I saw her in concert in Cardiff about 4 weeks ago. what a trooper. Her voice is still there. No compromises. She pinned the audience in their seats with its power. Catch her if you can. She is still on tour. The Long Goodbye Tour. The best gig I have been to in the past 5 years or more.
I saw Chris Rea in 1978 (Lady Mabel college) perform this song on his Whatever Happened to Benny Santini tour, where his record label had him packaged as an Elton John type songwriter, he didn't play guitar all night. A few weeks later I saw Elkie perform at Sheffield City Hall, her first set was Jazzy stuff like Pearl's a Singer, then after the break her band turned into a rock band performing numbers from the Vinegar Joe repertoire and this song. An impressive singer with mastering a wide range of styles. Good to hear she is still going well.

A very nice rendition of a difficult song. Chris wrote this for his younger sister...brotherly love.Her voice is more direct than the original and the lead guitar is exceptional.
i left the uk in 1999 and the cassette player in my car had a tape or Elkie stuck in the player the whole journey was Elkie , it was the the best trip of my life i ended up in Spain what a trip , in the words of ABBA thank you for the music.
