Nice job on the seats! Very well done. There is a lot of VW RUclipsrs that could learn from you on doing a nice job. The red interior does look nice with the black exterior.
Its not necessary but adding a layer of burlap on the seat bottom will help the seat pads not to wear and dump the loose particles on the floor. Also adding a vapor barrier/heavy plastic to the inside of the door prior to installing the door panel will keep the panels from getting wet and deteriorating.
Thank you Robert. There will be a body off restoration for this bug in the next couple years. At that point the door panels will come off and then I will install the vapor barriers you mention. It sounds like you have a lot of experience. I'd like to hear more about your story at some point and you experience with VW restoration.
@@backyardkombi5466 I thought the car looked pretty good for a driver. Didn’t think a restore was needed. I have been working on these since the early 80s.
How did I miss this video until now? Great work. Removing rust, welding, fitting, etc. You did it all.
Thanks Scotty! I always enjoy your videos.

Good job 👍🏴
Thanks Ross!
I'm working on the same year and color bug
We should start a club 😅
Nice work. Were you not able to install a grab handle on the door cards beforehand? A bit hard to see from the video, but it would also be an opportune time to install a moisture barrier between the door and the door card. I also think that a spring was installed on each spindle (again between the door and the door card), prior to the handles going on.
Hi steve. In the next couple years there will be a full body off resto of this car so I decided against the moisture barrier until then. I’ll look into the rest of your suggestions. Ty very much for commenting.
