It's Over, It's Over, We Cannot Resist (Lew Dite original)

- I found this hand written poem on a loose sheet of paper in one of my old music books.
I don't remember when I wrote it.
Human Beings as we know them are on their way out
That is the truth, there can be no doubt
Life as we know it will come to an end
Climate change is here now, we cannot pretend
While we look for deals and shop at Walmart
Life's essential needs we willingly depart
More junk at low price is what we do prize
While the soul of our existence we readily compromise.
Oh, it's over, it's over, there'll be no return
Whether it's the flood or the big burn
Life on this planet will cease to exist
Just because we cannot resist.

I lost you and Phillip and found he had passed so this is appropriate...I have his chapbook sent to me awhile ago now.. I am a dear fan of Leonard Cohen and found you and again now here...big hugs and love from New Zealand....

I wish I could disagree......but deep down I know there is a lot of truth in those lyrics. Maybe it's just our age? Thanks for sharing. Cheers
the good ones always die
:(
What are you resisting?
We can't resist our environmentally destructive behaviour.
That's a rather bleak song, Mr. Lew Dite. I like the melody, though. Thank you.
I agree… that is why I did it in black and white video.
