Wow! I'm amazed and honored to see some of my work inspiring one of the original grand crafters of our community! Only fair Wyloch so many of my builds were inspired by your videos. ❤
Wyloch isn't the only one inspired now. Hahaha. I do remember seeing the original post on Facebook, but can't find it now. I scrolled so far back on the page that Facebook said "Oh Snap." Is there any way that you can share that PDF, or tell us where you found the original file/pic/whatever you used?
@@rickspotten8497Search the group for "library". Not Ctrl+F on the page, but the actual in-facebook search function.
@@WylochsArmory Thanks. MUCH easier than scrolling! Hahaha.
Love to see this series return! Long live Baldur’s Gate 1!!
I just keep asking myself "Am I out of touch?" and so far I have been able to honestly reply "No, no; the children are wrong." Always a relief.
Now if you'll excuse me I have some cranky letters to write.
BG2 is one of the best western RPGs ever made. It's always going to be a high bar to compare! Fans of fallout went thorough the same thing when 3 came out!
Amazing! Wylock shows again how old school crafting beats out modern computer graphics!
I never get tired of your Baldur's Gate terrain series, actually I could watch that al day. Thanks and keep up the good work!!!!
I’m so grateful for your videos! I use 2-D maps, but introducing 3D props and decor has been a big hit with my group!
0:20 I can see you wanted nothing to do with Sarevok's gift, haha
Awesome awesome awesome!!!!!!
Pretty sure I could play BG, IWD and Fallout 1&2 for the rest of my life. Maybe throw in Arcanum and The Legend of Zelda.
My nostalgia is more for Neverwinter Nights than Baldur's Gate, but I never get tired of these videos! 🤩
Damn the nostalgic trip that these vids are! Thanks Bill for this, it's wonderful ♥
Old, you say...Hmmm... Old? Well, BEING "Old", I can attest to the struggles of that trope that you mentioned, "You kids get off my lawn", and, it does have merit, but not in EVERY situation. It could just as easily, in my case, to mean, "Hey, you kids, get off my lawn, and come up here on the porch, and let me tell you a story". Show them the past, in examples just like you mention here Wyloch, revisiting an "old favorite" like Baldur's Gate II, or, in my case, EverQuest, or EverQuest II. Or, if we are going to go really old school, let me break out my HUGE library of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition books, modules, and all the bags, & bags, & BAGS of dice that I have, not to mention the HUNDREDS of figures to represent all the Heroic Characters, NPCs, and Bad Guys that I've collected over the millennium, erm... Decades, it's only been DECADES... Hehehe. Anywho, LET'S PLAY SOME GAMES KIDS... =)
Looks really good! I like that the bulk of the video is Popsicle Sticks & Printed Decals, all very beginner friendly and easy to get into to make something that looks great, and shows what you can do with some repeated textures and simple materials.
For that fight, use the Daylight spell (likely need to recast it if they recast Darkness on top of you) to get rid of some of the darkness. Grap some elixirs of necrotic resistance too before the fight. There's a ring that makes you immune from being blinded, and take a Warlock with Devils Sight.
You can funnel the enemies back towards the entrance hall and hit them with Lightning Bolt (and Sunbeam but be careful of Viconia as it you hit her with radiant damage you get hurt as well). Wall of Fire/Ice/etc help. If all else fails you can cast Globe of Invulnerability, hide your party in there and just nuke the place with AoE spells and bombs. I save Shadowheart's Divine Intervention for that fight too for some extra healing or damage.
Nice! What a pleasant surprise!
This one hit hard...I remember that library so well...oh Candlekeep how I've missed you.
I actually pulled out Fable II on my XBOX 360 just the other day...still awesome.
Great work on this - love it!
One of these days imma do my first project... and when i do imma come back to your vids for ideas and inspiration
You should really just take an hour to start something. It's been a lot of fun for me. Just to something simple and quick.
Been absolutely loving this series, please just lots more content like this … then eventually another 3 hour compendium without ads, this is my background watching go to. 😀
Wyloch back for another one!!!!
“You kid’s get off my lawn…”
- Gandalf spoke to Frodo Baggins
Never wiser words 👍
Really cool build! Nice use of printed patterns. The floor is my favorite.
Good to have ya back old man! Love the videos as always
“Mega, jumbo” sticks = small paint stir sticks at Home Depot, and they are cheaper than craft store.
Hi Wyloch :D
Wonderful Library. Needs a Card Catalog. :P
The way you describe Baulder's Gate is alot how I feel about the Fallout series. Both videogame and tabletop ive been exclusively a Fallout player for over a decade now. Im 39 now. Guess I too got "old and set in my ways". :P
Would love to see your Chipboard Interpretation of the Wasteland some day. I always enjoyed your Warhammer 40k builds as inspiration for Fallout Terrain and such. :D
Enjoyed this one. Thank you. Some good ideas and, I enjoyed the humor you used as well.
Oh my gosh, love it!
Funnily enough when you mentioned doing a Baldur's Gate Crafting Competition on Facebook one of the ideas that immedieately came to mind was building the Candlekeep starting area. Cause I don't think anything is cooler than a giant castle.
Looks good. Nice way to simulate books. Worked well to give it that video game appearance. 👍
That's awesome, thank you.
I know the feeling of ever chasing the feeling BG and BG2 gave way when
This looks truly incredible. Great work.
This how it happens! 😂 I know how you feel. Old.
With all the videos using elaborate sculpting, foam cutting, or 3d printing, this series continues to be a comfort watch for me.
The extra wash that soaks into the paper edges on the floors makes me want to leverage that. Cut each large tile out so that there's a little extra weathering on the edges.
I think the tables with lamps is my favorite.
Get your crap off my Baldur's Gate law!!!
Beautiful build.
Literally said "Wow!" out loud, when I saw the thumbnail!
Fantastic work as always Bill!
This is a Nat 20
I may have said it before but I'll say it again... THIS CHANNEL IS AMAZING! You, sir, have a real gift! Not just for crafting, but for writing and narration as well! Rest assured, your work is a much needed balm to a difficult life. I'll probably never get back around to making terrain, and I barely get the chance to play any games, which makes your content that much more valuable to me! Thank you. Thank you thank you!
Looks great!
If there's a patron saint of crafts, Wyloch, it's gotta be you! Beautiful work! Incredibly inspiring!
Dude this is amazing! I have got to know where did you get that Dwarf Mini with the scroll or map in his hand. White beard blue shirt
I think I bought and printed it off myminifactory.
stunning, I love your work!
Most inmersive set up you made it. Concratulations is awesome how i see me transported to de BG videogame
Looks awesome!!! 😊
My D&D game is currently in Candlekeep and this is gorgeous.
FYI….Old Guys Rule 😂😂😂
Very hyped to watch this!!
I love this series. The library of Candle Keep is definitely an iconic location.
The ladder is really fun. It reminds me of a show on Netflix where there is a ladder that moves on its own and can collect books for students and the librarian.
You dont seem to be able to get the big "jumbo" popsicle sticks, what we get as jumbo are tongue depressor size, which is disappointing (how often has that been thought in my life lol😂) I love your ideas, even though I'm building in a completely different scale, a lot of things hold true and can be translated to suit my needs. When I have a block, I wander off and watch you guys building D&D stuff and Warhammer thingies because you always manage to inspire me!
I like all your videos Wyloch... but you could have gone on to build the worst terrain you ever made and I still would have given a like after the "Baldur's Gate 3 is not a Baldur's Gate game" comment... because it isn't. "It's quite a spectacle" is a great way to put it.
Hah! Man I feel you on the "this is how it happens" comment. Great stuff as always. A new upload always cheers me up.
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Great video, love both the original baldurs gate games and the new. I will say, if you havent played Bg3 as a Dark Urge character, I will recommend you do that, to get more of feeling from the original games.
but what an amazing sarevok figurine and red wizards, where do I get them?
Another impressive build and guide. I have to confess I am still playing the first Baldur's Gate game for the PS2.
So I was wondering? Any potential for doing the Elfsong Tavern as a set piece?
Excellent
I play all of them. Currently trying to finish IWD2 (with EE community mod), but I tend to get burnt out after 100 hours.
Sorry it took so long to sit down and watch your video. Looks amazing and inspiring! Feeling the "getting old" also. Thanks again for another wonderful video.
So beautiful.
Running back through doing some (possible) algorithm boosting for one of my favorite crafters!
These are surprising approachable. One weekend, and I'll have a whole library asset pack
Wanna know how I knew this was going to be another banger??? #Cladding Great vid... can't wait to see you expand on this in the future!! Keep em coming!!
Can't believe I missed this. Thank you for another great video! \[T]/
🤘rock on! 🤘
Nice video!
well done!
Nothing beats the old games, love them, and amazing job, well done Sir. :)
Great video. OOC who makes that Drow mini that you painted up with the purple dress?
No chairs? Looks great. Thanks for sharing your love for classic games.
The King of Crafting posts another gem! 💎💎💎💎💎👏👏👏
❤😂🎉
❤
Excellent to see another one of your videos, Bill!
Biggest problem with 3 lacking that “feel” is that there was SO much time that passed since 2. In a perfect world we’d be playing BG4 or even 5. So there would’ve been at least one game to transition. Instead it feels like unintentionally skipping a step going down the stairs.
Objectively the turn based combat system in 3 is superior.
But yeah, I feel ya on the whole nostalgia thing. My computer does too, the fans don’t even turn on running 1 or 2, lol
I think I can run 1 and 2 out of my L2 cache alone
Getting old? I'm still on the PS2 Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance. Played through three times once with each main character.....
The GBA version of Dark Alliance was my First BG game, pretty good, but NOTHING compared to BG1 and 2, my absolute FAVORITE games, i still wanna try the PS2 Dark Alliance version
Miniatures with clear bases! Respect!
I love this build so much, just fun. But I HAVE to know, where did you get that mini of Sarevok?
Truly, I do not remember...
@@WylochsArmory this is the worst day of my life…kidding of course. Thank you anyway sir and keep up the great work!!!
Yes ...I love that grey primer, but I have to say.... That grafix chipboard is God's gift to humanity. So many uses.
Walt is my hero...I guess I must be getting old too....
Awesome video! If I may ask an unrelated question, those red mage/sages miniatures' design is amazing, can you tell me how to get my hands on some? xD
myminifactory.com. I don't remember which artist I bought it from but I must have searched for Human Wizard or something like that
Sweet!!! How many more of the Baldur's Gate building do you have left to make?
Between one and a thousand.
Inversely I never really played BG1/BG2 when they came out (though I did plenty of tabletop D&D-2e/AD&D) and now I have tried several times in later years but it feels a bit too clunky and out of date so I never get very far. And I am NEVER going back to the arcaic, convoluted rules of 2e tabletop, the less said about THAC0 the better imo. 😉
I don't begrudge people PLAYING the old BG games, if you grew up with them I am sure they still feel fine. But after 5e I can't really go back...
As for if BG3 is a true Baldurs Gate game, well I can't really say. It SURE is D&D; but I have yet to actually GET to Baldurs Gate in ANY BG game. 😓(Bar Dark Alliance because you START by walking into the place and getting robbed!) I am doing another run with a new character single player as well as playing a session with friends so I guess it IS possible at some point? I just know I love the game, I just had some bad luck at the start of Act 3 the first time that put me off it for a while. Gotta go, BG3 with friends time! 😀
Yeah I would imagine they don't hold up well at all for a new player. Probably inaccessible, as you kind of alluded to.
@@WylochsArmory I came to them fairly late, and I really liked them. But I am also nearly 40 so it's not like I never played older games. I'm not that pushed about BG3 - looks cool, but also looks like a style of fantasy I'm not a huge fan of. Maybe I'll get it when it's cheap on sale sometime.
@@johnnybigbones4955 Hey, I am 42, so I guess we also have different experiences. I am not saying they are bad games or anything AND there are plenty of games in my childhood that I still DO play. Play what you like though, I'm not stopping you. 😉
@@WylochsArmory I would not say they are unplayable or anything. But 2e mechanics can be fairly unforgiving at times, I feel like I am playing a Soulslike or something at times. 😛
I remember when I was young and a completely newbie to the game that I used to wonder all the time what marvels existed inside Candlekeep's library.
That Koveras fellow seems polite and trustworthy.
Totes
YEEEEEEEESSSS!!! 😭 so happy
If you make some stuff from Irenicus' dungeon, that'd be awesome. I still think that's one of the best openings to an RPG I've ever played. Starting the game with a dungeon crawl is just so cool
"My Hotel's as clean as an Elven arse ! "
Once again another amazing video.
7:35 “time… for more..experiments.”
Where did you get that Saravok miniature at 0:58? I must to have it in my collection.
I wish they would do figures for all the old Black Isle D&D games. I got the Nameless One that Nolzur did.
not the baldurs gate 3 slander 😭
Super new to the dnd world, but Ive always been fascinated by the lore and you're videos are some of the ones I always come back to for ideas on a multitude of subjects. Thanks for doing all that you do, and hope you continue to be inspired as you inspire me. 😊
Indeed, lawn kids are a very real issue.
I'm not sure if it will work with that sort of acrylic, but if you try exposing the edges of the round mini base disks to a lighter's flame they may go completely clear!
It may be worth a try with a spare one, try very carefully and very light multiple passes so it doesn't burn.
Alternatively using UV resin on the edges might also make them clear (not that you said you wanted it, but it was interesting to share)
The way you feel about Baldur's Gate is how I feel about Fallout - the originals are best - Fallout 1 and 2 👍 So whats your favourite character build in BG2 ?
Pure wizard, usually human or elf. You?
@@WylochsArmory usually a fighter, or rogue, but as ive played it so often i make things difficult by sometimes using a katana haha as theres not many in the game
You are my kind of crafter.
All these BG set peices need a sound module.
"Heya, its me, Imoen!"
Over and over and over....
Nice floor! Really gives the entire build some life. I guess the nostalgia of old games can't be dismissed :)
I love this series!!!
well fall asleep and read a book
Beautiful work! I will copy it for my pnp group. Thx alot
