Idk I figured that he was. I’d be kinda annoyed if he was straight because I think he would subconsciously be very stereotypical with that. I love that nightvale normalizes not only gay relationships but also biracial relationships. Example, Carlos has dark skin and Cecil is white, Tamika is black, etc.
I kinda figured he is, just by the way he speaks and acts, but when he voices Cecil his voice doesn’t have that same.... forwardness? It’s a little downplayed for Palmer, like it’s more classic straight guy radio host voice, who is non-problematically gay, and when he’s just talking it’s a lot more natural and there’s a lot more feeling into what he says
God he's so engaging and charming! He explains this so clearly and effortlessly it makes you at ease listening, unlike some speakers where you have to engage every part of your brain to stay with it. Such an amazing man and actor... and radio host!

How I found Nightvale: My friend talking about Cecil and Carlos at Midnight during a choir camp. I then asked what it was called. The next day I started listening, Told my friend then she became hooked and her being hooked made me get hooked.
What he said about picturing people differently than who they are by only hearing their voices is so true. I thought for the longest time that Cecil Baldwin the actor was likely a straight black man playing a gay character. I have only listened to the first season and some of the voice acting sounded like genuine nerves. I figured it was the actor being nervous about the dialogue and “sounding gay.” Now I realize it was just terrific acting and the nervousness you would expect from someone gushing over a crush. Also, it took me forever to believe perfect Carlos and Cecil would be canon. I am thrilled. But the character Cecil in my mind is still gonna be a handsome black man. And perfect Carlos is always going to look suspiciously like Enrique Iglesias. And I have no idea where or what direction their relationship will go but let me say that episode 25 had me googling fan fiction for the couple!!! 😁
