I love how wonderfully meta this series is already- everything in Mobius’ office is basically forcing Loki to interrogate his own nature as a living trope, with a fixed purpose as part of other people’s narratives.
I think I saw that Tara Strong was on the credits of Loki. That is awesome. WB’s top voice actress maybe now working for Marvel. Wow. I just wish she would get the role that Miley Cyrus did in Guardians of the Galaxy.
I haven't seen it yet, I will. My pie in the sky wish? We get Kid Loki. And he's played by Roman Griffin Davis. This will never come true and therefore I will not be disappointed. You all have a great week.
You forgot to mention that Loki oozes charm and charisma! The title of the episode is perfect. The episode totally blew my mind. I am on this hype train!
Also a side note - to prepare myself for your upcoming Artemis Fowl review, I'm reading the first book (I know that the movie is based on the Arctic Incident too, but the idea for the reread came to me late so I don't know if I will have time to read both books).
I always say that my favorite Loki is the Loki from the first Thor movie. That's because I've realized few years ago that two of the most boring, cliched motivations for a villain were: 1) power and 2) revenge; and Loki in Thor 1, at first, seems to be motivated by desire for power, but in the end it turns out it's a really warped idea of wanting Odin's approval. In later movies he falls mor einto these cliched motives, but he's still the most interesting Marvel villain today. Now, onto the episode... Once we hear about the Sacred Timeline(TM) and three guys in charge of it, it reminded me of Norns in Norse mythology. Norns are basically like Greek Fates - they are in charge of destiny. And remember - there was a whole prophecy on how the world ends and how the gods die (most of them in the battle), so I was wondering why Loki didn't make similar connection. But hey, maybe there are no Norns in marvel version of Norse mythology (after all, Thor learned about Ragnarok really late and it looked far different than in the myths). And besides - this whole episode was about shuttering Loki's view of himself as someone destianted for great things.
I am as engaged with this as I was for Wandavision, the only fear is how they haven't quite managed to stick the landing on any of these shows yet. But. That's because Rhona showed up and ruined everyone's fun, and I do understand that. But this is the first show to actually get to be all the things it was initially attempting to be, so I am pretty confident this is gonna be the one that really hits.
I mourn for the story Falcon and the Winter Soldier wanted to be. The ending of Wandavision wasn't great, but it only really falls apart at the end. Poor Sam and Bucky, their whole story was butchered and patched back together (and again, this isn't complaining, it wasn't bad management it was unavoidable and mostly unpredictable acts of god and government, the entire crew was doing the best they could), and they deserved better though it's almost thematically appropriate that they not get it.
My current running theory (based on me just thinking it would be kinda cool if they did this) is that the Loki they're hunting is this Loki, just at a later date in his own personal timestream. As for the real villain, I think it has to be whoever is in charge of the TVA. I mean look at the propaganda. They talk about this whole Multiverse and the various universes fighting amongst each other until the TVA shows up and sets up the Sacred Timeline. That sounds to me like they showed up, destroyed all the other Universes and then made up this whole story to make themselves look like the good guys in all of this.
I think that, the fact that they kept him in the dark even after the reveal that they are recutting him to hunt himself means we are gonna have a completely new physical look... and I'd bet my left nuts that it's going to be Lady Loki
I don't think Mephisto is the big bad, but after that church scene with the boy pointing the stained window with a devil on it, and Wanda hearing her sons at the end of her series, I'm definitely in the mind of them leading up to him at some point.
5:19 I will never understand this. Now, I love heroes, the good guys, they're always No. 1 in my book but the reason why people like villains is because villains are interesting. You need a good villain in order to make the whole thing work. Villains hold nothing back, they break the status quo (work like hell to keep it), and they stick in our minds. There's nothing wrong with being a fan of a villain- it does not make you a bad person. It means 1) the creative team did their job and/or 2) you are willing to explore the darker side. And camp.
I'm not feeling totally confident about a Coulson comeback here, given how they brought him up specifically to mention how dead he is... I guess it's not impossible they're setting up a twist, but probably more likely they want a clean break with any Perlmutter TV stuff.
7:06 unless you where doing crime fighting for 20 years and lost everyone you loved in those 20 years becoming a murder and losing his path until he’s reminded by a guy named superman to redeem himself and when that hero dies he becomes better and becomes batman again and I’didnt just tell you Batman’s ark in BVS that thousands of people aren’t seeing so there oh trust I know what Snyder was doing with dc characters and it was new and different
Oh we know what Batman's ark in BVS was SUPPOSED to be, it's just that it was told incredibly badly. Now whether that was due to bad writing, studio interference, Zach Snyder's limitations as a director, or some combination of the three I won't get into, mostly because it's not a debate I'm really all that interested in. All that really matters is that, whatever he was trying to do, he failed at it.
The hatred of DC movies is about as stale and childish as hating on Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson because they were on Twilight. Otherwise I agree on the show, it looks really promising.
He's obviously never watched the Snyder Cut of Justice League. And on note of Twilight, it makes the fact that Robert Pattinson being cast as the new Batman that much more hilarious.
I know people who still defend Family Guy even though the characters are now atrociously despicably unlikable. Those writers and those viewers NEED to view this show! In the FIRST episode, Loki goes from privileged douchebag to lovable underdog.
Watching Loki being one shot by a pudgy fat woman, while acting like a total and incompetent buffoon, I find myself missing the time when Asguardians were actual gods, and Loki himself could wrestle and manhandle the likes of Silver Surfer. Sigh. I hope the show gets better. I'm so sick and tired of them turning these mighty characters into jokes.

It's possible that the way they get rid of evil Loki is to swap out our Loki with him at the point Thanos grabs his neck.
Wouldn't be cool and funny if Loki and Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz teamed up together?
His character development has been fairly well developed but as far as AsgardIan’s go he’s actually fairly ‘low-key’.

I think Ben Affleck was the right choice for Batman Zack Snyder was right choice for visual look of Batman but Snyder was the wrong writer
Snyder's the director, Chris Terrio wrote the script. I believe that Ben and Zack brought in Terrio because he's an Oscar winning screenplay writer.
