  • Of Tim Richmond's 13 career wins in NASCAR, perhaps none demonstrated what made him a special talent and one of NASCAR's top drivers of the 1980s quite like the 1986 Summer 500 at Pocono, where he went from driving his car in reverse back to pit road and losing a lap to winning a fog-shortened race in a photo finish.

Correction: Richmond also won the '83 Like Cola 500, so his win total at Pocono is four, not the stated three.

I was there on that foggy day back in 1986. My first cup race. With the fog, Rudd came out of nowhere from our perspective because he was nowhere near #5 and #25 when they took the white flag.

This is an INCREDIBLE video - very well done! How it doesn't have more views is beyond me. Nobody ever talks about this! Thank you for putting this together 👍

This is why I'm a big fan of Ty Gibbs carrying on the tradition of driving while HIV positive. God bless.

Man, he was a dude. It's awful everybody couldn't be out in the open about what was going on. He could've run another season. Freaking politics.
