When I first saw your city, I couldn't put my finger on what real-life region you took inspiration from. I had thought Atlantic Canada (a close guess considering you mentioned Maine), or at least a more mountainous version of it. The hilly terrain descending into the harbor, as seen at 2:37, reminds me of St. John's in Newfoundland.
The map is apparently based on Northern Germany, and I've been told that my city design looks a lot like Australia too, so it's a bit of a mix of all kind of things I guess :)
According to the author the map is a mix of "Germanic coastlines, the Wadden Islands, Pointe du Hoc and some fantasy mixed in" So the hills are probably just the result of some artistic freedom mixed with some French cliffs
Beautiful city and landscape! I watched this before hitting the hay and this was quite relaxing. Great work! It looks like it'd be a nice place to live in.
In Chile there is a town that, although the government calls it a city, has little population and clearly has the same name in Spanish, Puerto Williams
What a coincident! I have never heard of it before, but I looked it up and it does look like a beautiful place! Strangly enough, it looks a bit like a tiny version of one of my previous cities, Alken
I used Adobe Illustrator, but Inkscape would be a free alternative. As for some tips: use the CSL map mod to create a crude map of the city, turn off everything in the map viewer except for the public transport and then start drawing. Use some real life maps for inspiration, in this case I used the map of the London Underground.

Anyways, around the 9:35 mark, I see the train pull into the zoo, and from the above-looking perspective you can see the zoo entrance is solely attached to the line. Is there another entrance for a road or is the train the only way to get in? Thanks’

I have to help: In the beginning you show red line but the one that is actually in the speakers is Yellow one ... but I guess it is the yellow one based on the stations names. Or dont I understand something? Thanks
No, that's a blunder on my part. It should be the yellow line, not the red one. I never noticed, oops! I wish RUclips would let me fix mistakes like that.

@@SolarCola That said, northern Germany (or at least coastal areas of it) is really flat. There are some hillier areas once you get south of Hanover.

It does! The main entrance is a bit on the left of the shot, with a big parking lot and connected to one of the main bicycle roads

It's the grass sprites that appear on the ground (the vanilla ones even, I think), not actually an asset :)
