This video made me happy. I've never been so pleased to see a door shut mate.
😁🥳
Watching the hassle and faff you went through to get this done, confirms why I will never, ever, do this myself. It would drive me nuts. Well done for persevering. A DIY triumph.
But just think, if any of us were to do it in the future, we would know what to do now 😁
Well done! I'm sure there were "a bunch of guys about to turn blue, we're breathing again", thank you!
A few people were asking for an update 😁
Just a little tip I if a concrete screw spins I hit a brown plug in works every time
Oh I'll remember that, I've been cutting off the ends of the framing plugs 😁
I’ve been living with a set of these crappy doors. Got them close enough, but I might go back and try this shim idea. Cheers for the video!
🙌 Awesome, hopefully you'll have some luck 👍
Good job! So satisfying when something you've been persevering with for ages finally works out..! 😁
Pure chance that I found that video whilst looking for metal shims 😎
at my old job we had a metal door in direct sunlight that would jam shut during summer and work normally during winter
we had to shoulder it FBI style to open it
probably the same manufacturer as your door :D
I'm glad my one is north facing otherwise I wouldn't have got away with it 😬
Ah, the exciting conclusion of the door project! Nice work.
What a triumphant moment! The simplest tricks are always the best ones! Doors looking great
To think I was looking at buying another set of doors 😂
Well done mate!🎉, a true story of perseverance and victory! oh and you can also bend the hinge knukles back to close the gap between the hinges leaves. For jext time 😂
Cheers Haha I mentioned that when I filmed it but had to drop it in the final edit otherwise it'd be an hour long 😬 It'd be extremely difficult to bend these ones cause they're chunky mofo's with concealed pins. I reckon you can only really do that with internal doors
I love it when a plan comes together. Cue the music.
Well done! Your perseverance and willingness to consider all possible solutions does you credit. Hope the next job is easier for you. Some silicone grease added down the edge of the doors (where they meet) might stop them binding if they expand in the height of summer.
Good idea 🙌
What a result!!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Well done, mate, so pleased for you
Good job - you didn't need that sledgehammer after all 🤣
Brilliant Aiden! 🎉🎉
Nice one. Happy Days.😃
All the thumbs up well done!
🙌
I feel your frustration buddy, I fitted a latham door (single) and it went it perfect and easy, doorset and door were already fitted, made for a heavier job, but went in alright. £400-450 may be.
Nice 👍 I thought the single doors would be easier, someone else said their single door was a nightmare though! Luck of the draw maybe?! 😬
@@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT I think for your situation a door and half will be really handy for moving gear in and out. I only used a single cos the stored it accessed was small (around 2.5x1.5m). Haha, yeah may be I was lucky, I did build the structure so I could make sure it was a spot on size...I admit, a mallet had to be used as I sat the concrete lintel a few mm lower than it shoulda been...oops 😁
Nice fix 👍
Brilliant. Well done.
Thanks dude
I'm a big fan of spacers/shims. They're saviours of inaccuracy. Good tip to know if I ever have this issue.
Shim for the win!
Well done mate. Knew u would sort it in the end 🎉
Just found your channel mate and love the videos - keep up the good work!
Thanks 👍 Glad to have you on board 😁
What a great ending....I was cheering too
Perfect video, story of my life - problem, sleep on it, find way through. WIN
Power of the shim
Well done , in future never bash the doors with an hammer you'll regret seeing the dents even if it works 😅 ,even though they work now if in future they drop and bind a little get a piece of 50x10 timber about 6ft long and put that between the doors when you close them , that will give the same effect of your shims in pushing the hinges out . Keep the videos coming.
😂 They better not drop in the future! 😅 I don't mind seeing a few dents to stop me wasting a grand, in theory they'll hardly be used anyway. Thanks for the tip 🙌
Could you take off the doors remove the hinges and grind donw on a grinding wheel to get keep them flat 1.5 mm off the back of the hinges both sides and rehang ?
I wouldn't like to grind them down at all really, the big door is about 60kg and the other 30kg 😬
Clever man, I"m impressed. You wouldn't be beaten. Next stop the moon! 👍
In hot weather or when the sun is shining directly on it, it will expand and not close again.
We're all good, this never gets the sun as it's directly facing between North and NNW 😅
Happy days :)
Thank god you did it - life can resume 😂
Aaaand breath 😆
This is the standard "5 min job which becomes an all day ordeal" video..
😅
What a journey.
Where the hell did you buy them from, need to stay well clear of them
😁 they're Latham's 👀
I just skim watched this but...Aren't the hinges supposed to be on the inside for security purposes. What's to stop someone removing the pins or destroying them to remove the door?
The pins aren't exposed on these hinges, even if you cut them off, you couldn't open the door from that side as there's bolts that effectively hold it in the frame so you would then need to cut the frame. Basically a complete nightmare to get in to. The manufacturer had the world's strongest man test them out and he ended up knocking the wall out around the frame instead
@@THE-AIDEN-PROJECTMy Bad , Good job!
Shave it with angle grinder 🤔😄
😂
What a palaver......lol
Got there in the end 🙌
Delete the F word or they will demonetise the video . To early on in the video
😂 It's fine I only make about 3 quid a video. Which works out about 30p an hour 🤣 I did check when I was uploading and from memory you just can't use strong language in the first 7 or 11 seconds I think it said
