Schedule conflicts prevented me from covering this show from the start, but i've caught up with it now and it's definitely an exciting watch. It's got the feeling of a Taylor Sheridan show for sure. What did you think of this episode? Let me know your thoughts below
One of most peculiar aspects of this show is that it contains both very stupid subplots and very deep subplots, with the subplot of Ariana and Cooper being some of the deepest stuff I’ve seen in tv recently. The episode is no exception. Cooper starts working with a crew that are a family and although they seem tough at first they basically treat him like a part of the family. After the accident, Ariana meets Cooper and there is the slow process of him taking over the role Elvio played in her life. He helps with bills and does housework. He then endures a beating by Manuel and Antonio (who Elvio hated when he was alive). In this episode, Cooper finally comes to terms with what is happening. He is helped into Ariana’s home and is initially uncomfortable finding himself in Elvio’s old room, in the house with Elvio’s wife. Cooper looks at a picture of Elvio, almost as if he is asking his deceased friend what is happening. As the day turns into night, it finally hits him. Elvio was his friend and trusted him. Elvio, if he were there, would have wanted the best for his wife and son. He wouldn’t have wanted Ariana scared and alone. Cooper realizes if he learns to love Ariana and fill Elvio’s shoes as husband and father, Elvio would have been happy. When he invites Ariana to cosleep, you see the dog - which had previously hated Cooper - join them on the bed and it seems like there is a family coming back into the house. Elvio’s picture is still there, as if he is still watching over them. The next morning, after some smooches, the lawyers try to ambush Ariana by getting her to sign the agreement only this time she has Cooper to look over it with her. There is also a duality between Ainsley and Cooper. In the same episode, Ainsley goes to a party and tries to get cozy with someone she just met. Ainsley comes off as reckless, selfish and immature in her relationships while Cooper comes off mature, basically becoming a man to take care of Ariana and her son. I really hope Taylor Sheridan gives Ariana and Cooper a happy ending, but part of me thinks he’ll make it tragic. The lawyers may shake things up. It’s also interesting to note over the course of the show Rebecca seems to be moving from a hero in the beginning to more of a villain as the show wraps up…
I think you’re looking too deep into it, cooper is riddled with survivors guilt and Ariana being a SAHM needs someone to keep taking care of them. It’s a match made in hell for them to be together under those circumstances.
They need to go ahead and sign. I think she's smiling b/c if they really start questioning Cooper, they will realize it was the worker's who were at fault and likely not HAVE to pay at least one family anything outside of the 25,000 life insurance policy.
This show and the Lioness series are two of the best shows out there right now I only wish they were longer than 8 episodes and then have to wait an entire year or more for the next 8 come on man make them at least 13 episodes
i still can’t believe those guys beat up their boss’s son did they know? cause there’s just no way😭😭😭 hope it wasn’t bad writing and they just didn’t know
Cooper’s dad isn’t just the boss…he’s also a hitman, an alcoholic safecracker who dresses like Santa, the President of the United States and a correctional officer. Not to mention the sheriff is Harry Heck.
Ariana is a challenge when it comes to signing the papers and getting the right amount she wants, she's already sleeping with the 1 man who survived the explosion that killed her husband..his first day on the job. Haha, so it's looking suspicious..if Rebecca wants to go that route. Either way, it's becoming Tommy VS Marty. Tommy's son helping hold up this situation is a thorn in Marty's side and he may say something to Tommy he'll live to regret. That's the show, Tommy VS Marty. Once the cartel hurts his daughter due to Marty's lack of security then it's game on.
Exactly . I think the daughter dies or something horrific because Marty doesn’t want to pay the cartel . That’s why when Billy bob is walking thru the house he is in awe of everything , and sees Marty daughter living her best life . When Billy’s daughter dies , he’s gonna think of all that and lose it
I agree that episode 7 was more like a placeholder for future episodes. Angela either finds something interesting to do or she is like her character at the hospital. Yelling and cursing without driving the story forward. The Cartel is like a storm on the horizon with occasional flashes of lightning and waiting for it's arrival.
Well - I suppose that Monty didn't get to where he is without taking risks and 300 million under current circumstances is a big, big risk... But I did notice that Tommy and Monty had a very brief exchange about Monty getting Tommy help and I guessed it was regarding the Cartel.. and Tommy did say to Dale that he was 'working on it (help)". Angela serves the purpose of being a bad influence on the daughter and a thorn in the side of Tommy... but who knows, maybe she'll start up a business involving rest homes...
I also don't understand why they've "been looking for" him. He was never hiding! He was at his job then he was in the hospital and just got out. How hard could they have looked?
Sadly so much of the key moments are bullcrap. Dialogue is well written though. Pipe blow out because of steel tools is bullcrap. Everything is aluminum and brass specifically because of this. The truck hitting the plane is bullcrap because there where giant shoulders the truck could have driven on to avoid the plane. Dudes beating up bosses son would never happen, as everyone would know. All the key drama moments dont make sense.
@@miketarbert4609 Donnie will divert material and labor from the oil patch to build his stupid wall, the oil patch will shut down, oil will skyrocket in price and people will be slapping stickers on gas pumps with Donnie’s photo on them saying “I did that”.
Good show, but the storyline with respect to the cartel/oil company relationships, it is a significant departure from reality. It’s a don’t mess with us and we won’t mess with you kind of thing, for the reasons the Tommy character stated in previous episodes. Mess with the oil business in any organized fashion, and the military will rain fire on your ass- as the Zetas learned the hard way in Mexico.
"Looking all over" for Cooper? The guy sitting next to her (Nate) has known where Cooper was the whole time. Bad writing for the sake of making her look mean & sinister.
Your giving Taylor way to much credit with upcoming plots the description of next weeks episode or the following week says the national guard is going to be on the patch
I can do Native American content but it’s almost never done without it being preachy and I don’t like that if I wanna be made to feel guilty I’ll watch myself snacking 😂
I have an idea: why not just drop Angela's character right here with no explanation and no further mention of her and see how many viewers miss her. Some of the viewers who have dropped out might even come back.
I'd argue that Angela serves as bringing out Tommy's softer/sweet side, when he doesn't want to kill her. Gives the character depth and more relatable.
True, but she doesn't hold a candle to Ariana, Ainsley, or Rebecca. But she is still gorgeous and let's see how the others hold up when they get to be Angela's age. Lol
This show has moments and I like Billy Bob but the writing is ridiculous, the female characters are insufferable and whats with the weird borderline Chester stuff with constantly objectifying the body of this girl who is supposed to be 17....This is some Hollywood degeneracy in cloak. Taylor Sheridan is weird dude.

How was it there fault if the pump was NOT up to code?
Aww what.. Does this come out a day before us in America? Love this show, Billy Bob Thornton is just phenomenal
As soon as i heard billy was star, i knew i had to check it out. Hooked from first scene.
WIND RIVER is what got me into Taylor Sheridan stuff and of course SICARIO he uses that music mood for LIONESS

No I think they knew, they were just too dumb to care. Blinded by rage and jealousy.
Better late than never!😅 This would be a perfect time for a crossover. The Lioness crew can take out the Cartel. Please also binge Earth Abides!💕
That's true! Sheridan's show cover so much ground now that a crossover would work in a humourous way!
Earth Abides is good, so far.
Can't do a crossover, James Jordan is also in Lioness, That wouldn't work out. Just my POV
@@islandgyal3730 they should have Rip Wheeler take the cartel to the Train Station
For a true crossover why not just pit them against the X-men?
I was soo worried about Cooper last week after his 2nd beating..I got so invested in these characters in just 5 episodes...GREAT SHOW!
Yeah Coopers one of the best characters for sure!
Glad to see you finally hopped on the Landman bandwagon 👏🏻
Yeah I can't believe it took me so long! It was clashing with other shoes but binged through it the other day!
Is there a point to Angela's storyline...she's eye candy

I didn't even think about that angle - Ariana hooking up with Cooper would look super suspicious to investigators!

I bet Rebecca will threaten to officially blame Cooper for the accident to get Ariana to sign the papers. That one seems like a snake.
cooper should also get a settlement for his injure in from the first/second episode.
this he 7th episode still has 3 more episodes.
But why the lawyer say they have been looking for Cooper.
She wants to question him about the accident hoping to prove it was the workers error so they would not have to pay large settlements to the families
I also don't understand why they've "been looking for" him. He was never hiding! He was at his job then he was in the hospital and just got out. How hard could they have looked?
Right he was not hiding he was in the hospital twice and also living at the camp hell she was with his dad for days
Finally love it 💯
We’re gonna forgive you for choosing this episode to start with 😂
Just the right amount of demi Moore...
Rebecca is becoming one of my favorite characters. I also think that she maybe becoming a bit sweet on Tommy.
She is a great character!

Angela’s storyline during this episode lets you know she’s just kinda here 😂 they had to give her something
I hope they work in the new administrations border control into the story in a Position Way
It'll be interesting to see if they do!

Taylor Sheriduck is the modern day Louis Lamour
No no no the music is in honor of his role as coach on FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS 😂
it's funny, billy bob was in friday night lights and his ex was in varsity blues, both basically Midland

Doesn’t the cartel realize that Billy Bob Thorton is the star of the show?!😂
This episode felt like a filler. Aynsley and Angela are growing on me.
Definitely the most filler of them all!
It was a filler.
Brother if you post one more thumbnail with (why she smiled) we’re fighting 😂
"Looking all over" for Cooper? The guy sitting next to her (Nate) has known where Cooper was the whole time. Bad writing for the sake of making her look mean & sinister.
She hasn’t had a chance to talk to him because he has been in the hospital 2 times since the accident

You really think the cartel would just keep her phone after kidnapped her yeah right 😅
It was a builder.
Agreed. Sometimes the necessary setups can feel boring, but they're important to keep things going.

@ if it’s not, it’ll do until the cheese gets here.
Angela=Eye candy
The rest home side quest was just stupid and pointless.
This show is a fucking soap opera
Well no fucking shit Sherlock..... 90% of the shows on TV are soap opera LMFAO
Duh
