The trilogy is LITERALLY a sequel to advent children: from the first game you can clearly tell that Aerith and Sephiroth knew what was going to happen in the future and by challenging fate multiple timelines were created so there’s a chance to see Aerith back in the third game in fact she’s alive in Zack’s timeline.
I wouldn’t call it a sequel even thi it feels like that if you have played OG. I see it more like a bigger expanded retelling. Originally they wanted to tell this story(devs have said it) but they didn’t have the time or resources at the time so we got what we got. Then they tried to tell it with compilation but it was messy. Yes 100% we are getting a zack & aerith adventure in part 3.
Yeah like weiss and nero, they dont appeared on the OG. But in DOC they are there at the first time but so secret so thats why they put nero snd weiss there Not only an expanded version of the OG, remake and rebirth is a different timeline than the OG
I’m sure like many others, playing Rebirth was to find out if Aerith was gonna live or die, and when the cutscene of Sephiroth coming down with his sword, I literally screamed at the top of my lungs like I was on a roller coaster. When it looked like Cloud saved Aerith by hitting Sephiroth’s sword away, I screamed a “Fuck yeah!!”. But once the blood appeared on the ground, I knew something wasn’t right. The slow motion kicked in with Aerith’s dying body falling forward with Cloud’s reaction of shock and horror. And then, those first notes of Aerith’s theme kicked in, I knew we had been tricked. We have been fooled. It was 1997 again. We then hear Sephiroth laughing at not only Cloud but also us, the gamers. Tears suddenly started flowing from my eyes into my face uncontrollably. 4 years since Remake. 27 years since OG. Countless hours playing Rebirth for this very moment and I felt everything I’ve done was gone to waste in a matter of seconds. And when I finished the game after trying again and again dying fighting Sephiroth, I cried when the credits rolled on screen with “No Promises to Keep” playing in the background. It was finally over. 70+ hours of gameplay. Me playing the game like a crazy maniac these last two weeks including staying up late and playing all day during the weekends. I will always remember Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. I will always remember those 7 seconds. Thanks for the video. Peace brother. Until we meet again.
The significance of holding hands with fingers interlocking (not sure how accurate it is) but they state "two people intertwining their fingers while holding hands is called 恋人つなぎ (koibito tsunagi, “lover’s connection”) in Japanese culture." And not only does that happen on their date, it happens at the end of the final battle and is the trophy picture for completing said chapter.
Aerith still alive in at least 2 timelines. The one where cloud saved her and the one where she is knocked out. I’m pretty sure the main timeline is the one where she faked her death to trick Sephiroth. Aerith wake up. But then the viewer follows the alternate timeline which is the OG where she is dead but that timeline isn’t the true one anymore that’s why cloud can see the rip in the sky. I will guarantee Aerith will be alive at the end of part 3 this time around. I can think of a few ways to still keep advent children canon and keeping Aerith and Zack alive
Nah the main time line is the one where she died aka the one the party sees. Cloud is in a weird split plaxe because he crosses the whisperers alone. Unlike in the first when everyone crosses it together. Thats why when he is walking up to dead aerith there’s one with the party crying and then the one where he goes and tells her to wake up.
I’d argue that Seph killed the Aerith in the church (he went around killing all the Aerith’s to be fair) and the only “living” one was created in a timeline when cloud blocked the attack (same rainbow colours appear just like other instances when a new timeline is created (ie when Biggs goes right instead of left)) The only hang up I have about this is Aerith saying (right as the final fight begins) “I saw what you did back there, thank you”. That makes me think it’s from an outside perspective but it could also be a translation / localization thing. But for all intents and purposes, the story played out the same and we couldn’t change what happened. Having said that, given that this is a Zack / Aerith redemption tail (and we didn’t get her final weapon / ability in Rebirth) she will be playable in some form for 3. (Likely w/ Zack as I’m placing my bets on the story playing out almost the same except Zack / Aerith get to choose their sacrifice rather than having their lives taken by fate. (Likely together at the end which would be bitter sweet)

In remake the whole party enters the portal and they all alter fate together. Two timelines happen at the city of ancients. One where cloud goes in alone and manages to save her. when he walks up to aeriths dead body he is behind the whole party and then they cut to a version where he is alone with aerith. In the one alone with aerith you see the same rainbows as when zack chose to go to shinra instead of biggs in the train. We also still go the zack going to biggs so thats what that seems like. It’s just more stuff to mess with clouds head since after being reAwoken in aeriths dream/ other dog time line he can now pierce a little between realms too.
57:35 this story has existed for 26 years now. What does it say about it that we still STILL hope, that this time maybe, just maybe, it will end differently.

Damn you Square Enix. You had me at Aerith’s goodbye. It sounded so final as we won’t see her anymore with the party. That’s the part that always got to me - she knew her fate and never wanted to burden anyone with it even in the end. Worth watching you play this chapter from start to end. 😢💔. Here’s to hoping more cameo via Cloud’s fragmented head in P3 and through the life stream.
If you watch the end credits closely, you'll see that all the parts regarding Aerith's death are missing. They literarily make space for a scene that didn't happen in the game because Cloud has edited it out of his own mind (or perhaps Aerith has directed that). We will definitely get that all in part 3, Cloud's tearful soliloquy and Aerith water burial included. Exactly what details they'll change about his breakdown and recovery is the real question.
The music playing during the fight is the best part. Saved the scene in terms of sadness . Kept losing the emotion cause it switched over to "Sephiroth is badass and calm with it" Lol I was looking forward to the sad tbh lol

Great playthrough! I believe they didn't show the whole picture of her death due to all the strange cuts that were present I am sure we will get the full thing with cloud putting her in the water in the next game as the timelines are a little messy right now :)

That's the biggest problem....they overcomplicated something that should have been black and white. Nobody wants to have to go search for an explanation to the ending of a game they just spent 100 hours on, especially one THAT HAS BEEN DONE BEFORE. My guess is egos got in the way and screwed up something that should have been left alone.
@@dylangoff2113 i personally don’t think it’s that complicated. They emphasize how important the dogs are in remake. The whole “follow the beagle spray paint” etc… they show you other time line worlds with the dogs but none of those are really that important. No need to over complicate yourself. Only universes that really matter are Main TL, Zackverse where aerith and cloud are still asleep and the zack that was left at the church.

I agree too, but i can’t say it’s better then og just yet. Once we have part 3 then i will give my verdict. Chapter 14 kinda was a little too convoluted and kingdom hearts ish for me(great games just too many storylines and confusing plot).

I felt tge game was a MASTERPIECE....UNTIL chapters 13 and 14. They just had to go and screw up the big moment with with convoluted other world nonsense. It was a disservice to Aeriths character and the story as a whole. That moment should have been about her, and the party dealing with her loss. Instead, the primary focus was on alternate world bullshit and totally robbed any real emotion and/or soul from the moment. Somebody should tell the writers that sometimes, less is more. And the reason that they didn't give her the water burial, It's because they're gonna come up with some nonsensical.Excuse to bring her back in the third game. U watch. Death is tragic because it is FINAL. But not in this day and age of Final Fantasy. It's hard to mourn someone when they're in every scene and have more lines of dialogue than everybody else AFTER their death. It all felt like lazy, terribly written fan service. I have no faith.They're going to put together a coherent story for the final chapter. What a mess they made of what was.....up til the last couple chapters.....a masterpiece. Shame on them.

I will agree it felt a tiny bit rushed and they tried to cram a lot of things in these 2 chapters. I counted 5 maybe 6 different timelines. All can be seen with each dog in the snacks and graffiti. Still a masterpiece and squares best work in the last 10 years for sure.

How do they expect ANYONE not to get lost with that mess, KNOWING FULL WELL they're just going to introduce more of them in the final game. 3 is pushing it. 5 or 6? That's just absurd. The impact/emotion of Aeriths "death" was GREATLY diluted due to all the timeline bullshit, which baffled everyone in the worst way. And im sorry, bur Zachs presence as a playable character is a terrible decision....it totally undermines the end of his own game and just reeks of fan service. And plz just leave all these characters that don't belong in FF7 out....who the hell is Glenn anyway and why the hell is he in this story. Square needs to realize that probably the majority of players didn't watch or care about advent children, read that smile book they did and whatever else they came out with to milk the golden cow. They bought the game for FF7 and couldn't care less about the other stuff.

For example theres the beagle timeline (main) and the terrier timeline (zack verse) then when zack is deciding to go save biggs or to go to shinra on his bike 2 other time lines happen. A pug timeline (biggs gets killed end of that TL) . zack at shinra is beagle TL i believe. Then theres a shiba TL (zack at church and seph throws him in portal). This zack is presumed to be the one that fights with cloud because he comes out of a portal. There is also another timeline (the aerith and cloud date in sector 5) this one ends when she pushes cloud through portal.

Nobody wants to have to go search for an explanation to the ending of a game they just spent 100 hours on, especially one THAT HAS BEEN DONE BEFORE. My guess is egos got in the way and screwed up something that should have been left alone.
@@dylangoff2113 i personally don’t think it’s that complicated. They emphasize how important the dogs are in remake. The whole “follow the beagle spray paint” etc… they show you other time line worlds with the dogs but none of those are really that important. No need to over complicate yourself. Only universes that really matter are Main TL, Zackverse where aerith and cloud are still asleep and the zack that was left at the church.
@frankieJplays i think they will show it what happen and the water part too in the 3rd game , i dont see why they wouldnt do it , later , and i think its when Cloud will figure himself out , I was very disappointed too

@@FrankieJPlays oh yea ,plus Cloud is slowly becoming insane, I noticed how when Cloud was holding Aerith , she was alive to him , but everyone else saw a dead Aerith and Cloud holding her hand to his face . I'm like , is it a time and world thing or is he just losing his mind, or both ?

And i agree best final fantasy since X thats for sure , i also think rebirth is way better then OG7 or any ff7 sequel so far , crisis core , dirge of cerberus , remake and OG7 for sure
I agree too, but i can’t say it’s better then og just yet. Once we have part 3 then i will give my verdict. Chapter 14 kinda was a little too convoluted and kingdom hearts ish for me(great games just too many storylines and confusing plot).
ya same goes with chapter 18 in remake , didnt like it at all , as for chapter 14 rebirth jenova was excellent one of the best moment . the advent children section as they all gather to max hit her was special , i call up triple sync attack in the 3rd game for sure. I didnt like the none show or censure kill and missing the water scene , instead they give us some none important and worthless Glenn time. like who fucking cares , thos extra like Roche could have been pass , overall 9.8/10 game for sure.@@FrankieJPlays
@@illumina91 haha yeah but they saving the water scene and stuff to show how cloud keeps avoiding it in his head. Also glenn was to establish that it was seph pulling the strings all along. He has mentioned that the more negative energy the stronger he becomes. What’s the most negative emotion filled event that can happen? War, which was not in OG.

I felt tge game was a MASTERPIECE....UNTIL chapters 13 and 14. They just had to go and screw up the big moment with with convoluted other world nonsense. It was a disservice to Aeriths character and the story as a whole. That moment should have been about her, and the party dealing with her loss. Instead, the primary focus was on alternate world bullshit and totally robbed any real emotion and/or soul from the moment. Somebody should tell the writers that sometimes, less is more. And the reason that they didn't give her the water burial, It's because they're gonna come up with some nonsensical.Excuse to bring her back in the third game. U watch. Death is tragic because it is FINAL. But not in this day and age of Final Fantasy. It's hard to mourn someone when they're in every scene and have more lines of dialogue than everybody else AFTER their death. It all felt like lazy, terribly written fan service. I have no faith.They're going to put together a coherent story for the final chapter. What a mess they made of what was.....up til the last couple chapters.....a masterpiece. Shame on them.
I think the water scene was left out so they can cut back to it to show how cloud has mixed up memories/visions of what’s happening. It’ll emphasize his mental degradation more imo. I will agree it felt a tiny bit rushed and they tried to cram a lot of things in these 2 chapters. I counted 5 maybe 6 different timelines. All can be seen with each dog in the snacks and graffiti. Still a masterpiece and squares best work in the last 10 years for sure.
5 or 6 timelines? That's WAAAY too many. How do they expect ANYONE not to get lost with that mess, KNOWING FULL WELL they're just going to introduce more of them in the final game. 3 is pushing it. 5 or 6? That's just absurd. If thats really the case then they lost me. I LOVED this game up until the whispers were a constant. The impact/emotion of Aeriths "death" was GREATLY diluted due to all the timeline bullshit, which baffled everyone in the worst way. And im sorry, bur Zachs presence as a playable character is a terrible decision....it totally undermines the end of his own game and just reeks of fan service. And plz just leave all these characters that don't belong in FF7 out....who the hell is Glenn anyway and why the hell is he in this story. Square needs to realize that probably the majority of players didn't watch or care about advent children, read that smile book they did and whatever else they came out with to milk the golden cow. They bought the game for FF7 and couldn't care less about the other stuff.
@@dylangoff2113 if you didn’t notice the timelines don’t worry about it. They ended as fast as they were shown. For example theres the beagle timeline (main) and the terrier timeline (zack verse) then when zack is deciding to go save biggs or to go to shinra on his bike 2 other time lines happen. A pug timeline (biggs gets killed end of that TL) . zack at shinra is beagle TL i believe. Then theres a shiba TL (zack at church and seph throws him in portal). This zack is presumed to be the one that fights with cloud because he comes out of a portal. There is also another timeline (the aerith and cloud date in sector 5) this one ends when she pushes cloud through portal.
