I think I've watched two versions of this same lecture, both excellent. It would be interesting to see a part II, to demonstrate in more detail how VVI phasers change the shape of this curve by shifting intake and exhaust valve timing. It is also interesting to note that when a good teacher puts himself out on the 'net, he helps far more students than he will ever meet in school.

Dear Sir, I have been using my Pico transducer for a few years with good success but the screen at 22:26 bugs me since it says „Open exhaust valve“. It should be called „slightly leaking exhaust valve“.
    1) with the exhaust valve open you will not get a compression peak!
    2) with it open you will not get an exhaust pocket and not intake pocket either.
So the lower peak and leaning towers are because they don’t seal enough. The kink or snap on the downwardside of the tower could point to a valve spring problem. Also the exhaust pocket is rounded without a clear opening kink, this again is a valve sealing issue maybe because of „lazy valve springs“.
So the title of this page is, for a person new to transducer diagnostic, very misleading and I bet that not one of your students could interpret this screen correctly after the seminar.
Too many people just remember pictures/screenshots without understanding the cause for such a screen display.
Last year after a timing chain change on a Jaguar XKR, one camshaftsprocket must have been torqued wrong and shifted almost 180 on first start after the repair and nobody in the shop had any clue why the car did not want to start or run. After a day of guessing we took the pico transducer and the picture was so different to anything we had seen before that we had to sit down and analyze exactly what was happening.
I still have the two scans at home (it was good that it was a V8 engine with only one side shifted so we had the good side to compare). It was a 3 hour repair but luckily no damage whatsoever.

@@McCuistian I have A prototype that reduces knock in an engine.
Lets me advance the ignition timing by quite A bit.
A short test run is on my RUclips page. Pause on the distributor if you want to see more detail.

U tube this is to you. Stop the stupid add for those code reader it fales false advice. You can not fix the car just by reading the code. I'm an ase certified professional mechanic and that add is turning people against us. It's a lye and those people in the add are not mechanics there payed actors no self respecting real mechanics would endorse this add. We take pride in our work. It's hard enough for us to do our job without that bs add. I'm tired of see it. Please stop it. It goes against us mechanics who dont ripe people off.
