Billy Bob’s diatribe concerning “green energy” and wind turbines was so spot on and so true! I worked as a Land Secretary, Landman and Division Order Analyst in several Texas Oil Companies in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s and I loved every minute of it.

Holy cow you are so incredibly gullible! And you truly have no idea what you are talking about and have obviously never educated yourself. From mining the raw materials to the manufacturing process of the wind machine to the delivery to the job site and installation and maintenance over the lifetime of the wind machine, makes up for roughly only 5% of the total energy it will produce over its lifetime!! So sad that you are just another gullible uneducated American disgracing the dignity of our country.

This is *such* a good show. And no, you don't need to know anything about working the "patch" to understand and follow it. It's very much a *human* story, and that's the interesting part. And I do have to agree with Ali. Some of Billy Bob's monologues are absolutely top-tier. I'm talking James Spader as Raymond Reddinton-monologue level.

    He’s not portraying a stereotype.

  • @546cowboy6
    @546cowboy6 18 дней назад +3

What is with that head piece Billy?
Having actually worked on three real drilling rigs in Texas and Louisiana. One that had recently fell down while running pipe back in the hole before I worked on it. One well I was on was a 22,825 ft. dry hole on an island in the Mississippi river in Baton Rouge.
What is shown on Landman is a smaller workover rig that does not drill wells. That scene where the guy up in the Derrek gets hurt and they send the worm up happened to me. The worm is the newest guy on the crew and what happened was we were running 2" tubing that was too tall to unlatch from the board where the derrick hand works from. The derrick hand climbed up in the girders to unlatch and I would pull the tubing back and stand it in the rack.
All I can say is my legs never quit shaking as I leaned out looking straight down 90' to the rig floor. Yes I had a belt, a rope and a cable attached to it and that board is less than two feet wide out there. I have to say though I ended up liking it more up there than down on the floor and used to go up and let the derrick hand take a break many times tripping pipe after that. What you see on this show is nothing compared to what it is like drilling the wells.

Been a good while since something new came on that i really enjoyed. Having worked a few years in the oilfield when i was just out of high school down in that same area (Monahans area near Odessa) it was kind of cool to see those jobs come to life. One thing though, i got paid pretty well for the time (1983-1985), but it damn sure wasnt anywhere near 180K, even factor inflation.
Note: i stand corrected. Just checked and i actually was making the equivalent of 180K.

But when you get past the garbage, the pure dialog is really good.
Tommy gave a great truthful speech about the oil industry recently that was great.
"If Exon thought windmills were the future, they would be putting them up everywhere"
They didn't go liberal woke garbage.

All I know about this show 'Landman' is that it breaks the clutter which gluts streaming and network services in content streaming,, but it definitely needs writers, that much also is true... for somebody who has been studying fuels for such long time, and being a writer I know this fact, I have asked WGF LA to be put in touch with them, their programs either come very late to me, or Katie Buckland sends me the last.. but my experienced writers eye tells me they need writers to create it into one of winning, aware, and excellent show which lets world finally know what and who has been making it happen in fast motion of their modern life and that it yes, ends at some point.

I will say, that it is Billy Bob Thornton's performance that brings the show all together. His accent and his mannerisms are what sell the believability of his character and its his ability to blend that into a corporate cowboy hybrid persona that lends realism to what the show is all about.

Watched the first 2 episodes of this show and unfortunately I have to say that I it never hooked me. This is extremely surprising, as all of Sheridan's work pulls you in with the the first 15 minutes or so.
I would be watching episode 3 to see if I would continue but thus far it is a miss. It seemed like the same character from Bad Santa and Goliath found a new gig - to become an oil man. Drop in a teen who seems oblivious to having some sought of decency in the the interactions with her father and the men in general in the house.
This is the first time I have seen a Sheridan project that did not deliver in 2 hours of viewing. Mr. Sheridan you have done well and continue to do well with the likes of Sicario, Wind River, Yellowstone, Tulsa King, Lioness etc. I just can't place what is wrong here. Be it a broad statement, I would say it lacks substance. Every artist/artists has a miss once in a while.

Taylor Sheridan has a strange view of his female characters. The behavior between Tommy (BBT) and his 17 year old daughter is definitely weird. But, then, I read that Billy Bob Thornton wears women's jeans, it all made sense. Yes, you read that right. BBT buys his jeans in the female section of the department store, or, wherever you buy ladies jeans.

Billy Bob needs to fire his fashion person who’s telling him that how he’s dressing is flattering when it is not the whole hat on a hat 🎩 is really not a good look for him. He looks ridiculous. I’d rather see him dressed as the character in the show then as this because this seems like he’s trying to look like something he’s not and what he looks like is an aged rockstar that’s never rocked just rolled. Just looks like he’s doing cosplay. Doesn’t look like he’s unless somehow he some lead singer or whatever to some band that I never heard of shucks even Kevin Bacon and his brother have a band together, but they look the part they don’t look goofy, but that being said he’s great in the show but yeah, he’s he’s a weird character anyways in life him and Angelina Jolie with wearing each other’s blood in a vile around their neck.

I have very little respect for actors because far as I’m concerned they’re just a bunch of people who spelled words written by other people they’re almost like dummies with strings attached to their bodies and their mouths OK but this guy seems like he’s pretty authentic and the same with Jimmy Stewart was authentic

This show is unwatchable. I can’t believe how bad it is.
And I don’t see how 63% of rotten tomatoes audiences like it.

Don't watch it then, plenty of other shitty shows on tv or streaming platforms

@ : Why don’t you state the obvious and tell me something I didn’t know. Could you not infer by my comments of, “it’s unwatchable” that we wouldn’t be continuing!

@ : nice try with your fallacious arguments. (That’s what leftists do).
Let’s see: 350 million in America and only 12.4 million watching. That’s more than 96% not watching.

Plays a man on TV, dresses like a 12 year old Korean Kpop boy in real life.
