    You think it’s blowing your mind in 2024, imagine dropping the needle on it in June of 1967… Nothing like it before.. it went from Rubber Soul in 1965 to Revolver in 1966 and then this spun the music world on its head… in 1967.

    Sergeant Peppers was released on Friday, Jimi Hendrix gave a show on Saturday of the same week, with all the London Rockstars in attendance, including John, Paul, George and Ringo and Eric Clapton and several others. He opened the show with Sergeant Pepper’s lonely hearts club band, which had only been out for 24 hours. Paul McCartney said that it was stunning to hear Jimmy play their song that had just been released.

    Considered by many as the greatest album of all time. The evolution/revolution of the Beatles started with a few songs in Rubber Soul, many more in Revolver album, and then it came into fruition fully with this one. Everyone at the time fell over. Roger Waters of a newly created Pink Floyd was driving when he heard this and said he almost drove off the road. There is no "Dark Side of the Moon" without Sgt. Pepper, no Close to the Edge by Yes, none of those kinds of things. With The Beatles, as one Professor of Musicology from Oxford (I believe it was) said, the popular music was transformed from "ritualistic dance music into art". Absolutely. They had sounds in their heads and invented ways of getting them together on those multitrack tape machines (tape!), and the record company could not do a damned thing about it. Because they were the effing BEATLES and they ruled the music world.

    The Sgt. Pepper concept was all Paul's. Funny story behind it you can look up. The rest of the band wasn't really sure about the idea of this fictional band they had created, but they all contributed greatly to the record. Ringo got to sing a song, George brought Indian music into the fold, and perhaps John's best work ever with "A Day In The Life".

    • @or529
      @or529 Месяц назад

      No, Paul wasn't the lead guitarist for the Beatles. That went to George Harrison, who was much better guitarist than Paul. Even though Paul lays claim to many Beatles accomplishments, only after John and George's deaths.

    • @-R.Gray-
      @-R.Gray- Месяц назад

      @@or529 Do some research. Start with the most obvious one. It's common knowledge that Paul played the guitar solo on George's song "Taxman" - something that disappointed me 45 years ago. Look up songs on The Beatles Bible site, or just Google "Who played the guitar solo on "Taxman", and you will find Harrison himself talking about it. The next most obvious one is that part of the song "The End" on Abbey Road, where they each play three 2 bar solos - in the order of Paul, George, and John. Then there are articles in guitar magazines like Guitar World's "Paul McCartney's 6 Best Guitar Solos With The Beatles". Look up any song on The Beatles Bible site, and they give the recording details, song backgrounds, and things that the Beatles, George Martin, or the engineers present have said about the songs in interviews. For example, after Harrison wasn't having any luck nailing the "Taxman" solo, it was George Martin's suggestion that Paul have a try. Why would Harrison and everybody else present lie about it ? There are also some Harrison solos on other people's albums I didn't know about years ago - like the slide solo on Alvin Lee's song "The Bluest Blue".

    To quote Sir Paul from this song: "It's wonderful to be here. It's certainly a thrill."
    Great (and funny, lol!) reaction, guys, to the first sweet tune of this marvel-filled album! "carnival" is a great word for it, as you'll see on, say, "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite"! Speaking of "medleys,", as with the first two songs, it's advisable to let the last two songs ("Reprise"/"A day in the life" melt into each other as well.

    Ahhh, finally. Thank you . . . You probably have, but it must be listened to as a whole. It's tough to break it up much like the next Beatles album, the White Album.

    The production and sonic experience were a step change. Notice it sounds far more contemporary than previous albums, that's because it was the first full album to really sound this way (i.e. the way most pop/rock has sounded ever since). Difficult to appreciate what it was like to experience in 1967. The rudimentary Rock and Roll sounds of Elvis etc were only just 10 years old at that point.

    I listened to this album so much I wore it out & had to buy another. It was an industry changing effort. You gotta listen to the rest of it as it was released.

    This known as the first concept album , though John Lennon didn’t think it was . The idea was to create a fictitious band and that way the Beatles would be free to experiment and make music without pressure . The best song is A Day In the Life which redefined what a pop song could be … this is an amazing album a mix of music styles and psychedelia i hope you love it as much as i do
