I live in a rural area. Access to physical therapist is limited and since driving is not recommended post op, can I achieve my range of motion with these exercises, as well with-an under desk cycle, RICE: icing and tens machine for pain control. I know that window of opportunity to get my ROM is narrow. I see the pre op assessment physio next week I will also ask them.
These exercises and what you described will definitely be helpful. Is access to physical therapy may be in issue, I recommend talking with your healthcare team about home health services and / or virtual physical therapy services to help you through your rehab after surgery.
After tkr can we do sit to stand wouldn't it be hard or painful on my week knees Please let me know as I am tkr patient 2 years back done on 2021 November on my right knee Thank you doctor
You can do sit to stands after knee replacement surgery. You may have some weakness or pain that makes this difficult to perform. Some options in this case including performing from a higher chair / surface and using your arms to assist.
I had LTKR 48 hours ago. I can do heel pumps and tighten my gluts and quads. I’m walking 5 min every hour. Can press my knee down to straighten. But there is no way I can flex it like you are demonstrating. It’s way too swollen.
That's ok and normal! You will have much less range of motion in the knee early after surgery. This motion will come back slowing with time and consistency with the exercises. For the clamshells and bridges, you can modify so your knee is not bent as far and still get the benefits of the exercise. Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much TKR schedule April the 1st 2024.
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching and best wishes with your upcoming surgery!
