  • In this video we look at (nearly) the entire match between Alexis Lebrun and FZD at WTT Macao 2023. This series will always contain longer videos than the Technique Breakdown vids or others, because I don't want to give in on the quality by making it shorter (even though I might get more views that way).

Welcome to the first video of the Match Analysis Series! This series will always contain longer videos than the Technique Breakdown vids (or other ones), because I don't want to give in on the quality by making it shorter (even though I might get more views that way).

Amazing video.. was it long? Yes. But in this level of explanation we cannot expect less, it's so informative and so rich in details. Thanks for taking the time to review it, I hope you can do more of those!
Another really cool one was Felix vs Calderano where he totally dominated Hugo

Thank you very much, but I'm not a pro by any means. Semi-pro at best, some guy with a YT channel at worst.

@@OlavKTTThi, may I ask your height and what height do you think is optimal for playing TT?

Well presented analysis, you are good at this! Interesting point that Alexis has a great serve not because he has one great serve but a wide range of different good serves which as a package makes it very difficult for the opponent.

This kind of analysis is sorely lacking in the TT community. I'd love to see more of your videos in this format!
One thing that could have been mentioned is that Alexis' seemed to have a clear game plan of neutralizing FZ's backhand, as shown by the very first serve of the match. Many shots appeared to exploit weaknesses of a BH dominant player (i.e. super wide to backhand, surprise fast long to the backhand, and short forehand mixups)

He sets the pase with his youthful intensity, always probing for new ways to suprise. Thanks for the analysis. I think its a certain kind of ignorance and ego in these young players, also with Truls Moregardh, that makes them able to override the nervous tension of the situation.

Thanks for the analysis! Could you possibly explain the differences between play styles such as harimoto/ma long/fan zhendong etc? It would be great to be able to better understand how each of the players rely on their unique strengths!

Thank you for watching! I'm working on something similar, where I'm taking a closer look at 1 specific player per video. The first one will come out in less than a month!
