Great video! My solar panel looks like yours before replacing, I will need to replace it soon. I know it still works as the transmitter sends all data during the day, but at night I have to rely on the 3V battery. My capacitor has been lost for some time now.

My Davi’s station has been running since 2005. The super capacitor failed leaking and I replaced it a couple of times. The humidity/temp sensor failed a few years back and annoyingly the new one does not interface with the older style electronics so I had to replace the transmitter board. But it continues to perform well. Well made Davis!

Isn’t it nice to have a high end American made weather instrument that still supplies replacement parts? Companies like Davis are being pushed out by Chinese companies that sell absolute garbage. You get what you pay for!

I just tried to remove replace the antenna on a new housing and failed. The antenna wiring is too small for my skills so Now I will have to replace the whole sensor box as you did. Im really dissapointed that davis didn't use a simple sma connector mounted antenna.

At least you didn't have to replace the motherboard!

Pretty cool. There's no substitute for the DIY skills you develop by doing this stuff and seeing for yourself how they are put together. Definitely, kudos.
But I will say, when I sent my 10 year old station to Davis, they replaced darn near every component for a LOT less than buying a new unit. I was amazed at how spiffy it looked on return. Davis has a newer shape for the rain gauge funnel, it's got a "wasp" waist on it. My understanding was that the anemometer senses direction by aiming the solar panel due south, which points the anemometer due north. Well at least that's how my instructions said to do it.
As I said in my post on your other video, I am limited by my availability of a suitable mounting site for the station. Being on top on my high and steep roof is sure great for the wind...and about nothing else.
When I was 20 years younger, I got up on this roof and first installed the station (back then, a Vantage Vue). Now, alas, I have no business being up there. I have to hire a "younger" guy. Anyway, fun to watch your video.

@@jsteinberg48 Did you just ship the board in, or the whole unit?
      How much was shipping?
Who did you contact at Davis?

@@OldSoulMillennial$26 for 2 day. Far less for ground. Call the tech support line not order line.
