Marko John A crutch is something that forces you to rely on it and prevents the development of skill. The original goal of Luna is to reward skill. That is the opposite of the definition of a crutch. Maybe the changes to the gun have changed that.

Rule 6: Learn your hand cannons optimal range. Start to recognize where your damage will fall off, what ranges you cant compete in. A big portion of hand cannon usage, for me at least, is recognizing when my target is out of range and damage falloff will prevent me from achieving and optimal TTK, or when my aim assist come will no longer grant me headshots despite me aiming close to the head.
TV, mate, this was perfect timing. I just hit my second legend last night but man, many times I missed my shots in those clutch moments with my HC and started doubting myself. Going to stay in rumble and get great with my HC. Great video bro ✌🏻. Could you make a video on evasive / defensive and offensive movements? Went against three tourney players who were just on a level I’ve never played against and their movement was unbelievable.

Your two step forward, one step back analogy has been 100% my experience with upping my sensitivity. I'm a 6 year player on 3 sens, and I recently decided to go to 4. Its been a painful process relearning muscle mem, and every time I would log off, the next time on I'd struggle for a while. Coincidentally, what sens are you on?

Sometimes I feel like I've regressed in terms of game skill, everyone seems to be able to react faster and hit shots at unimaginable angles but with this video I think I can get better, thanks TV!
I thoroughly enjoy using lumina because I love helping my teammates even as a solo player, my only gripe with that handcannon is I really feel like I hit ghostbullets on that thing which would make me lose gunfights even tho I know i would have one that with a different handcannon :(
It's been discovered that the gun tries to fire a "healing shot" if you fire at the same moment you go ADS. Lay off the trigger until the gun is fully ADS and that problem should go away.
Absolutely perfect video this time. Slow mo sections and the bit about two steps back and that its part of building up muscle memory alnd getting better made sense. Thanks.
I really like my loud lullaby but I got play like 5 games before I use 110s they are so punishing if your aim is cold for me at least but so satisfying when your on.
I have a god roll Crimils and Duke. Fyi Crimils God roll imo is explosive rounds, drop mag, and snapshot with range masterwork. It's my go to if I'm starting to lose on crucible.
Thank god someone else gets it! Everyone has spare rations and they just don't need to slow down, they just tap the trigger and you're dead. TV makes it look easy in this vid, he's flanking people all the time getting easy kills, so far I just have people flanking me, rushing constantly with shotguns/fusions and team shooting, etc. Half the time I hit ghost bullets and I'm robbed of even just a trade, the other half the time I aim for the head and get body shots instead... nothing I do is working at all. I feel like it's Luna's or nothing since I don't even have a spare rations since the reckoning is such a drag. No other hand canon feels consistent but I hate only using Luna's, I want to learn other types, they just don't work for me.
Watch his map awareness, he reacts to his radar so quick and knows every map. He anticipates the enemy and knows when to push, when to disengage if he misses(rare), or gets down to critical health. He knows where his escape is, and is already subconsciously thinking about his next target or route, before even he knows it.... That's muscle memory taking over from learning maps and utilizing everything he has.
I cant thank you enough, an old scrub who just didn't know? Year one PVE guy, nobody ever explained it so clearly! I went through the vault, found an austringer 86/75 S/AA, oh buddy, I get hand cannons now. Working on the 5 steps of learning HC's up in Soricks Cut, your the man
The trick that got me to start improving on hand cannons was running Sturm & Drang of all things. Sturm being a 110 with that overcharge mechanic for the 2 crit kill really stressed picking smart engagements and the importance of landing that first shot. Drang isn't a hand cannon, but having to keep it under control within its range was valuable experience for controlling cannons like 180s in closer range engagements. If you've tried to learn hand cannons before but haven't given these two a shake, bring it into the control playlist you might be pleasantly surprised- plus, it's a genuinely fun loadout.
Great vid. I have used hand cannons for 3 years now and just haven’t been able to master them quite well. This just made me a better player all around. Thanks!
Hey TV, enjoyed your pacing and tone with these tips and thought I'd drop some feedback in hopes you'll do more if these kinds of videos in the future. As a visual learner, some list or text on screen would help the"5 tips" stick in my mind. Even if you flash to a slide of the list, adding one each time you change to a new point. It'd include more editing time, but if you wanted to drop the tip text on the screen and then have footage in the background, maybe adding text/arrows/slowmo of what you're talking about at the same time that'd be cool. I did see some of that already in your editing, though. Thanks for the video, just wanted to add something that'd help my brain hold on to your points better and maybe offer you a small way to up your game for the next one :D
I fully appreciate what you're saying but speaking personally at 71 yrs of age do you have any idea of how long it takes to set muscle memory? I'm not too bad with cannons in PVE but enemies really dont shoot back, PVP is another story all together. I've been playing since the beginning of D2 and I'm still trying to get the Ace of Spades, yeah, really. It's always that last shot that fucks me up. Killing enemies with precision shots means the last shot must be precision. 25 is all I need I've got 15 so far. I can only play so many games without getting a precision kill before I have to stop. Sometimes for weeks. I got 2 in this latest round of I.B. It's getting harder as more and more "top of the pile" hand cannons come into the game. I'm using The Old Fashioned at the moment. I was pretty good in D1, which was my first shot at PVP, but I think I'm declining now. Anyway thanks for the tips. I'll go back to the beginning and start again. I could retire happy if I could do this.
I suggest using a 110 RPM HC like Duke and Crimil's Dagger (Iron Banner) considering your context. Slower RPM is easier to handle and lets you have more time to make sure you corrected your aim. Spamming shots usually makes getting hits harder and you will die anyway. Taking time to make sure you hit your shots at least lets you have the chance to survive.
I recommend the trust and kindled orchid or service revolver , as an over 50 gamer I to know the pain of getting the Ace 😆 only got it 3 days ago after a year on d2, would also say go for control over iron banner it's more forgiving. Good luck and see you star side 👍
Like everyone else said try using trust. If that's not in your arsenal, try following around a few teammates and wait for them to put damage in, get that last shot and profit
I'm 14, I've been playing fps games since I was 7 years old, and hand cannons have been the only thing to stump me in any game for many years. This guide actually helped so thank you!
I think we'll see another batch of weapons from Y1 reintroduced with random rolls next season. In the way that Last Hope and Old Fashioned were this season. It's the only reason Bungie didn't simply bring all Y1 gear up to year 3 standard. They can drip feed 'new' weapons into the loot pool with minimum effort for year 3.
Watched this vid then started running Revoker/JQK3/Wardcliff (only used once) in rumble. Played 12-15 matches, varying from 6th-2nd place until I won the last one, all the while trying to take this approach. Final kill of the game I won, guy emoted and let me knife him. This a great community and dammit TV, you're one of the reasons why. Keep being great my friend and thanks for inspiring a PvE main to go grab a dub in rumble 🙌🙏
I used to pace my shots and “take a second” before killing someone to make sure my shot lines up. Can’t do that now since people have weapons that kill too fast. I’ve been forced into the max range shotgun, Antaeus Wards meta.... just not gonna play pvp until something interesting happens
You are such an amazing person to listen to, so positive and the way you explain things make me want to get in the game and start playing, keep them coming man 🤘
My downfall with this game is my lack of knowledge of the terminology used in the community. People who try to teach me use these words and I'm always drawing a blank. I'm a lover of the hunter class and I love hand cannons and scout rifles. The hand cannons are hard for me to master.
From Cry0freez - Great Tips! I've been playing Destiny for 6 years. I enjoy using all gun types. With that said, I'm a firm believer you can always learn something new and be reminded of useful information to stimulate the desire to improve oneself. This is one of those videos. I always see the time and work you put into your content. Thank you for providing an informative piece of content that is influencing growth and positivity.
I started playing a month ago and started liking PVP a few days ago, this video was really helpful as I am the WORST at hand cannons, been a lot better after this vid.
Cover doesnt matter in this game TV either the bullet goes through it or you lag back out into the open. Its like RNG is part of the connection to Bungie too..
Subscribed. I love how you explain things. While doing the Ace of Spades quest, I found 110 rpm hand cannons to be the most comfortable. Their ability to 2-tap is so good. But the punishment for missing shots is emphasized a whole lot more. Overall really fun weapon type, good risk-reward dynamic for pvp.
I started out with 180 RPM hand cannons. I found that lining up hand cannon sights quickly after each shot was a problem for me especially against certain backgrounds. The smooth predictable recoil of a 180 helped ease me into it.
Thank you. I've lost hope for myself and this video brings hope for my gaming I've always been a strat freak and always been able to supervise my enemies even coner them at times but my biggest flaw is always my aim and panicking while shooting. I will update this when I see myself getting better
Parsa Shirali I agree. I played Apex season 1 and didn’t like it much. I’ve been a die hard Destiny fan since the beginning, but all my friends stopped playing it and moved on to MW and Apex. So I picked Apex back up in Season 4 and now I’m loving it!
Fluffy Dribbles glad you love it . I’ve loved destiny but now I’m playing it like once every two weeks . The pvp is so shit nowadays. Also you play on pc?
Thank you for this man man .... I’m not sure if you mention this m(just started the video) but one thing that’s helped me is to slow down my shot and not spam over time it’ll get faster
Your narration is amazing, True. Have you went to gun ranges or done anything like army outside of Destiny? You just seem to be very skilled in a way of explaining things and just smart overall.
Absolutely fantastic video!!! I’m definitely the guy who’s grinded for TLW Thorn and Ace of spades and has still never been successful with any of them lol this helps a ton!
Spare rations was the first hand cannon that I started using for the long haul. I found it extremely useful to not panic and really focus and hone in on getting those head shots. Think about getting the head shot and chances are you'll hit it.
Good video TV. I enjoy your content so I watch it but I thought this video wouldn't be any good as I play on PC and everything is completely different, but your tips are pretty universal. Hope you're doing well during this time. 🙂
Hey TV, thanks for uploading this. Somehow never noticed it until now when it showed up in my feed. Actually matched you the other day and was gonna ask if you had a guide on HCs.
If you want to get good with a specific weapon, isn't it better to use the weapon itself? Recoil animation, direction and stability varies with every weapon. Doing well with a 140 doesn't mean you will do well with another HC, moreover sunshot is a 150.
@@cheechungchong7716 TV literally advocated using a Suros 140 to learn how to use hand cannons in this video, learning to Pace shots. He wasn't just advocating people do this to learn 140s. He meant for all hand cannons. Granted after that you have to eventually master the specific architype you wish to use.
@@cheechungchong7716 I wanted to learn how to use HCs, sunshot in particular, but it was way too nuts to control for a beginner. I learnt how to aim on a kindled orchid with rapid hit, transitioned to an old fashioned with explosive payload, and finally moved to sunshot. I found I was not only able to see what I was aiming at better because I was used to the flashes on the guys head, but I could also pace my shots and place them where I wanted more effectively

7:23 "something that stops bullets from penetrating it" not that apparently 😂
Really good video man!!! Keep it up dude!!!
I used to pace my shots and “take a second” before killing someone to make sure my shot lines up. Can’t do that now since people have weapons that kill too fast. I’ve been forced into the max range shotgun, Antaeus Wards meta.... just not gonna play pvp until something interesting happens
Come back they fixed 600 rpm autos and then broke it again by giving everyone a god role shot gun
Jason Ainsworth. No. No, i don’t think I will
Hi, TV. I hope you personally read that, as I want to show my appreciation. That video really helped me do better with hand canons. So Thanks.
I was gonna look up a video cuz I just started using hand cannons again and my aim was trash
You are such an amazing person to listen to, so positive and the way you explain things make me want to get in the game and start playing, keep them coming man 🤘
I tried to use hand cannons but every time I realize that i cant deal with them and i go back to my room and cry on top of my jottun pillow.
God fucking damn I love how this dude is so encouraging
"Add one tip at a time..."
*Giggity*
Both love this guys voice and I feel comfortable recommending this to my newer friends trying to understand how to use hand cannons
“Variety”
*everyone pew pews with auto rifles*
Yeah it's an anti handcannon meta rn imo. Autorifles essentialy have the same range as hcs, have a faster ttk and more forgiveness
I laughed so hard
TV out here giving phenomenal life advice that applies to gaming.
Seems like even when my shot is good I get out skilled by fusion rifles
Jack Garey that’s pretty funny
Erentil: I'm about to end this whole mans career
TV has a video on avoiding fusion rifles (I think its a video on the meta, not sure of the name.
Actually was quite insightful thank
"And I hope to catch you in the crucible."
No thank you i ll pass.
Love how your always trying to help the community. Keep it up
Hello, I'm bad at d2
Lucas _638 practice makes perfect bro it just takes time dont sweat it ;)
Keep trying king you'll get there
Same bro
I’m amazing, it’s the games fault.
Thank ya'll I never meet people that are that nice in the internet
Wow man. What a great intro. You had me hooked. You’re great a story telling man
The real trick is to just get a Spare Rations and slap a targeting adjuster on it. Instant HC god.
Yes
I started playing a month ago and started liking PVP a few days ago, this video was really helpful as I am the WORST at hand cannons, been a lot better after this vid.
I just want to point out that “Mr. PG” just said biotch.
Just when I needed this to relearn thanks TV always happy to see you upload! 👌🏻
Cover doesnt matter in this game TV either the bullet goes through it or you lag back out into the open. Its like RNG is part of the connection to Bungie too..
Cryha87 Lagging into the open sounds like an issue with your internet mate
TV you read my mind. I have some god rolled spare rations and austringer but I'm just got good with them. Thanks for the video.
you literally cant practice hand cannon aim in this meta
You speak pure facts (fuck 600rpm auto rifles )
@@user-uk1wh6zn6o Still can.
Gurimi Senpai when ?
@@user-uk1wh6zn6o If your aim is to practice then you can play 1v1s or private matches.
It’s waaaayyy harder to follow these tips when it’s NOTHING but gnawing hungers witherhoards jotunn and mountain tops smh
Thank you
There’s NO WAY These tips could be for console
And the summoner too
I started out with 180 RPM hand cannons. I found that lining up hand cannon sights quickly after each shot was a problem for me especially against certain backgrounds. The smooth predictable recoil of a 180 helped ease me into it.
"No DIP, TV" - His wife when they run out of spinach dip at the Bible reading.
(Just a lil joke people! Not tryna make fun of religious people!)
I lol’d
Friendship with spinach dip ended
As a Christian I approve 😂
@@rickplayzyt6277 Same haha omg.
Thank you. I've lost hope for myself and this video brings hope for my gaming I've always been a strat freak and always been able to supervise my enemies even coner them at times but my biggest flaw is always my aim and panicking while shooting. I will update this when I see myself getting better
Ever play Apex? Hand cannons in Destiny are sticky af compared to a Wingman
Fluffy Dribbles with a wingman you can be right on target but it still misses
Parsa Shirali no kidding!
Christopher Palmer try other weapons . Once you get the hang of them apex gets real fun
Definitely says it around 4:00 mins in! My guy is on it don’t expect anything less from a Destiny God
Take 2 steps forward
And 1 step back
We come together
Cause I'm dressed like a cat
What a great introduction, and a great video!
I recommend a high stability old fashioned. The model of the gun is thinner and allows you to see your enemy (spare rations is similar)
Thanks for this, TV. I need to dedicate some time to improving my shots.
Hey TV, thanks for uploading this. Somehow never noticed it until now when it showed up in my feed.
Actually matched you the other day and was gonna ask if you had a guide on HCs.
For anyone who would like to learn sunshot, I found using a 140 with explosive payload really helped me ease into it
If you want to get good with a specific weapon, isn't it better to use the weapon itself?
