I remember the dustbins of the 1950`s All that went into them was ash from the fire and empty steel cans, the steel cans were separated at the depot by a big electromagnet and recycled. Bottles and jars etc had a deposit, so they were returned for money off your next bottle etc. There was virtualy no plastic packaging, paper and cardboard were used to light the fire. So called recycling is not what they say. Most plastics are sent abroad and burnt. Some are recycled, but a very smal %
They do, you are absolutely right! Even watching our collections, the often mix recycling with black bin waste as they can’t be bothered. It’s just a way to gain more money under their agenda !
Many years ago when, i first went to our farm shop. The lady running it gave us a green tray. I believe all customers are given one. Each week, you would take it and fill up with ever you brought to this day. i still have mine around 8 years now. In Canada, everyone does recycling, you know why because they get money back on the tins and plastic bits. It pays them to recycle.
Shortages, yes, but I am also so glad I stocked up and stored well so many foods which are now out of reach of my bank account. I am so old that I remember when they pushed plastic grocery bags as "saving the planet because it saves trees"! Actually, as I am listening, I am gathering repurposing plastic containers by preparing to send food and goodies home with family or as gifts in post-consumer plastic, and other containers, (aluminum and cardboard boxes), from things I had purchased. I have been in exile in a small-minded area where some tried to implement recycling, but few in the 'city' signed up and the ones outside of town ruined it for the rest of us by continually dumping their trash in the recycle bins.
I don’t want the packaging Especially on meat I know I’m still using plastic but here is an example of how much the supermarkets are using I bought a vacuum sealer and took all my frozen goods out of the original packaging and vacuum sealed it It made so much space in the freezer I can go out and buy even double the amount of frozen food now to fill the freezer up
WTF The cardboard and plastic is collected and taken to recycling plants. The cardboard is mulched down and reused for many other items and the companies creat jobs. The plastic is collecting by recycling companies and the polyetherlene and polypropalene is seperated, chopped up and also reused for many projects and the companies creat jobs. We know many ppl do not recycle their cardboard and plastics, that is another issue. Bur reusing cardboard and plastics is big money. So keir stalin wants to impose a zero tollerence on these ites, which means these companies will have to lay off employees due to lack of rescources which will add the the social problem by making ppl unemployed............
What I hope happens is savvy retailers will loan you a caddy for your veg- that they own and want back- therefore no tax. This would be ideal for eggs, and loose veg if they standardise the sizes and operated a return scheme. Meat could be a problem as single use plastic is the most hygienic.
Very good video thank you for doing it. I think the only way to save money is cut right down on fresh food waste and switch to cheaper brands or make things yourself. I have cut right down on the number of food items opened and this cuts down on wasted money. I think no shopper was happy when they switched to all fresh veg being in plastic bags where you can't even see properly what you will be paying for individually rather than lose in boxes and then wrapped in paper pages and cardboard boxes. Happy Christmas and new year everyone.
They need to be putting a tax on the air and water transport, then working with our farmers to grow more. More and more of my shop brought veg is now coming from over sea's and all of that transport must be costing the environment - seems to be common sense to me. Mind you if starmer stopped flying all over the world on his jollies, that would also make a big improvement to the environment

It is a KNOWN and PROVEN fact that recycling centers recycle a VERY SMALL amount of what is returned to them (especially plastics).
They do, you are absolutely right! Even watching our collections, the often mix recycling with black bin waste as they can’t be bothered. It’s just a way to gain more money under their agenda !
They dump all plastics in third world countries, along with most other recyclables, the biggest scam in history.
@markritacco... So where did you get your known and proven facts from.
A guy put some air tags in his recycling and followed them, all ended up I landfill, its a con.
Why did he put air tags in his recycling
The packaging should be returned to the supermarkets.
