Ugh so here's the thing, I had an ex who was accused several times to have taken advantage of drunk women. I left him over this (and because of the emotional and physical abuse) and he became obsessed. He had gotten a pretty large following on RUclips and social media from men who also used that line "this is every guys WORST nightmare." 😒 This is why this movie hits me so hard. I’m saying this as a girl. A woman can literally accuse a man of rape, and he’s done for. I’m not saying he didn’t do it, but it’s a valid fear. I can link down videos that show how a woman can accuse a man, and she gets a slap on the wrist. I mean, it is a mans worst nightmare. Rightfully so. To sit in jail for something you didn’t do, only to figure out the accuser never faced harsh consequences. If he did truly do this, then obviously he’s in the wrong.
@@desireed1708 I only stated my opinion. Because frankly, no one seems to be talking about these kind of things. If feminists so badly want equality, they need to be talking about this sort of shit too.

@@darlingemi I get it that opinion. I should've added in my post that 3 of the girls that claimed my ex took advantage of had almost the exact same details but had never met. Just clearing it up that each of the girls had a valid reason to accuse him. Anyway, keep being safe! Best wishes! ✨

This film kicked some serious ass, both literally and figuratively. This movie is so good, it almost makes me angry since every little detail is so meticulously crafted and it basically says what we’re all thinking, but choose not to say.... because it reminds us all of how some of us are either a victim, an assailant, or a bystander. It reminds us that there is zero shame, or weakness, when it comes to standing up for people who have been abused, oppressed, or manipulated in any kind of way... the fact that this subject matter is still as relevant to this day just goes to show how far behind we are when it comes to real, actual social justice in this country. I’m not saying we should all do what Mulligan’s character did, mainly because most of us do not* have the willpower], but if the movie isn’t enough to bring awareness, then I don’t know what it is. I am glad it one the Best Original Screenplay Oscar in 2021, because every single scene, line, word, and scene direction was the reason why it got nominated... Edit: I myself became acutely aware of five examples of sexual assault [one of which happened to a family member fifty years before I was even born]: December 2012, a drunk pedestrian grabs one of my female friend's asscheeks while walking, August 2010, one of my female classmates in high school was groped by a male student who barely knew her and vice versa, January 2007, one of my grade school instructors was chased at a playground, by a drunk vagrant, with a sharp object in his hand [she was pregnant at nine months], October 2002, a young woman was being grabbed from behind by this older man before hitting him in the groin with her elbow and running to a police officer who was patrolling the shopping center they were all in.... finally, December 1939, one of my great aunts who pulled away in a dark alley after walking on the sidewalk [in downtown the Bronx], then held at gunpoint, had her underwear and skirt stripped off and raped for a full minute before the man ran off in the street and would be identified by police as a coworker of hers who quit his job after being accused of assault by one female worker. 4/5
Seems like a great movie but I just can't get over the fact that this movie directed by the same woman who played Camilla on the Crown. What a talented woman !!!!

How tho? ones about a pedophile/ pedo hunter and this ones about a girl who gets revenge on a rapist. I don’t see how people are comparing the two when there’s not a single thing to link the two movies in any similar way. if anything it’s more similar to movies like Last house on the left, I spit on your grave, revenge.
Lol last house on the left? No freaking way🤣🤣🤣 i can see I spit on your grave too but only cause of seeking revenge. As far as I can tell through this trailer she's seeking revenge for a friend not for anything done to her. But i haven't seen this yet...could be wrong 😏
yuup99 castration isn’t a concept, and last house on the left is the og revenge movie so your qualms with it aren’t understood by me. Regardless there’s no connection between any of the themes of either movie
I just watched it and came straight here for the same haha. This movie destroyed me, it has been a while since I felt sucker punched from a movie. I loved it but it was rough rough rough.
All of yall men wining about the "worst fears" quote literally can you name one man who's life was actually ruined by a false accusation? Can you? Just one?
Okay I think the movie is pretty good cuz shit like this happens a lot but yes. Men's lives do get ruined by false accusations and its not hard to find. Seriously.
Daniel Hubbard, Thomas Kennedy, Darin Thomas, Shawn Oakman, and Brian Banks. This happened to many people not just men but women too when you look at cases like Nora Wall, it is very important to listen to the victims story respectfully yes and when real cases of rape do happen, as they sadly do too often, that’s something that needs to be handled with the utmost care. However, do not even think for a second that the stories of both men and women who are falsely accused of rape and sexual assault do not matter when you undermine that you are doing the very thing you are fighting against. Do not discredit their stories
I would have worded it differently, because I dont think most of us actually KNOW someone who had their life ruined be false accusations, but I seriously doubt anyone out there doesnt know SEVERAL women who has had their life ruined by sexual assault. Not as in others know, but THEY know that they will never get to be the person they were meant to become, the person who wasnt messed up emotionally by it. If you dont know someone like that, you are simply not a person anyone feels they can truly confide in, about issues like this...
I think eventually it will go down as one of the greatest movies of all time. I can’t say it’s the greatest, but I’m glad you liked it. It seems that it’s nearly impossible to find people who like it.
i don’t understand how this has any parallels to harley quinn. can we please stop constantly making that comparison with every female character we’re presented with?

The trailer is misleading in several different ways. The people, who are not professional critics, are pretty disappointed about that movie. And those are people, who are partly "Effinists" or at least neutral towards that toxic ideology. I wrote more about it elsewhere in this thread with relative mild spoilers. This movie will crash and burn. As an anti-Effinist I'm pretty glad about that.
Of all the leads bent on revenge in modern revenge thrillers, Carey Mulligan is by far the most realistically portrayed. Most actors just put on a mopey face all the time. Mulligan plays the pain at different levels, sometimes she even forgets it in brief moments of normalcy. This strikes me as more realistic. Even severely traumatized people have a lot of variance in their moment to moment demeanor.
i got an ad for this and i wont lie the only reason i kept watching the ad was to make sure i ACTUALLY saw bo burnham and not only did i confirm its him but man i dont regret it this film looks like its gonna be amazing

This is literally a completely different situation, no pedophiles, and no vigilante teen who kills pedophiles, also it had a heavy emphasis on the dangers of meeting strangers online. This is a revenge movie, like last house on the left or something like that.
Cricketplays 96 exactly. I mean I guess if you want to just make a sort of “vengefulness” broad category, like drama...? I’m more chalking it up to not putting any actual thought behind just hopping on someone else’s bandwagon they saw saying that.

Carrie Mulligan will be hard-pressed to deliver a better performance than she did in this film and while she was nominated for one IMHO she deserved the Oscar Award for her work in this film. I could not recommend this film enough.

Ugh so here's the thing, I had an ex who was accused several times to have taken advantage of drunk women.
I left him over this (and because of the emotional and physical abuse) and he became obsessed.
He had gotten a pretty large following on RUclips and social media from men who also used that line "this is every guys WORST nightmare." 😒
This is why this movie hits me so hard. It truly seems like potentially holding a mirror to those who have no regard for listening to the victims.
Yes it's been done before, but this already *feels* different.
I'm a little nervous of being triggered, but I am so excited to watch this! 😊😊
@@darlingemi it’s a valid fear but brining up when women talk about there stories... I don’t think every man accused should immediately go to prison but there needs to be better investigations and accusations need to be taken more seriously. There an extremely low statistic of fake rape accusations and it’s not fair to classify ever women as a liar when they come out based off of this.
@@darlingemi I get it that opinion. I should've added in my post that 3 of the girls that claimed my ex took advantage of had almost the exact same details but had never met.
Trigger warning: he got them plastered drunk, acted friendly until they were blacked out, then they woke up somewhere else.
Just clearing it up that each of the girls had a valid reason to accuse him.
Anyway, keep being safe! Best wishes! ✨
Glad you dumped him, yet Its sad that so many innocent men are accused on social media of atrocities and have their lives ruined because some vengeful petty liar like Burntwitch (the gamergate instigator) got dumped by an ex, then doubles down when he can actually prove her accusations false, she claims permanent victimhood and made a career out of it. She just recently made a man SHE was pursuing another victim, he lost his own gaming company over her fake accusations and he killed himself, and she laughed about it on Twitter. I think this character was based on her, except she was never harassed except by trolls calling her out on her lies

👹😈👺
4/5

All of yall men wining about the "worst fears" quote literally can you name one man who's life was actually ruined by a false accusation? Can you? Just one?
@@youraveragemusicart1491 yes but that was in the public eye I think they are more so referring to the average man
Okay I think the movie is pretty good cuz shit like this happens a lot but yes.
