I was brought up in a very abusive household. I was diagnosed with bpd at 13 I’m now 24 my current therapist opinion is that I now suffer with complex ptsd. I really struggle to regulate my emotions in particular I struggle to get upset and think about the things that are traumatic for me. It’s like it’s gone out my memory. But this song really triggers my emotions and brings up a lot of deep saddening feelings. This song really is amazing. My mum never left my dad after he was psychically and emotionally abusive to her and to me and to my other siblings.. I really relate to this song

I had an alcoholic mother that ironically made my life so much better. There is a saying "People didn't learn to build high walls from their friends, but from their enemies." My mother taught me how to do everything right by her doing everything wrong as a parent. I learned compassion through her malice.
The funny thing is she probably doesn't even realize how wrong she was. I can't imagine how people become alcoholics after living with a parent like my mother.

I have been listening to EDM since the early 80's breakbeat. I have seen it evolve in so many ways. In all my time with music, there are rare few songs that really hit me in my core. This is one of those songs. I grew up in a broken home and music was my escape. I'm glad to see that music was an escape for others too. Love this song with all my heart .

I don't understand why people hate the music video or are offended by it? This is something that happens to real people. We don't even know how many people go through this and just don't report it. Most of the time both men AND women are too embarrassed or ashamed to talk about it.

uh.. how did she get molested? they showed one part where the parents were being intimate and another part where the dad drinks and abuses his wife while the kid drowns it out w music. and everyone pretends like it's normal and just lives with it. my dad didn't show love to my mom as much as this guy in the video did but he definitely abused her just as much. probably more. i just know what it feels like to have an awful dad, a drunkard, abusive, horrible dad that deserves to rot in jail but he's so lucky he got married to my mom who is too nice. just like in the vid he abused the woman, but she still took him back. so yeah , it relates to me a LOT. you should probably watch the video again because i don't think you understood what's going on.

Hoping on it soon tho, just today we called the police on him because he was drunk and verbally abusive to us and I've convinced my mom to get a divorce. Some scary shit, I was the one to call the police but I had to cause I'm so tired of what he's turned our life into. Abusive people should be gotten rid of as soon as the abuse happens, I hope no one lives 20 years of their life with their abuser like my
Mom did. she should have gotten rid of him a long ass time ago, but hopefully since I'm older now I can give her the strength and courage and we will finally do it. I'm terrified of what the future holds for me though, fuck.
Preeti K OK, are you alone now? You should get some support; if you are old enough to move, please do with your Mother. Seek refuge through contacting the police and telling them your situation. You may get a lawyer and sue your Father, if that's what you want. It can get him maybe 10 or more years in prison, and he'll be kept away from you and your Mother for the rest of his life.
we have a plan similar to that, but things like this take time. my mom has to make an appointment w a laywer, pay him too, and she can't do that until next week because she works. the police didn't do anything today because it was only emotional and verbal abuse, not physical. and apparently saying he abused us in the past and we're scared he might again doesn't help them. he's been arrested for it before, like 3 years ago. police weren't able to take any action against him tho. anyway once we get the divorce we'd prob have to move house and my mom might have to change her job. it's so much hassle to just get rid of one person.
anyway thank you for the advice and even caring enough to reply back. it means a lot. i hope you never have to deal with abuse, ever.

This isn't about men vs women. It's about bullies vs victims. To nowt see that is to fall into the same trap that can often create these problems. Division isolates us, and makes things like this possible. Unity makes it easier for us to keep an eye on one another, to help keep each other safe.
