  • Southwest Mosquito Abatement program gears up for peak “mosquito season”
WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah (8/28/2024) - Cooler temperatures at night typically bring out mosquitos. September and October are peak months for mosquitos breeding and feeding during the fall in Washington County.
The Southwest Mosquito Abatement & Control District is responsible for monitoring and taking care of mosquito habitat.
So far this year there are no reports of mosquitos carrying West Nile virus in Southwest Utah, which can be transmitted to humans and horses.
Residents should be aware of the increased chances of being a “blood meal” and know how to prevent it from happening.
