Quick comment on this one. Apparently, capacitors have polarity and I seem to have randomly installed this one correctly. (I just rechecked it.) If you try this, make sure you get the correct side of the cap hooked to the correct side of the solar cell. Good luck!
My experience with Davis hasn't been as good as it used to be. I've also noticed that their quality has decreased here lately. Not to mention, replacement parts aren't cheap either. It's kind of like a newer Mercedes, when it works, it's dead-on accurate and perfect. But when something breaks, you're in for a surprise! So I purchased a AcuRite 5-in-1 station from Lowe's for $109, and I've been very impressed with it! It actually connects to Weather Underground wirelessly! You don't have to worry about spending over $100 on a serial connector, and having to fiddle with them. Sure, it might not be dead-on accurate with the readings, but it serves it's purpose! Not sure how well it'll hold up, time will tell I guess. If it breaks, parts are pretty cheap. If it's broken beyond repair, I'll try the Ambient Weather ones, because they seem pretty good too.
Howdy! I know nothing about these folks, but they do seem to stock some parts for the vantage vue. weatherspares.co.uk/collections/davis-instruments-spare-parts/products/509 I searched davis vantage vue parts uk to find them. Good luck!
Howdy! The cap I used for this video was a 10F. It didn't really work though. I made another video showing the battery eliminator I used to get it to work. ruclips.net/video/sisoqY0100c/видео.html

Potted in goo...can't wait for part two. I hate when you wanna fix it, have the ability to fix it but goo stops you. Lmao. Thanks Aaron.
It seems to be working but will take a while to know if my cap hack works as the new battery needs some time to die. Thanks!
As of this morning, 1/25/21, so far so good. The battery has not died yet.
