To me that’s what I got used to snap shots and using the best class for me sunbreakers and from learning those when him not drunk lol. the are very easy angles just knowing those make the game easier. And knowing how you need to deal damage closer means more but there is a sweet spot that’s for sure where using a hand cannon you can two shot and survive
what i’ve learned in the past and typically applies here as well is the person hiding behind cover to peek out has the advantage by being able to start the engagement on their timing. the person who isn’t doing it has the advantage of being able to position wherever, so when the person peeks they may not know where and could get the first shot. pretty good stuff to know
This helped tremendously! I've been massively guilty of panicking and rushing my shots all this time. It's like, in the back of my mind I knew that was the wrong approach but having it explained as concisely as you did here and having the visual along with it really helped me to actually put it into practice. I sat down yesterday and made an effort to put it into practice. I made the effort to take my time with my shots and not rush them or panic in engagements and I had some of the best rounds I've ever had. I threw my igneous on and had some of the most consistent rounds I've ever had! Great video man. Massive help!
Definitely the most crucially helpful tip for hand cannon users I can think of. I also agree that 120s are still king because of the reasons you mentioned despite the recent changes. I think Bungie have balanced them really well this time around and I really like how they've made 140s much more relevant again now too!
Yes yes yes!!!! As someone who is crossing the barrier of being a semi casual crucible player these are the tips I wish I knew. Tip three is something that took a lot of observation from me when watching good players while in their streams, but TAKE THE TIME! Calm down, breath, and take the shot. It’s the same for shotgunning (reloading, distance, etc.). Boy, I get annoyed when really good PVP players give advice but it just sounds like “get gud” to the casual player. Thanks for sharing, definitely sharing to friends who want to get better!
Thank you SO MUCH for making ths video. I've played Destiny since season of the Forge and I've never been able to use a hand cannnon effectively in PvP. The difference in my PvP gameplay before and after watching this video is a large as the time before and after I learned how to use the radar.
Thank you, this is really helpful and insightful, especially the segment about shot pacing, I’ve always found it hard to explain this to newer players, but you nailed it perfectly. I’ll be sharing this video with my clan
I'm a returning player so I'm here, lol. I remember mastering Hand Cannons to get Thorn... such a nostalgic time. It was also the time I finally got Recluse after so much grinding. Very helpful video, Shadow, thank you!
A good thing to mention with the unconventional angle part is the importance that audio takes, you can easily hear someone jumping when they try to do that
That is true especially in a 1v1 situation. But in the chaos of an actual match, that sound can easily be covered up by all the other things going on. Plus, even if you hear a jump, you don’t know which side they’re going to come out on, or exactly how high they will be, so it still gives a big advantage
I agree 100% peek shooting will always keep HC strong regardless of the meta, so long as they don’t bring ghost bullets back from D1 😰 haha - great video Shadow!
Haha thanks man! Thankfully I wasn't good enough to really get annoyed by D1 ghost bullets lol but they don't sound very fun. Making HCs "randomly" miss might be one of the only changes they could make to *truly* make HCs bad.
I just recently found your channel, and I love it! I was just starting to get back into D2 PvP and your tips videos helped me get back to the skill level that I was once at, especially in trials. Keep making content!
I suck at PvP in general, and HC use has always been horrible for me. Thanks for the tips. I’ll try them out and see if it can improve my overall play.
One way I've found to help improve you aim is to go into a private mayhem match as a deadfall nightstalker, and shoot a tether at a random spot. Then, use that as a target
using a 120 is the fastest way to get good at hand cannons as it forces you to play more conservative. This is how I got good with hand cannons and a large reason why igneous hammer is now my favorite hand cannon and 120s in general are my favorite weapon type. I went from gold 2 to adept 1 after just a month of consistent practice in scrims and trials Playing against players better then me and the loads of different playstyles made my confidence and ability to defend myself in those “the game is on the line” scenarios more comfortably and I come out on top a lot more often Great guide Love from Sweden

I do like my explosive payload especially on night watch, but for true prophecy I’d recommend timed payload. While you deal more flinch per shot with explosive, the time between shots is enough for someone to quickly correct and dome you with an opening shot sniper. Timed payload gives you more flinch opportunities, and catches most people off guard. Your ttk could be slower if you miss a headshot, but if they can’t hit their shots it’s not going to matter too much

which is the best 140 handcannon available to a new player? I’ve been thinking of farming to purchase the “not forgotten” but I’m not sure if it’s worth it
Hopefully this should help, the mouse and keyboard nerf ruined handcannons for me altogether, especially 120s due to the recoil pretty much making you backflip with each shot
Love these vids. They really change my pvp progress and give me courage if not just motivation. Do you have advice for 2vs1 or other irregular situations?
5:00 weirdly enough, my Steady Hand with Iron Grip actually feels worse than my Sureshot, almost no stability steady hand. This is on console too. With steady hand specifically, recoil that kicks a lot actually makes it easier for me to hit shots. More info for how I aim. I never pace my shots and that's cause of a fear I developed of slowing down my ttk, when I should instead hit my shots. I need to practice pacing if I'm having a bad aim day. At my best, I never need to pace and I always hit my shots. I noticed that I tend to always slide too far out of cover, and I also don't use cover for peek shots. Idk why but I don't. So next time I play, hopefully tomorrow if the servers are stable, I'm gonna practice my peek shots.
