  • Diggle Diaries: An attempt to film all daylight running freight and interesting workings from Diggle Junction. Situated on the picturesque Trans-Pennine, Manchester to Huddersfield and Leeds route, Diggle Jn lies at the top of a steep incline leading into Standedge Tunnel. Providing beautiful scenery, varied freight and trains working hard up the hill, there aren’t many better places for a bit of trainspotting.
    This month includes:
    - Colas loco movements & Land Recovery trains (inc. drone shots).
    - FL wagon and multi loco moves
    - A Class 40 and Peak on the mainline
    - TPE Class 68s in detail
    - And much more...
    Thanks for watching!
    Please leave a like, it helps a lot and don’t forget to subscribe for more rail videos.
    Dedicated to Alan William Gaskell.

    Your mystery structure might, over time, grow into a sub-station (electric variety)

      That’s what I suspect too, early prep for the electrification through the tunnel 🤔 cheers Sean 👍🏻

    Lovely area you have picked for your video's. As already mentioned Stafford Station could be a good place. Also in Colwich / Little Haywood there is a footbridge over the WCML , here the line splits WCML to the left and Stone to the right. Mostly passener to Stone, but mixed traffic to Stafford and four tracks going to Lichfield. . Yes I live close to WCML. Mick

    Thank you for this excellent video. Good to see several 68s in action, but what a shame they are still not being fully used. The white liveried single Class 158 was a Transport for Wales unit, and most likely had been to Wabtec at Doncaster for an overhaul. It would go back to Shrewsbury for use on the Cambrian lines to Aberystwyth, where the 158s have been fitted with a form of European Train control system, and only those so fitted can be used on that route.

    • @DiggleJunction
      @DiggleJunction  Год назад

      Cheers Anthony, and thanks for the info on the 158. I gathered they’d be heading to Wabtec but had no idea why so many had been visiting over the past few months.

      @@DiggleJunction jolly good ! I am amused, and impressed by your title ! I know the area very well, and Diggle Junction was always an interesting spot when the Greenfield loop was in operation in the days of steam ! Also the North Western Road car bus company had a route that terminated at Diggle station ! Many thanks indeed, and I look forward very much to your next video. Best wishes.

      @@anthonywarrener1881 Haha thanks again Anthony. Sadly the bus routes into Diggle have now stopped for buses straight through the Huddersfield. The turning circle at the old station is now a work site and offices for the Trans-Pennine upgrade.

    If you’re in the car the stretch between Colwich and Little Haywood will give open views across the Trent Valley. North of Stafford try Norton Bridge area then north to beyond Mill Meece where the line runs directly alongside the road. In Mill Meece village 1/2 mile along Meadow Lane the over bridge gives some decent views despite the wires. Good luck with the day and if you need any more info then please ask.

    • @DiggleJunction
      @DiggleJunction  Год назад +1

      Thanks a lot mate. The last shot is from the Uppermill end of Saddleworth Viaduct. There’s a footpath (one time branch line) called the Delph Donkey which used to connect to the mainline and you can get right up alongside the track.

    not sure if you can stay on stafford station overnight anymore from what i remember it was stopped because people from birmingham used to do overnights at one time but they left the station looking like a tip the station manager put a stop to overnights there but the car park faces the station on another point crewe basford hall plus the avoiding lines at the rear of crewe station are 2 good places
