Amazing idea this gives me. I'm staying on a Island that have only 2 "golf" courses. Way below sub-standard. The condition of the "greens" do not justify keeping to R&A specifications as to hole size. Proportionally one can calculate and draw a chart of guidance. Let's say Pebble beach/St'Andrew's standard greens as ultimate and a grass surface of 30mm length cut with brush-cutter. Having 5 hole sizes to choose from.

That would be a great day out playing on a course with the hole that big would give you a huge confidence boost

It will be interesting when you go play with regulation holes to see if this messed up your putting.. We used to play snooker then pool as snooker holes are smaller which made the pool table holes look and feel like bushel baskets.

Didn't Taylormade do this a couple years ago? They suggested bigger cups to get more people into the game because like you said. There's such a big jump from driving range to the golf course. I think something like this would be great for anyone new to the game, irrelevant of age or gender. The slowest part of many games of golf is the work on and around the green. These holes can only speed up the greenside experience. Get more people playing only grows the game.

That was awesome - but here is what i find super interesting.
When you were just playing - and missed the green - you just chipped straight in from off the green no problem. But ---- when you tried to slam dunk it right in - you both missed a bunch bc in your mind the target becomes smaller. Sure - you were trying to put it right in versus bump and running it in - but still its funny to see how just your mental approach to the task changes things!

Hey Rick i was wondering what type of irons you where thinking i should get. I need irons that have a lot of forgiveness. I was looking at the callaway rogue x’s i don’t have that much money to spend so if you could help me that would be great(i mean by giving your opinion on which club)

The course I play at has a 9 hole par 3 course with holes that are slightly bigger than regulation. Partly to make up for the poor greens, but it's great for kids to learn on.

Adlingtons a great place to go for all ages and all skill levels. They also have a longer Per 3 course similar to the short course, again as a step between driving range & 'Real Golf'. The people who run Adlington are really friendly and the facilities are high quality. TBH playing the short par 3 is annoying when the bucket hole is between your ball & the pin, but getting children interested in golf is the price you pay. 🙂
