On a flight just happen to put on " The Eyes of Tammy Faye".I remembered see PTL running In my Grandma's home 24/7.And was always even as a kid intrigued with Tammy Faye. I was never a really religious person but after seeing the movie I truly understand what selfless Love is. Tammy Faye was brought back in such a way. We all fall , make mistakes, we all must dust ourselves off & get back to a place in our own hearts to not pass judgement, but to care for others unconditionally ALWAYS.

Great movie. Did Tammy well. I truly believe she wasn't as involved in it all as Jim was. She later came back and had her own preaching....she was good hearted deep down inside. Jim wronged her too.
I too watched them years ago with my mother and then as a mother myself. Ive been pulling up videos and watching them both. Such a shame. They were both loved so well by people...pray that their 2 kids are all right. I know they both have ministries. Jim & Tammy did bring them up in church......
      God bless them.
      RIP Tammy.

Tammy Faye was really worn and tired from all the treatments and said she was done. She did well, but a few years later the cancer was back. It had metastisized to her lungs. She died of lung cancer, secondary to colon cancer. I saw her interviewed when she was going through the lung cancer situation and her advice was to take every last treatment the doctors recommend and not to refuse anything. I have a much different story. I loved the PTL Club, and Heritage USA was an extraordinary place. My friends and I would drive there every weekend to go rollerskating. Sometimes we would just play a game or two of basketball. The people were so nice and the shopping mall was a remarkable site to see ... especially the virtual sky ceiling.
My mother wrote to PTL requesting a bible. Not only did they mail her a free bible, but they sent at least three more over a period of months. Then they started sending albums, records, cassette tapes, bumper stickers, and bible literature. I could hardly believe they were sending all of these things for free!
I really miss that place and its amphitheater. I loved watching their TV show and frequently visiting Heritage USA. I was a proud member of the PTL Club. It was short-lived, but I will never forget those wonderful years when I was a teenager.

We watched a number of religious programs and when all of this broke loose, it truly was sad. Jimmy loveboat Its not about throwing stones, they were stealing for years and would have continued to do so, but they were caught. There's a huge difference when you "accidentally " do wrong, but to do something "knowingly" then hide it and keep doing the same wrong thing over and over. Especially when you are suppose to be a moral upstanding representatives of the church, then there's a big problem there.

Jim Bakker served 5 years in prison for overbooking the hotel at heritage usa even though they never turned a guest away. On july 22, 1996 a federal judge ruled that the charges were bogus and never should have been brought against him and all charges were dropped. It was a witch hunt.

I was never a fan of PTL. At its peak, I thought it was it was schmaltzy and pandering at best. I steered clear of it.
But give it a break, people. It was thirty years ago. He went to jail. They lost their ministry, their reputation, their marriage, and their income for years afterward. She died a terrible, painful death.
They ultimately got lost and started believing their own hype. Most of us will never know the pressure and temptation Jim and Tammy faced.
So now it's done. They sowed and they reaped. Just let it go and be glad it wasn't you.

What exactly is funny about this?

    • @FuckThatYo
      @FuckThatYo 8 лет назад +14

Any comedy of lies, always contains a few gems of laughable 'knowledge'.
Just check out Jimmy's new blood-sucking, freeze-dried, festival of fraudulent fallacies. From the inedible emergency food buckets, to the emergency essentials, such as solar generators, LED emergency lighting, total filtration water bottles, to the Holy-Grail of personal security in the end times... A cabin, 'dome-home', or modern condominium apartment at Morningside, (surely, God will spare a community of this fraudster, and his followers from his vengeful wrath of fury, in response to humanity's umpteenth betrayal... Right?) Jim and Lori's much more modest version of 'Heritage USA'. The once-mammoth ministry/theme park, proudly stood as likely the ultimate example of just how much money there is to be made in taking the last of little old ladies' pension cheques, (you didn't really need that, did you, Edna?) and proudly stood testament to just how wealthy one can become, when he chooses to ignore The Bible, by giving-in to the many temptations which exist when one decides to 'preach the gospel of profit'.
In fact, if it's a few laughs you're looking for, 'The Jim Bakker Show' always delivers! Jim's catchy gut-busting, stylized statements, such as, 'We are in the Third World War... It's a different war than you've known before...', are as hilarious, as they are a stellar example of rhyming stupidity at it's finest.
And, who can keep a straight face when Jim's hardline, take-no-bs, overweight sidekick, Zack Drew, sporting his pimpin' four-carat diamond stud earrings, constantly pitches Jim's Junk, or reveals in his most threatening tone, his slightly wacko philosophy, stating that Heaven is actually two-billion light years away (we were 'getting too close to the Heaven in the clouds, so God sought out a more remote location'... Really now?) in deep, deep space, and a door-to-door Heaven-Earth commute takes around two-million years... Even at 'Angel-speed'?
Finally, let's not forget Jim's main-squeeze, whom he plucked from the proverbial cradle... Formally known as the 'Slut of the Skipped Sacrifice'... It's the loveable 'Angel of Abortion' herself, (she had four terminations, before being 'born-again'... why did she get to have two births, while four of her babies didn't even get to have one??? ) Lori 'gold-digger' Baaaaaaaaaaaaaakker!!! Her nasally attempts at giving her two cents, evenly peppered with random 'WOW!s', and 'I love that's', seem too annoy Jim to no end, which is likely the reason he rarely lets his much-younger wife get a word in sideways.
'Ulster1690', I agree that there is nothing funny about con-artists, who have the audacity to basically steal money from society's most vunerable members...
However, I viamentally disagree with you when it comes to your level of disbelief, at the fact that anyone would find a video of these two con-artists, fully-exposed, and finally eating a most-deserved meal of crow, amusing?
That is... If one can get over their anger from witnessing these two bottom-feeders still refusing to accept any blame, or responsibility for their actions.
Yes, Jim... It was all a big plan, wasn't it? You condo-sellin', underage-molestin' snake.

I feel and know that they were judged very very harshly - they admitted that PTL grew larger and larger and they became engulfed in the enormity of it. I don't think Jerry Falwell was very nice or made any kind of magnanimous gesture towards them - under the guise of "helping" them he stabbed them in the back. Tammy was kind to people and ministered to others and always gave an encouraging word - even when cancer overtook her she remained Faithful to the Word. Jim got a little too involved in building a Theme Park, which requires millions and millions of dollars and I think it was too ambitious a Project but I feel his original intentions were honorable.

And Jim did not "cheat" on Tammy Faye. He was set up in that and so was Jessica Hahn. She was made out to be a girl with loose morals and she wasn't. She was used and set up in that as well. The associate of Jim's who did that was the real guilty one.

It WAS a fabulous idea because many, many people long for a place to go where there is peace, wholesomeness, no fear of violence, profanity, anger, all the trappings of a fallen world. Is that wrong? Of course not. These two were crucified for it failing whether deserving or not, the IDEA of such a place died in their hands but it proved one thing.....the people who came were thirsting after what Heritage represented, a lofty place to be, to end up, to wish the best for......God knows the whys for its downfall. Whether you liked them or not, the whole idea was a great one. Maybe someday.......RIP TAMMY. Loved your enthusiasm and love of the Lord. The song she sang in this video was beautiful. You know after all I've seen in the courtrooms and how many children are being adopted out by CPS from good loving families who are hurting for their children, I know how a judge could be bias and close their ears and not even look at all the other preachers that have more than the Bakker's had yet judge, based Purely on prejudicial and biased feelings the case that should have been thrown out of court because of prejudice. I've been there and I'm living it too so I know. I may never see my granddaughter again. I had no money to fight for her and her sister has left our home because they took her little baby sister from us and adopted her to bad people for money. Yes we've been through hell as well and still there. My daughter, her mother, has cancer and is only 38 years old with two small children at home. I remember Jessica from The Help (the only movie I've seen her in before this one) and I've never seen any of Andrew's movies however, they were both excellent in these roles... I fully agree with everyone posting on this board, and to add my two cents, if Jessica doesn't win the Oscar I'll be ready to fly to Hollywood and give those Oscar idiots a piece of my mind (lol)... I'm also very hurt that Andrew did not get a nomination for his portrayal of Jim Bakker... They both did such a wonderful job, I feel they should both win an Oscar :)

We all pay for our transgressions. But PRAISE THE LORD, (IF) we repent, He is so loving & forgiving!!!

Jim should have beaten them all to the punch by just going on TV and admitting to what happened. I'm sure he would have been forgiven, and kept his ministry.

Amen. Falwell was so mean spirited and wanted to steal someone else’s ministry. This was Jim and Tammy’s life work. God gave it to them only.

@@jerseytomato100 The problem is that it wasn't just about the indiscretion. There was financial mismanagement at PTL that was mainly Jim's fault. Jerry Falwell wasn't trying to steal anything. He simply wanted to clean up the mess caused by the Bakkers and understood that If they came back to Heritage USA then the mess would only get worse. In fact, he called them out on it. It was only in prison that Jim confessed his errors and admitted his fault.

In 2022 this is such a sad watch. The enemy got in and allowed to get a foot hold through life choices. How different things could have been but God in His Mercy & Grace opened the sky’s to let the sun shine through as Tammy sang. How beautiful!
