Hi everyone, thanks for watching my IKEA Kitchen video. This is my 4th IKEA kitchen and I have loved all of them. I have installed all of them myself and still have never had to make a warranty claim for any reason. They are an amazing product at an entry point price. Let me know in the comments below how you feel about IKEA kitchens. - Joey Troxel.

I am sold!!! I want one so bad! I live in a mobile home and I hate the drawer space and lack of storage that is actually useable. I am mapping out the kitchen now and will be purchasing 2-4 cabinets every 2 weeks until I get my whole kitchen. Thanks for sharing!

Assume you always use Metod? wondering how durable the cabinet & counter top particulary on the sink mount area against water/moist (where we must cut a hole, expose the particle board counter top) and against the heat where we again cut a hole and mount a built in hob from your experience?
I asked ikea employee, she said there is never a warranty for water and heat damage.

@@tn9274 I have never used Metod. It is always Section. Those are the standard kitchen boxes and I just installed my 5th kitchen last weekend with them. So far, no issues. If you have water leaking in the sink base, the cabinet will absorb it and get destroyed because its just pressed wood so you want to get a rubber barrier with a lip to sit under the sink in that cabinet.

I bought an ikea kitchen because it was affordable we were going to have it installed.
It became difficult to get a contractor, so I started it myself. It was as simple as putting together bookshelves. The rail system made it so easy and you could adjust the spacing as you go.
I did it almost completely on my on. I waiting until hubby came home to help lift the two biggest upper cabinets (over the fridge and the corner one).
Loved the whole process. Totally going to install an ikea kitchen in the next house.

This has to be the best and most in depth Ikea kitchen review I've found on RUclips. Thank you. I'm in a rental, but my landlord is pretty flexible, and I'm thinking of redoing the kitchen and feel like a ikea has the best pricing. Now I'm more motivated to do the planning on the website so I can lock in the pricing, etc. Thank you!

Can confirm all of this. I've done two Ikea kitchens. My 1st kitchen was in an older condo built 1968 so the cabinet rail system is a life saver. My 2nd Ikea kitchen was a bit easier. The Ikea customization is insane. I have a chef's kitchen, basically and amazingly, for under $5,000 DIY, self install. Appliances not included. The drawer and cabinet panels will set you back as they can up the cost.

We've had an IKEA kitchen for 5 years. We love it. When we had our floors installed after the kitchen was put in, the flooring folks actually thought the cabinets were from a high end Italian manufacturer! We used the kitchen designer and had one cabinet that had to be cut and customized because we have structural beams in our mid-century modern home - but it looks fabulous. I am an avid cook and award winning baker. Love it!

#16 that I didn’t hear you mention, which is #1 for me, is the quality of their hardware and full extension drawer slides. You did mention soft close, but it’s the smoothness of operation and strength that I love.
#17 is that you can get 15” Base cabinets as well for spots that are tight and they even offer DRAWERS for the 15” bases!
I currently just have a couple of IKEA hacks in a non-IKEA kitchen, but am hoping to remodel to IKEA at some point in the near future.

Their quality has been going down over the years/reducing options, unfortunately.
The first IKEA kitchen I did for myself they were giving you the option of having solid wood doors/fronts.
I'm doing another one right now and you don't get those anymore, it's only particle board.
I'm not saying their competition is any better, but back in the day when they were offering solid wood fronts, that was a very competitive price for the higher quality items.

And my plates just fit - but not the platter, I had to find a new home for that. I guess that's from back in the day when dishes were smaller. I’m installing my fourth kitchen right now. The last two are from IKEA and I agree that the ease and price is unmatched by the first two I’ve installed. I also built benches and cabinets for my workshop from IKEA kitchen cabinets. What we have choosen t🎉o do is to buy the counter top boards from a different place in order to get the quality feeling improved since IKEA do not offer solid stone or wood boards. One thing though, the new kitchen planner tool is much worse than the old one that they changed about a year ago. I’m a bit disappointed that they changed. Was a bit of a struggle when planning this last kitchen.

I’ve had a lot of IKEA pieces over the years and most of them are still with me. I’m 70 now so they’ve lasted a long time. You may have talked me into getting an IKEA kitchen if in the next year I decide that I will replace my kitchen. But you’ve convinced me that it would be worth it even to have it installed by a contractor Because you’re telling me that at Home Depot or Lowe’s it would be double the price to purchase the same cabinets and I would still have to pay to have them be installed, which means to me that in the end, buying IKEA cabinets and having them installed will still be cheaper by several thousand dollars then purchasing particleboard cabinets from Home Depot or Lowe’s. Your kitchen looks very nice at almost 60. I hope you found the home you wanna live in and you don’t have to do any more kitchens. All I can say is if you don’t wanna spend the money again look after the things you have, it’s always worked for me. Very interesting video lots of great advice. Thanks a lot.

Never again! We placed a $5,000 order at the Ikea in New Haven CT and they screwed it all up. As soon as we paid we were told half the cabinets and other parts were not available. A month later and we received 3 deliveries (which we had to pay each time). The last one came today and we were missing 15 items out of over 100. Driver would not take responsibility. Ikea customer service crated a list for us to go to another state (NJ) to pick them up. Got their (2.5 hours away) and they said they did not know what we were talking about. Tried calling the service number and they put us on hold several times, then hung up. NEVER AGAIN!

Yes, a lot of what you mentioned is the reason I went with Ikea. The big reason for me was 12 inch cabinets compared to 15 inches, which was the biggest factor. The only thing I felt that Lowes and Home Depot had over Ikea is that their cabinets are pre assembled, but assembling the Ikea cabinets is well worth all the benefits and savings.

For best quality (plywood, not the particleboard crap) and best price - DIY. You have to pay for the tools (track saw, clamps, edgebanding, paint sprayer) but the tool cost is amortized over *other* projects you will save money on (office desks/bedroom cabinets/livingroom console media). If you work diligently, by yourself, ~8 hrs in the afternoon after work, you can build all your kitchen cabinets in 14 days +/- 3 days to finish, +/- 3 days to install. With another person (your SO), you can probably knock it out in 70% of the time.

It is from the "pre-rail" era, i.e. my first-time-DIY-kitchen-installer hubby had to use a spirit level and a drill when hanging the top cabinets on to brick walls. I live in Ireland, that soggy island on the other side of the Atlantic ocean. I might as well be living on a wet sponge as far as humidity goes. So don't worry about humidity. MY WHITE IKEA KITCHEN IS STILL ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! 👌 I still love it. 👍 ♥ 😍💕♥️💓💖🌟
      P. S. We don't have cockroaches here ... but I don't imagine they'd fancy eating man-made "wood" so you're good to go. 👍

Hi I had a quick question. I’m ordering a single cabinet to use in my sewing room and I’m needing to figure out what to do for the top when I order it and was wondering if I ordered a 30x15x30 cabinet and add a few drawers. Would the finished size still be 30x15 or would it add an inch to the front with the drawer front? Any help is appreciated thanks!

Thank you for this, I have always loved IKEA kitchens. I don’t live near an IKEA, so my hesitation is the measuring of the kitchen. Does the planner help you know how to measure accurately? I also like the deeper cabinets. Keep making these great videos.

Drop one of those doors on the floor and count the pieces. This is in no way "strong" furniture. I used to make particle board furniture at the Sauder Mfg plant. It all looks good until you use it. And drop particle board from about 5 feet, even if it lands mostly flat is breaks. This means it is the opposite of strong. If they ran real wood through their machines the price would be the same as real wood and it wouldn't have white paper glued to the surfaces as its "finish".
I'm currently removing particle board cabinets (well, actually I'm done) it took about 1/2 hour to remove and took no tools. I could just pull it off the wall because it took only a slight effort to yank them down by hand.

IKEA stinks because they changed their line so that you cannot retrofit anything. They made sure to make the boxes and doors just slightly larger so that you would have to buy a whole new kitchen rather than changing just the fronts as they used to advertise as a benefit of going with IKEA. Also, I priced them again and it’s cheaper to get carpenter built cabinets and have them professionally painted. AND, yoy don’t have to put them together yourself AND the bases not sitting on plastic stilts.

I'm happy to hear about your positive experience with IKEA kitchens. I watch a lot of tv makeover shows and am often shocked at the cost of the kitchen because they went the "custom" route. This makes no sense because often the kitchen is open to the main room and there are no walls to consider when laying out the kitchen.

I removed the old cabinets and gave them to a guy on craigslist who wanted a new kitchen for his family but couldn't afford to buy one. I just asked him to come get them with his truck and he did. I didn't destroy anything. I show that in the video so check it out.

I think IKEA cabinets are back at the top of the list. I will have to take another trip to the show room soon.

When you say you can always just call a guy if you get in over your head, is that really true? I don't know many contractors who will come in in the middle of a job.

My IKEA kitchen started peeling and cracking and splitting at the joints by about year 9. It hasn’t stopped since. So…don’t count on having an IKEA kitchen that lasts. Looking very shabby by now 33 years in. It is important to note that the depth measurements of the counter tops are shorter than American proportions. The shelves have been known to collapse in my IKEA pantry cupboard. The drawers and cupboards are shallow and drawers stick. Cheap rails on drawers and flimsy hardware are the culprit. The fake ‘Formica’ and veneers in the front of the shelves have mostly cracked and peeled off. Handles regularly loosen and fall of! If you plan on building and ‘flipping’ a house in a few years and move on, that helps you not see the deterioration over a relatively short time. If I could afford to install a new ‘conventional’ kitchen - I would! And to mention, our home was custom designed by an architect who in the name of economizing customized an IKEA kitchen. It was installed by a master cabinet maker. Would a’ coulda shoulda….

I got an Ikea kitchen when they were discontinuing the Akrum line. It was 30% off, which was great. I was told I'd be able to get replacement parts. My dog chewed a lower cabinet drawer front. I could not get a replacement, just a few months after. Eventually, I sanded the chewed area down and got a finish that matched. Other than that, I'm very happy with the kitchen. I did have a contractor install it because I needed to have the ceiling raised and a wall extended and the co-op board wants things like that done by licensed and insured contractors. I would do an Ikea kitchen again.
