For what the scene represents, this was iconic. But looking at the duel from a more realistic scene I think the writers did a poor job. They should have scripted the fight differently. A spear maybe in the mix would have made it more believable and maybe a lucky chance that allows him land a cool blow for the viewers. It’s unlikely you’d be able to get there but someone did in the 90s. Sustained injuries but killed a bear by stabbing it in the neck while it was mauling him
