For your IKEA warranty you also want to scan and save your receipt to a thumb drive or backed up hard drive as the thermal paper will fade after a couple of years and if the scanner can't read the bar code or the coworker can't read the order number, you won't be able to use the warranty.

Never again! We placed a $5,000 order at the Ikea in New Haven CT and they screwed it all up. As soon as we paid we were told half the cabinets and other parts were not available. A month later and we received 3 deliveries (which we had to pay each time). The last one came today and we were missing 15 items out of over 100. Driver would not take responsibility. Ikea customer service crated a list for us to go to another state (NJ) to pick them up. Got their (2.5 hours away) and they said they did not know what we were talking about. Tried calling the service number and they put us on hold several times, then hung up. NEVER AGAIN!
That's pretty unfortunate. I hate hearing these things, but it's also good to know how individual stores are performing. It's important not to judge the entire company though on one store or experience. But I wouldn't shop there again either if that was my experience.
Sorry you went through this I am from CT and I did my pantry room 8x8 feet for $2500 with counter top and I love them. They don’t feel cheap at all. I went with ENHET
Well? Please let us know your opinion on which is better. I would really appreciate it. Thinking of going with IKEA but some people say that Kraftmaid cabinets are better. I'm clueless. TIA
I LOVED my IKEA kitchen. We just moved into a new house and will do the kitchen with IKEA again. I used Inspired kitchen Designs to help me design and plan the floor plan.
Excellent video !! Especially because you included Canada !! Thank you very much for that !! Your voice is made for this type of work and you are great at explaining the necessary details. Thank you again ! Julie Ontario, Canada
Had the older Ikea (Akurum) cabinets for 10 years before we sold. Performed flawlessly despite having endured leaky pipes, etc. Recently did our new kitchen also with Ikea's Sektion. I have 3 Ikea stores within an hour drive from home. That plus cost advantage, euro frameless design and abundance of options and customization, choice was easy. And as a pleasant surprise, all cabinet boxes and doors were made in New Jersey.
Thank you for the this very helpful video. I considered both stores, price compared, read reviews, and decided IKEA was definitely the better option. Unfortunately, IKEA has not been keeping cabinets in stock for months. So, I started looking at local cabinet suppliers. I found a company called DL Cabinetry that offers better quality plywood RTA cabinets for IKEA prices. It was a no-brainer. I had to compromise with the ever popular white shaker style doors instead of the Ash slab style doors I originally wanted, but the better quality for similar price is worth the compromise.
We just received our new IKEA kitchen, 225 boxes. Everything was there, not one item missing. We got 4 bids and the were all unaffordable. We had 5 sessions, free of charge wit IKEA kitchen planner. We ordered while they had their spring sale and saved a boat load of money. We are very happy with the IKEA choice we made.
Maribel, it just finished. Select doors, among them Ringhulz which we ordered were 15% off. Quartz also on sale. Additional 5% off with family membership which is free. They will probably have another sales event later on in the year, but that is just my guess, I don’t know that for sure. Supply chain issues seem to have eased up more.
We did ikea kitchen in Canada 2015, 2 shipments, everything arrived and the kitchen turned out great. Happy to see it wasn't just us happy with sektion
I keep seeing those dining chairs in the background. And think I have the same SuperStore chairs from Halifax that I bought 13 years ago. They're still awesome.
My father bought custom kitchen from the local Amish. Solid wood, fairly much, tounge and grove 3/4" sold construction. So, the box store wanted $8,000, where as they wanted $10,000. The difference in quality is shocking. The kitchen will stand for 50 years.
@@jenniferb.3019 Ohio. Custom kitchen companies are everywhere. Even an old brother in law in NJ/PA made custom cabinets (on the cheap) for convenience stores.
Garbage vs trash. Which is better? Great video. As a custom cabinet maker, I can't stand either. Though, for a DIYer upgrading their home on a budget, go IKEA. Best bang for your buck.
Thank you for the response from a cabinet maker . As you mentioned diyer I am renovating my whole house by myself flooring , crown molding, lighting , paint , doors So an a single guy I just can not afford custom cabinets. I am a modest guy and do not need high end cabinets. I think I’m go in by to go with one of the RTA cabinet dealers online . Any suggestions?

Thanks for the comparison. Where do you put Lowes in the comparison? What's your opinion on DIY IKEA kitchen cabinets vs having them install? Is it worth the savings?
Hi Dana. I plan on comparing Lowes with the others in the future. But from my experience, they are pretty similar to HD. I find most big box stores are pretty similar. With IKEA, having them install is a great idea. It does cost a bit, but worth it I think.
Do not buy Lowes cabinet not even their luxury line. It will take you several tries to get right, replace or install. Do not waste your monies you will be disapointed.
We have a 15 yr old semi custom HD kitchen. They've replaced doors, hinges, etc for us NO problem over the years. No receipt necessary. Our entire kitchen is in their system.
If you're close to the border it could be advantageous to shop both countries. I live 3 hours from Toronto. A trip to St Catharines for Ikea (closest one) with a stop at Home Depot sounds like a good idea.
I'm just here to share my friend in Canada got a home depot kitchen and it has been a nightmare. Customer service has been horrible. 2 years in and she hasn't had a fully done functioning kitchen yet (between cabinet doors falling off, counter cracking, sink falling out, dishwasher breaking etc). I did an ikea kitchen at the same time in our previous house and we did it all ourselves on the cheap and it was done. For comparison: ours cost 6k cad, hers was 14k cad range. We have little kids so I didn't want to spend too much and we were very happy with it. Super easy to install. I'm not sure what range she got but it was installed for her. 😳 maybe she's an outlier though. We compared ikea rta to home depot rta and the quality was night and day. Home depot rta felt cheap and flimsy and it just seemed like the kind of thing my kids would destroy immediately. Now we moved so we only operated in our ikea kitchen for a year and a half but it was great. Only problems were my own silly design mistakes🤣🙈. That's why I'm here.... hopefully willl not repeat on my current kitchen. Probably just make new different mistakes...😳🤪
Good to know. As far as RTA goes, I don't think you can beat IKEA. They just have a really good product and all the components are all made to work together. On the topic of mistakes though, I can tell you, there are lots of those to be made. lol
Thanks for the info. I was going to try the EUROSTYLE planner to see the difference with the IKEA plans I've already made, however the EUROSTYLE planner requires Adobe Flash, which is no longer supported by most browsers... a definitely FAIL on their part, they will need to upgrade...
Yeah, I believe they are working on that now, upgrading their planner. They have a great opportunity to get some market share by having an online planner. Feel free to reach out if you need some assistance with the layout. mailchi.mp/71b75dfbbb0d/how-to-measure-a-kitchen That form gets you started. Great video-- thanks! I always loved the ikea style BUT i also am wondering whether ikea makes the taller cabs i see at HD and lowes-- the 30" IKEA cab is pretty short, lowes and HD is 35" standard height... and I cant bend much anymore... ? Pls let me know...
Not familiar with IKEA cabinets, but I do know that all the Home Depot stores in my area (Maryland, USA) offer the American Woodmark line of semi-custom cabinets (not familiar with THD RTA kitchen cabinets; only knew about the stock cabinets). The cabinets in the American Woodmark line can be ordered in MDF, Thermofoil, or APC (all plywood construction). Cabinet faces are HDF for painted cabinets in this line. The Home Depot kitchen designer tried to push me to buy those stock Hampton Bay cabinets. I promptly rejected them since those cabinets reminded me of the ones that I was trying to get rid of through the kitchen renovation.
Hey! Thanks for the info! I may do a video dedicated to HD's better quality products. I'm not familiar with the American Woodmark line, as they sell a different product here in Canada. However, the semi-custom cabinets they do offer tend to be a much better quality. Plywood construction is a plus.
LDSW - I had HDepot come out & measure my kitchen last week & now considering American Woodmark cabinets. Are you pleased the American Woodmark cabinets? I'm exactly the same, my existing cabinets are the same junk as stocked Hampton Bay 🙂 - I don't want high-end cabinets (this is a summer rental) but I don't want cabinets that are peeling laminate in a year.
In my previous home, I renovated the kitchen with American Woodmark cabinets. I enjoyed those cabinets for about seven years before I moved. The kitchen was done in 2005, and recently, the house was on the market again and guess what! The cabinets were still in place looking beautiful. At the time, American Woodmark had hickory cabinets and I chose lightly stained ones. I really enjoyed the quality, and now that I have to have a new kitchen (plumbing leak ruined my in-place kitchen), I am considering them again if I can get my insurance company to cooperate!
@@orangesun3030 Ten years ago our condo building had a fire. They gutted and rebuilt and we could pick and upgrade our kitchens, bathrooms and general furnishings like mouldings etc. My husband being a contractor redesigned the kitchen and bathroom to make them more functional and I chose to finally get the kitchen of my dreams - oak cupboards and granite countertops and they installed a natural gas line, so I cook with natural gas. I absolutely LOVE it.
IKEA in Canada is only in big centres, like Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal. if you don't live in those areas, you need to have delivery, which adds a LOT of money to your total cost (Hubby and I are looking at redoing our kitchen, and to get the stuff shipped to a city 3 hours away was several hundred dollars).. so on top of all that shipping, we'd still have to get it shipped to our town, which would probably be estimated at another few hundred dollars.....
Great info! I chose Home Depot in Canada, but wasn’t aware their cabinets were considered custom. I did not go with RTA as didn’t want the additional hassle of assembling myself. You can add fillers at places, maybe that’s what you mean by custom? I’m still learning.
I used the word "custom", but it's really not the right term. There is an element of customization to what they do. I think the best description is there are more options. With an RTA line, you get what you get. Not many options in terms of sizing. I'm still learning too! I spent my years in a truly custom cabinet environment, meaning if you can draw it on paper, we can make it.
Hi Joseph. Thanks so much for watching. I have purchased Triangle kitchens for my last three homes and have sold them for almost 20 years as a dealer. Very good quality in both their construction and finish. They use all Blum hardware.
I used Home Depot for refacing my kitchen cabinets. Two pieces were already bubbling when we took the doors out of the boxes & neither HD or the manufacturer would do anything about that. So I was forced to buy the replacement pieces & hope for the best. Within 6 months most of the doors & draws had cracked & lifted, I was seriously so pissed ( it wasn’t cheap ). Never will I use thermafoil ever again & unfortunately I think the white cabinets at IKEA are foil.😕
That sounds brutal. Thermo can be tricky. There are some good quality ones out there, but de-lamination is always a threat. But bubbling out of the box is next level. Hopefully you got it sorted out.
The problems with Home Depot cabinets are well documented. Just read reviews on the internet, and you will see it's littered with complaints just like yours. The biggest issue besides the quality, is that no one takes responsibility. They use a third party, which you don't know, to install a sup-par product, and when something does go wrong, they point the fingers at each other with no one stepping up. Most big box stores are the same. If the cabinets were for my house, you couldn't pay me enough to go to those places. I recommend doing your homework and finding a place that just does kitchens. The cost isn't that much of a difference, you will have a real designer, not someone who is an hourly employee, the quality is far better, and the experience and piece of mind you get are worth every penny. I love Mark's videos, and may hire him, but it is a little concerning that he is mentioning these places for kitchen cabinets. I agree Ikea markets exceptionally well and makes everything look great, but the quality of their products is something I would put in a kid's room, a dorm, or a young person just starting out. Their kitchens may be better. I'm not sure. Sorry you had to go through this experience. Just know you're not alone.
I went to ikea and Home Depot but ikea doesn’t do much for customized kitchen. Just out of the box. Home Depot has a free concierge service where they come to your house and measure it.
Visiting the IKEA store while in KC a couple years ago is what inspired us to remodel our kitchen. The layout of of one of the vignettes was really close to what our space was like. But…I thought the IKEA cabinets felt a little flimsy. So we tried to source semi custom cabinets through our local Menards, but while the young person that was helping us refine our design was really good using the CAD tool, he didn’t know all the trim pieces and accessories that make it a finished job. So we ended up at a local custom cabinet reseller who started with our design, but also made suggestions on how to improve it and could anticipate all the stuff we’d need, such as wider stiles where a cabinet met a wall, etc. cost a bit more, but she nailed it.
She definitely had some experience. There are a lot of little things that go into a finished kitchen that can be easily overlooked. Thanks for the comment!
@@stevenr7272 we went with Koch cabinets, i believe they are built in Kansas somewhere. The local designer was Annie Moyer in Omaha at the Cabinet Factory Outlet. If you go to the Koch website, they show some of her projects. They are solid maple doors, face frames and drawers, plywood boxes and shelves, soft close drawers and doors.
Given the IKEA is basically completely out of cabinets and has no estimation for being back in stock, what would you recommend? How difficult is it to use IKEA fronts with non-Ikea cabinets?
I'd say it is possible but challenging. If the wall cabinets were all 30" high, no wall or base corners, and no pantry unit, you may have a chance. Ikea's odd sizes makes it difficult to use with any other competitors box. Maybe this is by design. Who knows how long Ikea's shortage is going to last? It really throws a kink into things for a lot of people. If you're unable to wait for their stock, I would consider sourcing the kitchen from somewhere else. There are lots of comparable RTA options around, both online and from other big box stores. I hope that helps.
My wife and I designed a section of our kitchen with the Ikea planning tool and added the list to our cart every week or so. After about 6 months of waiting for all the cabinets to be available we placed the order (in July), they should arrive tomorrow. If you are wanting to go with Ikea, definitely just design it and plan on waiting a bit.
I'm on the countertop field for 2 decades. Saw it all, refaced cabinets and high-end customs. Some of today's asian RTA's finish beats all big brands from the big stores any day. Just installed a kitchen on a 40K kraftmaid. The painted shaker was pathetic, the stained island was nice.
Hi Tina. I haven't as of yet. There is no Lowes where I live, so it's challenging to give a really good review without actually seeing the product. I may try in the future to do it strictly via their website, but we'll see. Thanks for asking!
I haven't personally ordered countertop from them, however, there wouldn't be a reason for not doing that. All the countertops are cut or fabricated by a subcontractor.
Hi! I love your content. I’m doing a kitchen remodel and I’m currently pricing cabinets. I have an ikea quote but I wonder if we can have them painted? I want our island to be forest green.

Thanks this is a big help! I am in Canada and have installed multiple IKEA kitchens before but I did not know about the Eurostyle options. Since I live on Vancouver island getting to IKEA Vancouver is a pita but I have Home Depots all around me. Also in the past IKEA kitchen ordering has always resulted in 5% of the items being on back order sometimes for months. So I end up with a 95% complete kitchen for weeks or months. I can only imagine in today's supply chaos it's only worse.
Not sure if you addressed this but as of yet you haven’t there might only be a $25 difference with price between IKEA and Home Depot but IKEA delivers everything I believe for $60 not sure about Home Depot
I had a Home Depot designer help me plan my kitchen and it took him three months to get back to me. I decided to look elsewhere. So now I’m looking at IKEA
Ouch, 3 months! That's excessive. Unfortunately you can run into that situation at big box stores sometimes. Is it a renovation or a new build? Let me know if I can help.
lol. I hear ya. Feel free to send me the measurements or picture of the space. I do professional kitchen design remotely as an online service, but I would certainly have a look and give you some ideas (no charge for that). marknamytobin@gmail.com
Wow...I thought 3 weeks in my case was a long time before I got the Home Depot corporate office involved. Everything was piped back to the store manager, and that designer was PO'd (had to get corporate involved 2x). The kitchen designer ended up quitting the job weeks before the end of my project.
@@LDSW I recently looked to see how many kitchen designer jobs were available in Florida (just for kicks). It was a couple pages of just HomeDepot positions. Seems like the turn over is pretty high.
Omg. Come to Poland, for the price of Ikea you can get good quality cabinets. Essembly is plus 10%of the purchase. Guaranty 10yrs. Maaany Producers, customised cabinets also possible. Design is Included in the price.
@@MTKDofficial We are main producers of furniture in Europe and the competition is tough especially among the cheap cabinets. It forces quality standards to be higher and higher because prices are set according to ikea level. So additional services are often free: design, transportation and essembly. There is also great choice to attract the clients. Everyone remodels specially during pandemic
Btw. Ikea's non standard cabinets make you buy their appliances because others don't fit. It limits the choice of inbuild ovens etc and generally here is cosidered as furniture for students.
@@evabuczek this is some great insight! I really appreciate you telling me this. It can be hard when you are stuck in a North American bubble to understand how things operate in other parts of the world.
That's a great question. I'd have to look around for that answer. I hope there are, but most companies are really only distributers and not manufacturers.
Home Depot has some good variety of styles but the downfall I’ve noticed mainly from covid setbacks are gonna be months out for turnaround time. The countertops was told probably 9 weeks as well. I went with IKEA partly due to that but great functionality and utilization of space. If you aren’t big on their fronts like he says, they have several other companies that work with Ikea frames.
Good question. I've never had an issue with 12". I like the idea of 15" but not sure if it's the best or not. Hard to say. I'll say 12" but that could change.
I used the stock unfinished HD cabinets purely because of budget constraints. I ended up making my own shaker style doors. After the investment cost of tools and materials, I kick myself for not getting the Ikea cabinets.
I love that you took on such a challenge. But was thinking, with those new tools I’d imagine you also gained a tad bit more experience & confidence to your skill,, which is priceless. So hey Bravo to you!
@@terristt Hahaha, funny you mentioned, I've since used that experience to replace all of my interior doors with two panel slabs. Once you get past the mindset that something is too difficult, you can do anything.
This is pretty outdated. Home Depot now carries the American Woodmark line. It has a limited lifetime warranty - Their warranty starts from the day your order delivers and runs for as long as you own your home. They also carry Thomasville.
Yes. The woman said she knew it all. She did not. Instead of going to Home Depot I tell ppl to go to custom cabinet maker. Home Depot was a crazy choice and one I’m sorry for. See the small drawer below the 1,500$ microwave drawer. Wasted space, like this in several places. We paid them over 700$ to make two huge pantry units two inches smaller. They came too big. Will be over 9 months waiting for the correct ones. Had to fire installers. They don’t try to do the install when you need them to. Professional cabinet maker, all day everyday forever. Oh yeah. We spent about 4 thousand for all the cabinets and new appliances and quartz countertops. ( install is still going on…….
Some of mine in pantry are 22 inches deep just right. If I made the upper cabs deep in kitchen it obstructed the door opening size of the corner cab. Had to keep them at standard.
Wow. Sorry your experience has been less than stellar so far. I am a big proponent of custom as well. Most of my 20 year career was dealing custom kitchens. This video of course is only comparing two RTA lines that most are familiar with and it is always great to hear someones personal experience with them. Thanks for commenting.
I'm currently remodeling my kitchen. I wouldn't go with either of those. Ikea furniture is super low quality, I had a few pieces of their furniture when I was in my early 20's getting started but wouldn't use them for cabinets in my home. They are great at marketing cheap junk. I went to home depot to get a quote for semi-custom cabinets it took forever to get an appointment, the lady took weeks to design it. Everything was really slow and she didn't design it very well. Customer service was poor. I ended up using a dedicated kitchen store with a real designer, with semi-custom cabinets that looked better, were higher quality build, they were on sale so I saved thousands compared to home depot and got an overall better design that suited my needs. These cabinets also have a lifetime warranty. The lady was always a phone call away and took ownership, and did much better work. I'd stay away from those big box stores.
It is really store dependent I think (for service). I seen both ends of the spectrum. But can't argue on the quality issue. However, this video is a comment on RTA cabinets only. Maybe a deeper dive of the other offerings out there would help to balance. I really appreciate your comment!
@@MTKDofficial OK guess I didn't realize you were only talking about RTA cabinets. Yea, you should do a video going deep into semi-custom as well. When I requested an appointment with Home depot I wasn't given an option to even go to a store in person, I talked to someone in another state over zoom, this was in December 2022. I'm in Chicago in a big city with lots of stores, I found that strange. When I went to a store in person, the designer in the store said they weren't able to pull up my information either. It's all on the computer, they should be able to access it. I really appreciate your videos. I used the information from the sinks videos to choose a large single farm sink, those deep videos were really helpful! And also your series on counters was very helpful, and I chose Cambria berwyn quartz. Getting it Thursday, I'm excited!
Ikea will not ship your cabinets to a store for pickup. If you are not within their select delivery area their cabinets are essentially impossible to get. Ask me how I know....
I live in the UK and think you will find that the 25 year warranty only applies if IKEA installed your kitchen. Do it your self and they will claim it was not installed to IKEA spec
@@MTKDofficial thanks for the reply I installed kitchens for a living before I retired and this was normal practice in all kitchen companies. I must note that the sink base was never guaranteed against water damage
Hi , you are not correct regarding Home Depot warranty on cabinets. Hampton Bay frameless cabinet (stock cabinets) are lifetime warranty. Hampton Bay framed cabinets are the 5 year warranty. If you are going to discuss this on your channel at least try to give accurate information please.
Hey Kimberly. Thanks for the info. I’ll check it out for sure. From what I found on the U.S site it said 90 days. But I’ve been wrong before lol. Appreciate it.
Just to clarify, I am commenting on the RTA cabinets only. The Hampton Bay RTA line is frameless and has a 5 year warranty. The Cambridge line is 90 days. I understand that they have other products with better warranties, but this was only about these RTA lines, as I'm trying to compare to IKEA.
If I use Ikea cabinets, I gonna have a hard time when selling my house. Having Ikea is worse than having nothing. However, it is hard to tell if a cabinet is from HomeDepot.
I got mine at Home Depot. You will never know. The deal at Home Depot is don’t try to be on a budget. I had no budget. I love these cabinets, but I could have spent less money and looked the same but a much easier time if I had gone with the prof. Cab. Maker. My cab are slab doors full overlay cherry wood. Many are custom size, that’s a lot extra at Home Depot. They are contemporary and will never be outdated. Home Depot employees don’t care about you or Home Depot. Get a professional to do your kitchen, or just sell. That is easy. Home Depot is hard if you care what it ends up looking like. Like a small four inch deep drawer below a 1,500$ appliance. A eight inch deep would fit there.but the HDepot woman said there was nobody better or as smart as her. Wish I could post a photo. I’m sucking it up
about the "odd" size of cabinettes , isn´t it possible thjat the obvious reason of IKEA being swedish that ikea have the swedish standards on their cabinettes? and thats why it becomes odd in the US bc here in sweden they are the right size :)
Well put. I certainly didn't mean any offence by saying odd. Only odd to me and the standard sizes I'm used to. Which very well may be odd as well. The more I work with IKEA cabinets, the more I see the benefit in there sizing options. Might be worth making an updated video about that. Appreciate the comment!
@@MTKDofficial i didn't mean anything either :) just wanted to point out that bc ikea is swedish maybe they use swedish standard even in the us :) maybe my comment came across a little to harsh , so no ofense taken :)
Haha. Well in regards to RTA Cabinets, I think the title is ok. Certainly not a quality comparison to custom cabinets. That would make a great video however...
Haha. Another eyebrow comment. For some reason when I shot this the exposure was too high. So, in trying to adjust it the lighter hairs on my eyebrows disappeared. My wife roars at this video! Oh well...
Not exactly. Their manufacturers use a variety of materials. Cabinet grade particle core, reclaimed wood material and some HDF. To say "just mdf" is false.
ROFL - IKEA has weird sizes??! Yeap, 20, 30, 40, 60, 80cm for base cabinets, just like Siematic, Bulthaup, Team 7, Boffi or any other European kitchen (except UK). I love my IKEA kitchen ;-)
Sorry, only weird in comparison to NA kitchen standards. Not "weird" as a general statement. I quite like the possibilities IKEA offers in comparison to everything else in my neck of the woods.
Yeah sometimes it takes a few layout options to get it right. Normally IKEA have very qualified designers. If you get really stuck and need help, feel free to reach out mailchi.mp/1baf2bf5b7b7/the-dream-package
Ikea > Home depot, always. If you have a problem with your Ikea kitchen, you just literally walk into Ikea and they will fix the issue. Home depot? Good luck! You'll probably have to hire someone.
For your IKEA warranty you also want to scan and save your receipt to a thumb drive or backed up hard drive as the thermal paper will fade after a couple of years and if the scanner can't read the bar code or the coworker can't read the order number, you won't be able to use the warranty.

That's pretty unfortunate. I hate hearing these things, but it's also good to know how individual stores are performing. It's important not to judge the entire company though on one store or experience. But I wouldn't shop there again either if that was my experience.

You can't go wrong with plywood. Good choice. The IKEA shortage doesn't seem to be letting up.
Interesting! I also strongly prefer slab doors, is there a reason why they can only do other styles?
@@Nse204 slab door styles can be found from major retailers. I think it's just a less popular choice in the U.S.

Awesome! That's a lot of boxes! Hope it turns out great!
When was their spring sale? 😮

Hey! Thank you for watching and letting me know!
My father bought custom kitchen from the local Amish. Solid wood, fairly much, tounge and grove 3/4" sold construction. So, the box store wanted $8,000, where as they wanted $10,000. The difference in quality is shocking. The kitchen will stand for 50 years.
Yeah definitely a massive difference between custom and any RTA brand.
What state did this happen in? Can anyone do this?

Avoid Lowes. They can’t handle even simple appliance orders anymore. Read the reviews. People hate them.
We have a 15 yr old semi custom HD kitchen. They've replaced doors, hinges, etc for us NO problem over the years. No receipt necessary. Our entire kitchen is in their system.
Sweet! Yeah semi-custom is a whole other ball game for sure. Super glad to hear that they took care of you!

LOL, so true… IKEA kitchen dept is like a Disney wonderland, if one is a kitchen fan. :-)
That is exactly what it is like! They should charge admission ha
How do you feel about solid oak cupboards and cabinets?
Oak is making a pretty big come back in the cabinet world. I have no issue with oak. I think it looks beautiful.

What do you think about hasket Diomend cabinet ??
IKEA in Canada is only in big centres, like Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal. if you don't live in those areas, you need to have delivery, which adds a LOT of money to your total cost (Hubby and I are looking at redoing our kitchen, and to get the stuff shipped to a city 3 hours away was several hundred dollars).. so on top of all that shipping, we'd still have to get it shipped to our town, which would probably be estimated at another few hundred dollars.....
Good point. That's how it is pretty much everywhere. The closest IKEA to me is 5 hours.
Medicine Hat problems 😂
"The choice to purchase IKEA is pretty clear" provided there is IKEA anywhere within your state or even a close city in a nearby state.
They ship.
Great videos, thanks. Are Triangle cabinets good quality?
Hi Joseph. Thanks so much for watching. I have purchased Triangle kitchens for my last three homes and have sold them for almost 20 years as a dealer. Very good quality in both their construction and finish. They use all Blum hardware.
@@MTKDofficial Thank you.
Who did you go with? I am near KC...
Incredibly helpful thanks. 🇨🇦

RTA stands for what?
Ready To Assemble. Sorry, I should have made that more clear in this video.

I think the question is better phrased as “which are less crappy.?”
Haha. Well in regards to RTA Cabinets, I think the title is ok. Certainly not a quality comparison to custom cabinets. That would make a great video however...
@@MTKDofficial yes, it would make a great video.
I like the video but what happened to his eyebrows?
Haha. Another eyebrow comment. For some reason when I shot this the exposure was too high. So, in trying to adjust it the lighter hairs on my eyebrows disappeared. My wife roars at this video! Oh well...
25 years warranty is a scam 😅, how many stores or shop survive for 25 years?
If you are a ikea family member, they have a record of everything you have bought
IKEA makes no plywood just mdf
Not exactly. Their manufacturers use a variety of materials. Cabinet grade particle core, reclaimed wood material and some HDF. To say "just mdf" is false.
Ikea by far!!!!
I went to ikea to do the planning didn't like 2 of the layouts the came with. 🙃 I dont loose my hope in ikea.
You: trying to go to ikea

Just arrows for days.
Home depot takes paypal credit. Ikea does not. Choice has been made.
Good point!!
