there is a documentary called "the hunting ground", released a few years ago, which is about various American colleges covering up rapes happening on their campuses. and they all say the same thing, the same words: "we take these accusations VERY SERIOUSLY" except they almost invariably protect the perpetrators, and the victims pretty much never get any justice, instead they are libeled as liars and attention-seeking. It makes me so furious. Usually the people in charge do nothing because they don't want their college to be linked to a rape case in the press, because then nobody would apply to study there. Or they don't want to loose tenure, or their job. And that makes them part of the problem! I mean, as a woman I'd much rather study in a university where I know I'd be protected and have support in the events that I am assaulted than in one where there have been many cases of rape but the uni tries to conceal it and doesn't take any action against the perpetrator and instead protects them! sorry for the long paragraph, I think you are right, and I also loved the movie

The depressing thing is that EVERY adult woman I know has experienced the oppression so eloquently outlined in this film and that you can’t win against a system rigged against women. Heaven forbid the man/guy/boy be removed their opportunity of promise while women are left with the tatters of these experiences.
"I guess it feels different when it's someone you love." That line shook me to my core, I am so looking forward to watching this full movie. Such powerful messages about consent and societal constructs.
This is incredibly true. No one cares about the experiences that a random girl will go through. “She was drinking with a bunch of guy friends. She put herself through that.” But god forbid it happens to their daughters... it’s different..
I just noticed that her real name is Cassandra, which may be a reference to the prophet from Greek mythology and her plight (after being cursed by Apollo and then brutally raped by Ajax). Specially during the scene in which Dean Walker admits to Cassie that she's right. Also, Nina might refer to "niña" ("girl" in Spanish), alluding to the fact that the character could represent every girl that has been through such trauma.
In this scene I like how Cassie punishes the dean not by putting her daughter in the same place that Nina was in but by showing the dean that if she did care about Nina's case than she would have remembered the dorm and called security to the room
I also find it telling that a woman is screaming for her daughter and the people on the other side of the door don’t bother to intervene, to see what’s going on. It’s not their business
“Toxic” was a perfect fit for the movie. Their cheeky use of the song is brilliant and very well thought out, in that Britney’s career was built on the exploiting and sexualization of her “virgin” image. Another great example of a young woman’s innocence being taken away and society turning a blind eye to it.

A woman is never seen as having a promising future, or even if she is, her promising future is always ready to be sacrificed for the future of a mediocre man.
This movie is so well written. The scene with Dean Walker is absolutely amazing! The way she turns things around on her once it’s about the daughter, is masterfully written!
Brilliant! Felt good to watch a woman get revenge. So many of us women have experienced abuse like this but never got to punish the guy who abused us. Never got listened to. Never had proof. Incredible movie, with many layers, and risky (unpopular) subject and approach. I challenge you to think & listen deeper, beyond the knee-jerk reaction.
I was sexually harassed at work and I went to a “Dean Walker”. Both of my direct bosses were male so I didn’t go to them. I went one level up and she was a woman. I was so sure that she would understand but I got the same kind of response. “What would you have me do?” “I have to give him the benefit of the doubt.” I was working at a law firm no less. Before I finally spoke up, I held it in for a month or so. That month I was emotionally fucked. It wasn’t anywhere close to R-word serious at all. But to have my agency taken away, to think that someone I see every day at work saw me as a piece of meat and thought it was okay to touch me without consent. I knew how it would end. I knew he would get away with it. The fact that they saw me broke down and thought what exactly? I would fabricate something like this about someone that I would want absolutely nothing to do with. But “I have to give him the benefit of the doubt”. I didn’t care because I did the right thing. I gave them a chance to do the right thing but they didn’t. I guess he is, in a way, a promising young man. A young man on his way to becoming a lawyer. Being a fucking creep is just forgivable personal quirk. I dread to think that I’m not the only one harassed by him. The movie is so right that there’s no justice for this kind of thing. Whatever the victim does, the odds are stacked against them. I remember my mom saying not everyone is like this, they are in the minority. I wish that was true.
The hard thing is not being believed, and also how even in court not everyone is believed. The justice system, the school system, it's all very flawed. It often feels like we are marginalized, because we're just girls. It also makes me sad that trans women of color are having the same problems. I'm constantly trying to help people feel listened to. Believed and more.
People do need to get the benefit of the doubt. Because there are a few who would make false statements. But there’s a difference between doing that and just sweeping claims under the rug.
The point is to distribute the benefit of the doubt EQUALLY. When people show disproportionate doubt towards the acuser rather than just being neutral during the investigation, then you risk falsely accusing the acuser of a false accusation, which is also a crime.
@@mount_fuji_edits i think the same. The topic is very controversial and the lead role is very flawed. And that ending Gosh! I dont like it that much but when a man says YOUR MOM! Thats where it gets way worse.
I am over seeing stills like this. Saltburn is about me. And the truth is, Fennell doesn't actually know me. She has a bit that works. And I'm not saying her work isn't good. I'm just saying she has a bit, and a gold statue as a reward. Congratulations, winner.

Carey mulligan este Oscar precisa ser seu, que atuação espetacular e essa cena do escritório é um estouro.
Best film of the year
Such an incredible movie...so glad Hollywood put this out there. Very eye opening
Walker is the real villan of the movie than those guys
"The benefit of doubt" ha
Incredible script and film. In the vein of Hugo’s “The Count of Monte Cristo”. A great revenge film par excellence.
This movie is fantastic!!!

She did amazing in the film. Oscar worthy
Fantastic film so thought provoking
Goingbthru that. Aveanna did not have my back, I’ve lost job from being the victim and because I cried.
That Oscar must be for Carey!
This movie is brilliant!
Fucking LOVE THIS!!! Savage!!
Wish more people saw this movie. I needs to be seen.
Sorry but this movie doesn't deserve an Oscar... it deserves at least 2 or 3.... lol
Brilliant! I am looking forward to seeing this film. I see potential for several noms here.
Carey Mulligan was robbed of the Oscar.
Don’t dare to not nominate Carey !
Well she did dare to star in such a horrible script 😁

Where is oscar for Carey?
nine dislikes came from dudes, for sure.

@Riff Wizard 666 any man who includes “your mom” in his replies is a stupid man😂sorry to offend yoı but it is what you are
Um not hating the topic, obviously this movie is very controversial, but artistacally it does not deserve 5 Oscars Nominations
@@mount_fuji_edits i think the same. The topic is very controversial and the lead role is very flawed. And that ending Gosh! I dont like it that much but when a man says YOUR MOM! Thats where it gets way worse.
From 'nice guys' 😂
Wow. I'm happy the director/writer wanted to remind young people that anyone can be a predator. Be smart out there, guys.
Oh muh gawd! Just realized Connie Tate is not Lori Loughlin...which means it wasn't aunt Becky in West Wing!
Release that fucking movie internationally RIGHT NOW for fucks sake. Why is this taking ages?
Can someone please explain the green color in production design?
I didn't understand. 14:04
they mentioned the dark green was one of several "masculine" design elements, which also echoed the design of the log cabin
I am over seeing stills like this. Saltburn is about me. And the truth is, Fennell doesn't actually know me. She has a bit that works. And I'm not saying her work isn't good. I'm just saying she has a bit, and a gold statue as a reward. Congratulations, winner.
ok this looks great
Why post all of these comments about Kathleen Kennedy HERE????
Because the Oscars thought it was honorable to disable comments on Kathleen Kennedy's video. So they post here.
She herself had to pay for the method of her madness with her death.
No need for foul language Robbie
