect films. Anyone who argues these films have legitimate problems are fine, they do, of course they clearly do, but don't tell me these are the WORST films in all of existence. Not when studios like the Asylum pump out literal garbage films. You don't have to like these films, I don't like the sequel films and refuse to watch them, doesn't mean I'm going to go out of my way to attack you for liking them. Show me and those who like the prequels the same respect.
Love your videos man, and am glad you are a fellow prequels fan! :D
Oh and ROTS IS in my opinion the greatest Star Wars movie. But again, my opinion.
I was in High School when Prequels came out. I do enjoy them dispite the flaws.
I love the prequels for these very words.
I love Star Wars as a whole even MORE than the prequels because of the very same words.
I’ve loved the prequels since i was 5 (I’m 18 now) both clone wars shows are also masterpieces
I have such a love/hate relationship with Revenge of the Sith you don’t even know. Too me it’s the best, most epic of the Saga, while at the same time most saddening to see most of the lore die in my face, but for the connection to the Original Trilogy, it makes plenty of sense.
I love prequels. I love Star wars. when I was a kid, my first book was star wars. then i began to interest in the Star Wars galaxy. Also I watched 4, 5 and 6 episodes. I cant understand people who says that prequels are boring and those who hate them. Prequels are the best part and also interesting part in the SW galaxy.
Disney7 and 8 episode are shit!!! Boring and silly heroes.
Do you think we are becoming the haters of the sequel trilogy the same way the originals hated the prequels
.. and in 7 years the new of Star wars Fans will understand the sequel better than we and will defend it like we defend the prequels?
@Will DeMarco Same here
@@nicoll6138 I don't think so, the prequels were never bad in the first place. when you look at story conherence, character consistency and worldbuilding the prequels is nailing it in comparison to the ST. It is just a shame that due to the movie's runtime plotpoints are underdeveloped here and there, which is why the PT is in need of an extended edition. The OT fanboys who are bashing the prequels are often biased or using incorrect information, which is sad because the PT had a lot of good shit to offer, but it never goes so far that it invalide the universe or past achievements unlike the ST.
@@nicoll6138 I don't think so, the sequels lack one important thing that the prequels did have which is a vision and a cohesive story. It felt like a trilogy. My biggest problem with sequels is the lack of planning. It doesn't feel like a trilogy.
Yeah the new trilogy is just crap
This voiceover and this song give me chills everytime, a real tearjerker. ♥
wow this was amazing, videos like this are why this is one of my favourite RUclips channels
I feel so sad for Geogre Luvas for all the hate, because of the prequels, he got. He must think the fans have betrayed him.
I must say amazing as always, Your videos are excellent. Keep it up!
Great use of Hans Zimmers Masterpiece!
Its... beautiful...
Breath taking and visually brilliant... Beautiful as always.
It's 2020 and i still watch every video you have made. They are incredible.
Where is that amazing narration from? Also great job as always
I cried
ROTS novelization by Matthew Stover
Impressive I must say this just might be my favorite of all your videos
Labyrinth of Evil or RotS book
The Revenge of the Sith novelization by Matthew Stover. It is definitely the best book I have ever read.
You should do one on the Introduction section right after this part of the RoTS novelization. The Age of Heroes.
Without the prequels, how can we know what the Republic looked like leading up to its fall visually?
Its stuff like this that really make it worth to be subscribed to you. Honestly another great video.
You never fail to impress Dudu, keep up the beautiful content
Fantastic video, the narration and the music are very emotional.
I came. I saw. I loved them:
- Unique story about the fall of democracy and heroes.
- The bad guys win (for once in a mainstream franchise).
- Some of the best scores and art design in film history.
- Some of the most quotable nerd lines ever
QED
The prequels have many flaws but ultimately I am glad they exist because despite their flaws there was a truly magnificent story hidden in the depts. It just needed the right person to take many of great idead Lucas had an expound upon them and to remove the many bad ideas and inconsistencies in the prequels. Which is why I believe so much good material was born from the prequels such as Darth Plaguis, ROTS novelisation, the Clone War Comics and more. Overall I prefer a Star Wars with the prequels than without.
Thank you, it was so artistically done...
The PT are flawless!!! Movie making at its best!!! Why do people pick on the PT and not the OT? They are far from perfect. Lucas did the PT much better. I for one am sick of the bashing and how people have to throw in something negative, like they have these so called flaws. An example for the OT, Luke learns from Obi-Wan for a few hours and Yoda a couple of days and wham he's a Jedi master!!! Don't even get me going on this horrible Disney and Kennedy bullshit especially the ST!!!! But people are fine with Lukes training but the Gods forbid that someone from a sand planet mentions he doesn't like sand it's a huge deal and ruins the story!!! That said I love the real Saga episodes 1-6 but I'm not blind to the issues in the OT. I don't find any issues with the PT. unlike the OT Lucas had to change and put things in different order to tell his story. With the PT he could tell the story he wanted to because he didn't have to compromise.
Amen! GEORGE LUCAS MADE MY CHILDHOOD!
Prequels > Sequels. I like the sequels but the prequels are better in everyway, they have heart and imagination along with deep storytelling, Lucas deserves the love for bringing us to a Galaxy far far away.
You can hate the prequel movies all you want but they made star wars what it is today and it became far better because of it. You don't have to enjoy the prequels to understand that. Personally I like the prequels as well. Sure it has it's flaws but it also has it's charm. The prequels were what made me fall in love with star wars when I was really young. I didn't really enjoy the og trilogy back then. I do enjoy it now.
Late to the party, but I'm glad I found this video. I'm glad to see there is a whole community that also enjoys the prequels as much as I do. Whilst I still enjoy the orginals, when I think of Star Wars, I think of the Jedi fighting to preserve a crumbling and decadent system, losing their ideals and morals fighting in a proxy war, whilst the true threat to their way of life is the head of state of the very system they are dying for in order to keep afloat. This whole era to me feels more nuanced, with not that many clear "heroes" or "villains", just people, fighting to survive day to day in a galaxy tearing itself apart. Or at least that's the thought process of someone rambling along in the comments. Either way, thanks for making this :)
Thank you for this Dudu!
Without the Prequels, We Clones wouldn't exist.
“The End starts now”
And I love this tribute.
Meanwhile people continue to hate in the comments section, everyone has their own opinions but regardless this was a marvelous video.
The only prequel I can't really stomach is Phantom Menace, but that's mainly because of Jar Jar. Even that movie has some amazing redeeming features, mainly the characters of Qui Gon and Darth Maul.
this like was deserved, great job
The Revenge of the Sith novelization is hands down the best Star Wars book out there.
When prequels came out I thought they suck.Boy was I wrong......
They are great compared to the Last Jedi....
This is really beautiful.
Revisiting this video after the last season of Clone Wars is gonna sting.
Absolutely perfect :)
Nice Soundtrack: Hans Zimmer Time
TPM shows why Anakin is so important, his strong attachment to his mom, why Obi-Wan wasn't right teacher to him, why he hates Tatooine, Jedi rules, Palpatine becoming chancellor, world building, etc...And of course, podracing and Darth Maul.
AOTC actually tells a story (Palpatine's rise to power by manipulation Republic and Separatists, Anakin's progression of falling to the Dark Side, start of the Clone Wars), develops characters, shows us real war, new planets, species, ships, droids, world, and has connection with 1 and 3.
What ROTS show us? The largest battle in the Clone Wars, deaths of Dooku and Grievous, Kashyyk battle, Anakin's conflict with Jedi and himself, his weakness (save who he loves), which perfectly works with saving Luke, Palpatine's manipulation and rise to power, Order 66, 2 amasing final battles and the creation of Darth Vader and Empire, birth of Luke and Leia, new hope. It is meaning for the whole Galaxy and is the most emotional.
What I find very interesting is the fact that, when you take Anakin out of picture, the republic would probably still have fallen because of all the contradictions and corruption. So the republic was doomed from the very beginning. On the other hand however, Anakin, since he came from the outside, was able to see all of this, which also perpetuated his fall to the dark side. If he had a proper father figure as a teacher like Qui Gon, then maybe in the final moments, he would not have become Darth Vader but instead would have become the hero, he was meant to be, who saves the republic from its fall.
I’ll never deny the prequels are flawed, as is every movie. However, I believe it also allowed for an even more beautiful narrative to be told, across countless stories from games to novels. It’s complexity and unique approach to storytelling allowed for other works to be created, supplementing it and improving upon it. This is the beauty of Star Wars. Yes, the movies and adventures are fun. But you come to appreciate it only when you take it one step deeper. Only after reading the comics and novels, playing the games and watching the movies do you finally understand how masterfully crafted the Star Wars Universe is. Some would say Marvel or DC come close or even surpass it, but I disagree. Unlike them, Star Wars kept a mostly stable continuity that created an entire galaxy with the complexity of the LOTR, and the tragedies of Macbeth and other Shakespearean works.
There is nothing like it. There may never again be anything like it.
Stover
Amen
You should do a Star Wars Rebels tribute since the series finale aired.
amazing !
In my POV The OT is fairy tail, bit brutal (u know limbs go off and etc), but still mostly black and white, while Prequels and STCW represent thousand and thousand shades of grey spread across whole galaxy. Sequels go back to being black and white with bonus of sudden color-changing, making fun of any SW material before etc. etc., all that mixed with Rey, who developed power of Thanos's Snap in split second of said snap...
@DuduFilm what do you think about the sequels? What is your opinion on the sequels?
The prequels ARE. The underlying themes and the narrative of the saga as a whole are are made stronger thanks to palpatine's rise. Clunky dialogue, fake accents and bad acting are present as far back as the original film.
Love this
This is still amazing
Amazing
Thank You it was perfect. :)
