Elkie Brooks, knew you when you was in Vinegar Joe with Robert Palmer, it was a live concert in a small venue in Germany during my student. You had a lovely voice, knew you would be a star, as I did of Robert with his presence. Followed you guys for years. Just found your channel and glad to see you are still performing. Keep it up! God Bless.
I did have the honor to meet Elkie and her family in real, also be at different performances, for me she is the best singer i did ever meet and it still hit me when hear a song of This GrandLady
This is of many great live tracks on the old VHS "Pearls the Video Show". I still have one but need to get a digitalsed copy..the first of many live tours I saw the magnificent Elk on when I was just 21.
The song "Nights In White Satin" was originally recorded by The Moody Blues back in 1967 which I liked. Elkie gave it a BBC Radiophonic Workshop synthesizer like kick in 1982 which was decent.
The syth player on this tour was Duncan Mackay..ex Cockney Rebel,ex !0cc and also played on Kate Bush`s first three albums .He played on Elk`s Pearl`s 2 and Minutes albums and I think he wrote or co wrote a few songs for/with Elkie too. He was great live..stand out playing on this track and Elk`s Pink Floyd`s Money cover version.
Blew me away what an amazing voice Elkie has...defiantly another woman singer that didn't get the recognition truly a natural performer x
What a voice. She never gets the recognition she deserves. Beautiful.
She's one of the most recognised and awarded jazz and blues singers in the UK....😅
Globally
Thank you for this video. For my Wife and I, this is "Our Song."
As far as I am concerned she always will. Thank you Elkie.

The Moody Blues may have sung this first. Justin Hayward and John Lodge, fantastic. Elkie takes it, owns it and makes it unforgettable.
Yes.......WOW...👌
Just WoW
Wow powerful voice.
The definitive female voice of the 80s
She did a great more modern remake of the original 60s classic.
Superb

1968
... Reminds me of Marti Webb.....both great singers..
She just destroyed a classic by Moody Blues

She took it up a level
Moody Who’s
Tone deaf robert radford
