    Kingsley North is a lapidary store in Michigan's U.P. They make a great cab machine and sell many other brands too. They have a huge selection rough rock, tumblers, grit, jewelry supplies etc. at good prices. I buy most of my coarse grit from here in 45 lb. bags. It's the best price I have found. If you buy using the following link, I make a small commission.

      I was out for eight and a half hours that day. Most people would only like the first hour or two. I wasn't tired of the beach after that long, I was just worried that I was going to miss dinner and make my wife mad. No problem, I made it back on time.

Plus I'm a rock/mineral lover so this is the perfect combo. I've never had the chance to visit USA unfortunately, but I wish I could be there, seeing those places, walking those shores and collecting pudding stones and Petoskey stones. Even just for once...

      @@MichiganRocks North Eastern Lower Peninsula of Michigan. Well that eliminates the western side of the bridge, but it could be from the eastern side of the Mackinaw Bridge to Alpena. or even as far south as Tawas City. But then of course it would be any wheres north of Detroit if you were starting there.
      Any hint as to exactly where your hunting rocks? Do you have a rock shop? if so where?

      I'm sorry I missed this message. It went into my RUclips spam folder, which doesn't show up on my iPad. I just saw it here on my computer. I don't have a rock shop. This is the only place I haven't given a location for because it's not near any public beaches. I have permission from landowners in the area. I don't want to tell the whole internet where it is and then have people trespassing to get there. Puddingstones should be able to be found in any of the places you mentioned. They're more abundant the closer you get to Drummond Island. There's a northern limit to Petoskey stones though. I'm not sure what it is, but they do not occur as far north as Mackinaw City. I think Harbor Springs is about the northern limit on Lake Michigan. There are some good Facebook groups that occasional give information about good beaches to hunt.

      I throw those rocks with holes back all the time with no consequences whatsoever. I think they're fun to look at on the beach, but I don't have any use for them later, so I don't bring them home. I'm also a Christian and don't believe in magical powers of rocks. Please don't bring that stuff to my channel. Sorry for the rant, but I have pretty strong feelings about that stuff.

    There's a HUGE pudding stone on M-32 in front of the church in Big Rock west of Atlanta Michigan. The rock is as big as compact car.

    • @MichiganRocks

      It's not quite that big, but it is a really nice rock. Do you think Big Rock was named after _that_ rock? I'm not sure it's quite good enough to worship though.

    I'm going to be obsessed with this channel now. Have to watch all the videos, just great 😂. Honestly that looks so amazing just kayaking in that tranquil water alone. So surreal. I'll have to take a trip up that way this summer for some kayaking and rock hunting. Do you do kayak tours? Alot of ppl, myself included would pay good money for that.

    • @MichiganRocks
      @MichiganRocks  Год назад

      No, I don't guide kayak tours or rock hunts. You really don't need me for either of those things. Just find a public beach access and go for it. The problem with kayaking is that you need pretty calm water to do it. Since I live near Lake Huron, I can just keep an eye on the weather and go when it's calm. That's harder to do if you're planning a vacation around it. If you can make a quick day trip, it's not so bad.
      I fully support being obsessed with my channel, by the way.

      I’m glad you liked it. Most of my editing time is spent trying to make the horizon lines horizontal. I’m not very good at holding the camera straight at all. marynadononeill maybe someday I’ll get a gimbal. They’re pretty expensive, so that will have to wait a bit. They do look interesting. I don’t think they can get wet, so that’s a downside for beach photography. I’m using a GoPro just because I can get it wet, or even go under water with it.
