No Spoilers: The game is around the length of Undertale and maybe a little longer depending on the route. I would recommend doing a pacifist route first because it has the most content and gives you the best understanding of the world and story. Though if you wish to continue a neutral route, that is also fine. You are currently locked into a neutral route as you have killed and spared already. So you don't have to worry about activating another route by accident. I hope this was helpful.
As someone who had done a pacifist run on first (and only) gameplay, I disagree, honestly, the Neutral route have so much to show a first time player, and make them do other route by the end, extending the game time, and be rewarding by how different Neutral and Pacifist are in this game

The neutral route is much more interesting and different in this game than it is in Undertale, so don’t sweat it. I do recommend sparing the main bosses, but it’s not hugely important. And yes, there are multiple routes.
Also also, this game is the soul before the Undertale red soul (frisk)
I've been waiting for you to play this! No spoilers, but just a heads-up: Pacifist, Genocide and Neutral are all different routes with different endings. Pacifist has most lore, Neutral has some of the most fun fights and Genocide will be a surprise!

As someone who hasn't seen this game and loves yub, this is an absolute win
Genocide in undertale yellow doesnt make you feel like you are a murderer. It makes you feel that you came to bring *justice* and revenge for those missing childs
Undertale Yellows endings are actually really good, i cant wait to see your reaction to them! And also dont worry about making other people angry due to the route you chose first. True Pacifist is really the "canon" way to play Undertale Yellow but all the other endings are just as good if not better
the only thing is about him playing neutral first is that the deaths would be way more impactful after having the bond with the characters in pacifist, but tbh that doesn't matter 100%. i hope he does try pacifist at least after this tho!

Neutral has a decent amount of unique dialogue and makes pacifist more rewarding, I think it's a good choice to do it first. But ultimately it's up to you!

Just like Undertale, you can make any choice you want, and it's not wrong. Geno doesn't start until you start grinding, but I'd recommend keeping track of which bosses and minibosses you spare and which you kill ;)
I'm amazed on how YuB is a father of two and that one irreplaceable youtuber at the same time.
This is the one shining example of an AU I've genuinely beheld interest in.

Im glad your not hyper fixated on doing pacifist because the audience would want you to. I personally like doing Pacifist/Neutral/Genocide in that order, but seeing someone play the video game like a video game is nice to see for once

Don't worry about killing stuff and locking in geno as soon as you kill a enemy it locks out of passifist and geno you need to kill all enemy's in the room your in just like deltarune
I actually appreciate how your not forcing the playthrough to be instantly pacifist, i think that neutral is always the best way to play gameplay wise but also this games neutral rote is really cool
An undertale fan game was how I discovered yub's channel years and years ago. I feel like I may be growing out of his content somewhat, but I will always return for the content I know and love!
other commenters have said this but still, undertale yellow actually does have a neutral route that is really cool and has a lot of unique content, so the way you’re playing is totally fine and im excited to see more of this game from you!
Hey YuB! If you didn’t know when you fall after flicking the lever if you wait 5 minutes you actually get an ending but flowey doesn’t like this ending so he resets your game file. Just wanted to let you know!
Neutral is honestly the best ending to start with for this game so glad to see you starting with that!

"More Undertale" jokes aside, it's so nostalgic and amazing to see YuB playing Undertale related content again, I've been here since 2016, and this channel was basically the one I grew up with. Undertale always has been, and still is, a big part of my life, and I don't think I would've ever even known that the game existed if not for YuB. Was literally singing along with the soundtracks the whole way through lmao, it feels good to feel like a kid again. Thank you

Just a little clue for the ruins you're at.
That strange hole that looked like a snake in the dark cave, there are other other distinct shapes like that scattered around the place. I won't say how many or where, but if you feel up to a lil' treasure hunt something will happen when you find all of them. Again, entirely up to you if you wanna backtrack a little for some extras and I respect your decision to play how you want mate.
Edit: Oh, and you'll need to interact with the shapes in a certain order. The sequence should be clear when you look at how they look. A sound will happen when you press the right one.

Fun Fact: You Probably Know The 3 Routes, Pacifist, Genocide, And Neutral, But In The End Of Pacifist Theres A Battle (not spoiling Stuff) If You Do The Right Thing (kill them when they ask) You Get A New Ending Called "FLAWED Pacifist"
quick tip thingy: A lot of bosses don't really require you to ACT much to spare them, you usually just have to wait until something happens which might require you to act or something

I checked out Undertale Yellow because of this video. It's the first Undertale type game I've played and so far I love the feel of it!
I honestly love that YuB played this fan game because the original is how I found him. And I've been subbed since. Crazy that it's been 7 years. 😭❤️

For length, devs said the pacifist took the beta testers 6-10 hours, but you’re doing neutral, so it might be a bit of a shorter time for your first play through

The neutral route is the best in my opinion, the final boss is absolutely amazing! Pacifist to me is second best because it's the "true" ending (Great ending btw!), genocide isn't as important as the others but the fights obviously are harder.
I can't wait to see the rest! It's nice to finally see everything come full circle! :D

You have to explore the ruins some more to find and interact with 1-5 for a secret boss fight, and the numbers can actually range from where you found flowey to the front of dalv's house, so there is some searching to be done.

In undertale it was genocide when you kill EVERYTHING and you can only get it when you grind and if you spare ONE *normal* enemy, it’s neutral route.
So you’re already fine because you‘ve both killed and spared.
By the way, the game has undertale’s format. Pacifist, Genocide, and neutral ending.
the game is just like undertale, you won’t get locked into a genocide if you kill certain monsters and u won’t get locked into a pacifist if u spare certain monsters, you’re js in a neutral run rn

YuB I actually don't care which side you go spare ,kill , or normal you do you my friend. To be honest I knew nothing about this game or undertale green or undertale red until you upload this video. I don't watch different people do the same thing. Great thing about undertale and fan games you can play differently than me. It all about choices. I hope Toby Fox make Clover and Cody cannon then. Also I hope someone make undertale orange, undertale cryan, undertale purple and undertale blue. Even though I don't know how a game undertale would work with game where you have to be patient. Also I hope Toby Fox buys the fan games and post them consoles for fans that can't play these fan games and it would be nice to support the fans who made fan games of his. By the way, YuB did you know you and Matthew Patrick share the same favorite game Earthbound?
Ok so again I was wrong there are fan games of undertale blue and purple and light blue and orange. I never knew that again I only undertale yellow and undertale green and undertale red just because of you and Dan playing this game. I will be surprised if there is a fan making undertale grey.

Personally, I think it’s the best possible outcome that you chose the neutral route. That’s the route I would recommend to go on first. I get really bugged when people don’t let content creators play the game how they want to, and anyway, the neutral route is pretty great. Won’t spoil it.
PS: there IS a “secret boss” in this game. Won’t tell you how, but I think since you’re still in the ruins you can still start the steps to unlock it. Correct me if I’m wrong
About hitting monsters and sparing them, yeah, that was a thing you could do in OG Undertale. Though the sparing usually happened after a certain amount of health left on the monster and not just on one hit unless the monster was particularly weak. pacifist runs using that strategy were called batman pacifist runs iirc.
