As someone who has played Rivals of Aether since Early Access, I was not expecting to hear Rivals music in this video. Rivals 2 and Splatoon 3 are literally the two multiplayer games I regularly play right now.
@@Sprigzz don't have a playlist and songs picked are by the editors of each vid (usually) its always listed in the corner/description though so anyone can make one.
@@ProChara Editor here who picked the music! been playing Roa2 since Early Access as well and absoltely love the music so its been going into alot of videos I edit, esp since I've been working on alot of Rivals 2 content for other youtubers, same reason you'd hear Hi-Fi Rush Music in alot of the videos I've edited for Chara
I couldn't agree more with your statement that the Splatoon community is very bad at promoting the good stuff. If anything, it seems as if it's only promoting the bad parts of the game and the community that so much of the good promotion gets drowned out. Look back at how people reacted to most of the seasonal updates, or how some people saw the whole situation with Jackpot as representative of most of the community.
Someone is talking about how much they like Splatoon and gets hit with the "Ummm, akshually the maps sucks", and it's like...ye, but the game is still really enjoyable despite it's many flaws. It's easier to give negative criticism and that can drown out the huge positives the game has.
It's like people still complaining about the $20 online. I don't like it. They can only get away with it because of how locked down the system is, but it's beating a dead horse.
to be fair, i think Jackpot is a poor example. i agree that the community morale was extremely shitty at the height of those problems, but when something like that drops all at once you can't exactly expect people to be all rainbows and roses about it. i found it nice actually to see this large community consensus about the fact that we had a problem; whether we "fixed" it is up for debate, but it did comfort me to see that a mature response can win out with us. "some of the most globally respected people in the community being revealed to have large, glaring flaws in their image" is basically THE litmus test of a community's ability to self-moderate, and all things considered we did pretty well. (it's good experience to keep in mind whenever the Squid School shit finally bubbles over again.) i agree that we had a tendency to be very negative about updates and seasonal outputs. reasonably so, but in hindsight it just seems so silly.
Fr. I know people who are better than me in comp that arent even in s+, it's really something you can start at any time, and a different skillset that you can hone.
I obviously don't know everything but I'm generally for the concept of ink vac being meta, because whenever it's around I feel more conscious about when I'm throwing subs and specials in case one is ready.
I think it'd be fun if there was a tournament where only bottom-to-low tier weapons are allowed. It would encourage creative team compositions and allow lower tier weapons a moment to shine. Plus, I just think it'd be plain fun.
I mean, there was a gimmick tournament a while back where someone ranked weapons Smogon-style in terms of how often they were used and then said "under-used weapons only"
Wait squid rolls are rarely used? I use them all the time. Jumping onto walls (like in the SR clip here) because it skips the lag when you hit the corner and start climbing, crossing gaps because it’s faster than jumping and you get s for if someone sees you, jumping off walls to get past uninkable surfaces (getting back to plat from the stack on mahi zones), parrying bombs, and squid rolling in a zig zag to get away from someone firing at me bc of the moving target + s. Using squid rolls regularly helped me massively and I’m curious why it’s not used at high levels? I will admit a couple of those would be avoidable with better awareness (I won’t have to get away from a hydra shooting at me if I just stay out of their line of sight) but I can’t always do that in a game like splatoon. I’m not gonna stop using something that works for me just bc top level players don’t but I am curious why they don’t.
Squid rolling for parry frames doesn't actually work against most non-bomb things, and it actually makes your movement easier to track for a while after the initial direction change, so it's not really a good defensive tactic compared to sub strafing, which is what I think the video was talking about. Squid rolling to change directions while jumping to a higher elevation (e.g. getting onto the low ground ramps on Undertow from the side) is very useful and commonly used, to my knowledge.
@@minkblue Comment already got most of it but its not that little used, just less then intended prolly. Sub strafing should be more common though its an easy habit to squid roll instead (I have this issue personally)
@@minkblue Sure thing. There's another case for squid rolling too, which is that it can get you out of a situation where the area around you is being painted and you can't just swim, but it also just kind of lamely jumps in place if you don't have enough ink to get the speed to trigger it, so you'd often prefer to try to use your fastest painting option (main or sub) if it makes sense. And it can be part of dualie movement by rolling in the air afterwards.
Here's a question that's been itching at the back of my head for quite a while now, but I don't know if you'll answer it: Is it always a better idea for a Western player looking to improve to play in Takaroka Division instead of Tentatek Division? Are there any important distinctions between the two divisions besides "Takaroka players are generally more skilled?"
He’s answered this in streams before, iirc he recommends if you are getting high powers in ttek div then it’s worth to move to takaroka to get better matches, but other than that the quality of matches in the lower powers are pretty much the same per region so staying ttek is probably better because less lag
I’m curious as to how the meta and team comps could change if fully customisable kits were implemented in the next game. What type of problems would appear?
wait you had a Q and A thing? DANG I MISED IT. I wanted to ask if there was ever such a thing as a balanced Game, and would it be boring if not one thing was Slitliny overturne? also I get you feel horible going in a mode you don't like that much... I mean I don't like going into Anarchy Open And pro, im mainly a turf guy at best.
3:31 Hold up. "Squid roll is rarely used"? If it's for parrying as you said, then yea. But for movement? There's so many footages in the whole video of using squid roll. 😂 To answer the question, roll is definitely used often. Imo it's a lil different from sub-strafing. Namely I don't have to accidentally deploy my sub doing it… Roll needs less button input for sure. It's hard to describe - I find myself using either sub-strafe or squid roll depending on the situation & what I need. If we were just talking about its parrying ability & not its movement, then squid surge is even worse, as pointing out its ability to climb extra heights doesn't count
I think he meant squid roll is fairly used, or something. if you look at the sentences surrounding it, it feels like it's prepping to say that squid roll is used more?
