I was treated to seeing them live at the old Tangier Lounge about 4-5 years ago by someone very special who didn't know that Lakeside made some of her favorite R&B songs. They put on a excellent show, very entertaining & interactive with the audience during & after the show. I did not miss MW after the first song.
NOBODY sounds like Mark Woods; then, OR now. But the brother did his bandmates sooo, sooo wrong---by taking sole control of the legal rights of the band's music catalogue and copyrights. That's why the band had to re-form...without him. The original bandmates get NO residuals (profits) from all that music they created collectively. "Brother" Mark Woods maneuvered his way into being the sole holder and controller of the band's music. AND, (even worse!) he's a Revered now. 🙄 There's a video on RUclips about the band's breakup.
There's a RUclips video (might be "Unsung") that tells about the band's breakup; and how the former lead singer wrested control of the band's music catalogue away from the other members---so, they can no longer benefit from the band's copyrighted music. I don't even like The Beatles other than "Don't Let Me Down "...I Love this cover of "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" only because it's Lakeside and Soulful!! These legends still got it! 35 years old but an old soul at heart and in spirit...I listen to nothing but Prince, oldies, funk, old school, blues, reggae, & all the classics! 🥰
Lol so you like beatles b sides and listen to older music but dont like the rest if the beatles catalogue, no chance the great band of all time, you wil like more you just ain't found it yet. In my life Here there and everywhere Etc etc
Black artists have a way of adding a "vocal elegance" to ANYTHING they touch. Check out these covers of Beatles songs---by Black artists: --"And I Love Her" Bobby Womack --"Yesterday" Marvin Gaye There are many others. Google: "black artists who've covered songs by The Beatles"; and prepare to be amazed.

You’re an old soul like me. I’m 50 now but been this way all my life. Just love me some ole school r & b, and this cut I could listen do all day over and over again.
Josh they sound better than great. These people here know anything about music. They just sit at home and play there Cds or Album. Music is a craft.. shows takes a lot of time putting them together. Like I said these people criticize because they probably don't have any gift what Yah bless them with. People criticize because that's nothing but jealousy. When you can't sing well you gonna criticize other. People of color needs to stop the jealousy of others
Not enough people know the role Mark Wood (lead vocalist) played in the band's breakup. Allegedly, Mark Wood had all the band's musical rights transferred into his name; solely. Meaning that the rest of the band could no longer use the name, or receive royalties from the music. And, to top it off: he's now a REVERED! 🙄 "Money will make friendships end." Thank you!! This was great. I wish Mark Wood didn't remove himself from the group. These guys could put the F, the U, the N and the K in funk. If you don't know what I mean, listen to Raid. Thanks again.
True. But brother Mark did his team DIRTY. He wrestled legal control of the band's entire catalogue away from the others. That's why they had to change the group's name to "The New Lakeside". So...he gets ALL of the royalties from the music they made over the years. There's a video on RUclips that explains the breakup---from the band's perspective. I think it may be a version of the "Unsung" series. It's worth watching. "Money will make friendships end." Peter Tosh, formerly of Bob Marley & The Wailers.
Rose suits are out only for groups like the Temptations not for a band. Every now and then it's cool but not for a band Everytime they step on a stage. And another thing sorry you don't think it sounds the same like yesteryear. You seen them on Tv. Yes the sound is different because there's a record player mostly in the back ground. You call this live. If it's live why do you need for it to sound just like the record. That's why they call it live to put on a show. This video showing how good a band they are. If they gonna sound just like the record.. why then should I go to there concert when I can stay home and listen to the record. People of color knows how to entertain there ordinance. A lot of the white band's play there music like the record. Only a few white band knows how to entertain like some of the old band's.
I really dont think this great band was feeling to well .This concert was not their best performance it was lacking SOMETHING ? on this one 👎Lakeside January19,2021
Sheila I don't think you a ear for a good sound. Lakeside laid this song out. I'm a musician and own a record company over in the Philippines now. When people criticize. They shows me they don't have a good ear. But usely when you hear someone else saying how good another band sound. That's letting you know there ears are better than a regular person there. Because our are more trained than you guys. A lot of you goes out and buy record because you thinks it sounds good. We buy record to sound good and how tight there sound is
I liked the way the beetles sang it too. Did a whole lot of dancing to it back in 1964.
Wow they sound absolutely amazing

No one can sing this song like Mark Wood...how voice is absolutely insane...
I saw Mark woods in concert over twenty years ago. He broke out and did a gospel song , it was so beautiful. The crowd was mesmerized.
@@sonyabell4573 I wish I could have heard it. I hear that gospel foundation in all of his songs. How blessed you are!
You're so right...
Mark sounds like the Late Great David Ruffin...
