Hi Nicola from Australia, thank you so much for your inspiring videos. I too have stitched the Dutch Beauty on 40 count some years ago and loved it! The Feller book is fabulous, I have volume 2 and will try to find a copy of volume 1 and some of the other references you mentioned. I am looking forward to one day stitching the feller sampler patterns included in the book sleeve. I was thrilled to find Leona again, a wonderful woman that I shared many wonderful hours with stitching and talking about samplers when I lived in Queensland. Imagine my delight when I recognised her in your video of a visit to Attic Needlework shop last year. Now I just need to get in touch with her again. Loving reconnecting and watching flosstube, amazing the progress that has happened in the last 10 years. Gina
Thank you so very much for answering my question about the alphabet. I think charting letters and sharing our charts with the stitch-along group is an excellent idea! I will try my hand at it, and perhaps do a sample stitch. Thanks also for the book recommendations; they look amazing. Happy stitching, and stay safe.
I am beyond excited Nicola! Friday is my birthday and what better present than a new sampler design. I cannot wait! I loved seeing all your beautiful books and went several times to see the Sampled Lives exhibition which was in the Fan Room, what a romantic name for a room and adore the book which you showed. Thank you for another wonderful video, keep safe and well and wishing you much success with the weight loss now you can exercise some more, Teresa 🧵📚💕
I love these almost daily Flosstubes! Thank you so much for talking about stitching on higher count linens, because I too have worried about not being able to count and see where to place a stitch. Please show more books too (I wrote them all down). This is a fantastic Flosstube!
Thank you for sharing all the information on the books to look into. The sampler is very beautiful and your charts are so easy on the eyes. Thank you for everything you do. 😊💖
I'm always behind on watching your lovely videos. Enjoy them always and this one was particularly fun and informative. You are always so kind and uplifting, it's a true blessing to the sampler community.
Thank you so much for reminding me that needlework is a journey! I get so frustrated sometimes, when my stitches do not look as good as I want them to look / have seen on beautiful pictures on Instagram and I have to remind myself that I've only been cross stitching since end of September 2019 and skill needs time and practice. :)
Thank you soooo much for your advice on working with linen!! Im a beginner still, working my way to becoming a confident beginner and I have so far not got along with linen, but using your tips I'm going to have a jolly good try at using the linen in my stash!!!! Thank you also for your book recommendations, after heading to the internet I've found a couple of them, which I will be using my birthday money on :) have a lovely day!! Samantha xx
Thank you so much for your encouragement on stitching takes time and practice. I am a new stitcher and find I have good days and bad days as I press forward learning to cross stitch. I’m not giving up. I wasn’t really interested in samplers until I started watching your videos and now I’ve ordered a couple from you and I ordered an American sampler book off Amazon today. Take care.
Thank you for sharing your Samplers and sampler /needlework knowledge with all the stitching world. I wish I didn't have to sleep- so I could stitch 24/7!! Can't wait until Hannah Cambell comes out... I am so excited to stitch her! My daughter and I are preparing to stitch I,,Bathya., A huge cchallange 😊
Poor Ray! I hope he doesn’t love tongue, too. Love this little pop-up video. And I loved the book review! I am blessed to have a couple of those books, too!! Thanks for the “happy” for my day! ❤️
Nicola, thank you so much for the “book tour”. I have a few of the books you showed and love them as well. We had a trip to Scotland planned for this month with a couple extra days in London to visit the V&A. But the trip will have to remain on the bucket list for a while longer. Thank you also for all the beautiful reproductions you do. We are so lucky to share in your knowledge. Susan
Lovely books I recently purchased a copy of imitation and improvement from a seller on ebay. It was a new copy and he accepted an offer. I think he still has a couple. I have just bought some 40 count Permin linen too. Washing it did not make much difference to the softness of the fabric. So if you find a way to make the linen less stiff do tell. The 32 count linen was much softer but they don't seem to do all of the counts in all of the colours.
Book tour was lovely. Yes, the domestic goddess here cooks chicken (bone in) and red lentils for our 16 year old beagle which we have to feed her a 1/3 cup of food 4 times a day. She has a delicate stomach and yes I do this for our Lily and my husband just accepts I won’t do it for him. Can’t wait to see the next Little Gem and I am sure it will be beautiful.
Wow.. so interesting what you share in this video, i also love books about samplers very much , and very happy with those titles.. so thank you very much😍😘❤️
Thank you Nicola for a fascinating and interesting video. I have sew many questions lol. I didn't realise there were sew many samplers. How many sampler do you have? What started your interest firstly in needlecraft and then samplers? I moved to Norfolk seven years ago, I find the people beautiful people. I didn't realise there was a known area of samplers. I am going to go looking when we get back to 'normality'. You have got my mine buzzing😀. Enjoy your longer walks. much admiration .Take care🤗
Wonderful video. I took a class with Joanne Lukacher. Was wonderful class on Norfolk samplers. Always good to see you. My worse thing seeing anyone eat is blood pudding. Ugh lol
Thank you for these wonderfully informative videos; the lives of these young stitchers fascinate me. For the past few days I have been researching the ladies on my own family tree - and got very carried away with It! I would love to stitch some reproduction Samplers for them in the era in which they would have been the same age as the stitcher. Once Mary Ann Ragg from Sheffield has been reproduced she will be the first, in honour of my 3x Great Grandmother Ann Wragg of the same age, also from Sheffield. Stay safe, keep well.
I'm about 5 lbs. more than my pre-lockdown weight. My weakness is pasta and bread. Stress foods! So yes...I'll be walking more as well! :-) Tongue is not for me neither....though my Polish and Hungarian relatives have tried numerous times to get me to try it. lol! No to pig's ears as well... blah! Thank you for your talk about samplers....I enjoyed listening while stitching!
We are using 46ct as it is the model stitcher’s preferred count. Hannah stitched her sampler on a lower count. The model will be smaller than the original

Love your videos so much 🧡 I almost don't dare to say this...but, at 25:45 minute mark I hear a little baby giggle... am I wrong?
Probably seagulls.
