- Lunacid is a love letter to FromSoftware’s classic King’s Field series as well as the first-person dungeon crawlers of old. Despite its early access state, Lunacid shows an insane amount of promise with its haunting atmosphere and satisfying sense of discovery and just might impress even those who, like myself, have never played a single King’s Field game in their life.

I really wish some developers would just make an old school like game with graphics like this so more memory can be used to add content to the game. Like just focus on making a massive game. Just imagine how big a game could be if it was the file size of modern games but has old graphics. I know that's just not practical but it would be glorious.
Having put a few hours into Lunacid now after being intrigued by the Kingsfield atmosphere; I think the biggest difference is "purpose" and " direction". In the Kingsfield games even when wandering around it all feels purposefull, like you are working towards something. The biggest pitfall for Lunacid is that it feels like you wander around aimlessly and aren't even guided. I managed to stumble into and through pretty much every zone in the game without realizing. Never did it really feel like I had a purpose anywhere except walk around in the very samey areas. I love the atmosphere, but this game needs help from someone who is good with gameflow and level design, then this game would be really banger since they nailed the looks, sounds and feel and it is coded decently.
Agreed, it was difficult to get any sense of direction with the game without using outside sources for reference. I recall accidentally falling into the tomb area and being stuck for hours without any idea if I was on the right path to progress further through the game.
Very well put together video as always. Having experience in video editing myself it's very clear you try hard to make professional content that's heavy on scripting and editing. It takes time but I think it makes for the best videos and you do it really well! Lunacid looks like a really atmospheric game and even though I'm more of a fan of linear action games, I think its great that a market still exist for this retro styled throwback games.

Oh my god im so glad this game is getting videos. I played lunacid the first day it was playable and have replayed it every single time there was an update. This game is absolute perfection. Its a beautiful love letter to kingsfield and the developer kira has put so much love and detail into this game. The music is amazing and the game is just all too fun. And for those who find the secret of the tape it leaves such a heartwarming wonderful message and lesson.
It’s absolutely a special game that I hope gets more attention as it approaches full release!
@@Jonny-Bueno yeah same, the developer Kira has been working hard and put a lot of love into the game and its so wondeful. I actually just replayed it again the other day to do a vampire class run(hardest run ever) kira even put so much detail that vampires cant swim without taking damage due to the legend of the fact vampires cant cross running water so i found out painfully after going after the flame sword in the sewers. And the fact the game has actual time based stuff like the one in the forest during spring time. Its the little details like that that really get me on a game and sell it for me.
This game starts with an amazing atmosphere, but it doesn't take long before you realize you have allies (I expected a solitary and gloomy experience), you can be easily overpowered and later scenarios are not as spooky as the beginning. I think they have a winning formula, and i hope I see new games like this, but I hope they make longer games in this genre with a more balanced combat as well.

This is one of the games that I'm temped to break my personal guideline of not playing early access games on. I'm too casul to deal with King's Field itself.
It ranks high among the early access games I’ve played this year so far. Definitely recommend it.

Is this game still in development? The last update was in April 14th, 4 months ago.
I believe so, it’s developed by a single person so updates, aside from bug fixes, seem to take a while. There’s been a gap of a few months between some of the bigger updates in the past so I’d like to think the dev is cooking up something big.

It's a little over a year old at this point I believe. Still in early access though.
Well good news, the full release is planned for Halloween

the atmosphere of the game was great, until I saw the demon loli whose design didn't fit at all lmao
This game is boring and unfinished. It has a good soundtrack and thats it.

Kira said they don't want boss fights to be the major foucs of the game. So that isn't Likley
